Quick Facts About Ian's Home Bakery

Strengths: 1. Food selection: The bakery offers a great variety of breads, baps, traybakes, muffins, and sandwiches. There is something for everyone, and customers can enjoy a wide range of choices. 2. Friendly staff: The staff at Ian's Home Bakery are described as helpful, friendly, and accommodating. They ensure that customers are aware of available seating and make an effort to provide a table to those who are about to leave. 3. Reasonable prices: Many customers appreciate that the bakery offers reasonably priced food. This makes it an attractive option for those looking for a budget-friendly meal. 4. Homely atmosphere: The bakery is described as cozy and welcoming. Customers feel comfortable meeting up with others and enjoying a meal together. The old-fashioned bakery adds to the charm and homely ambiance.
Weaknesses: 1. Limited seating space: Ian's Home Bakery is reportedly crowded and busy during lunchtime. This can be inconvenient for customers who prefer a more spacious and relaxed dining environment. The bakery could consider expanding its seating area to accommodate more customers. 2. Cleanliness issues: Some comments mention that the tables, menus, and a rubber mat were not clean. Maintaining cleanliness is crucial for any food establishment, and the bakery should make an effort to regularly clean and sanitize its seating area and other surfaces. 3. Lack of customer facilities: One customer expressed disappointment over the bakery's lack of customer facilities, specifically mentioning the lack of a public restroom. This can be problematic for customers, particularly those with specific needs or emergencies. The bakery could consider installing a restroom for customers to ensure their comfort and convenience. 4. Inflexible restroom policy: A particular incident highlighted the bakery's refusal to grant access to a customer in urgent need of a bathroom, despite explaining a disability. This lack of flexibility can be seen as a weakness, as it may lead to negative experiences and frustration among customers. It is important for the bakery to prioritize customer well-being and provide necessary accommodations, especially for those with special needs. 5. Hygiene concerns: The comment about staff not wearing protective gear when entering the "clean" area and not being prevented from using the bathroom raises concerns about hygiene practices. It is essential for the bakery to maintain high standards of cleanliness and implement measures to minimize the risk of contamination.
In conclusion, Ian's Home Bakery has several strengths, such as a wide food selection, friendly staff, reasonable prices, and a homely atmosphere. However, there are also weaknesses to address, including limited seating space, cleanliness issues, lack of customer facilities, inflexible restroom policies, and potential hygiene concerns. By addressing these weaknesses, the bakery can improve its overall customer experience and maintain its strengths.

Best TL Reviews

Absolutely manic at lunch time and unfortunately they’re limited in seating space. Tables, menus and the rubber mat thing (whatever it was for) could have been cleaner. Food selection is great. Staff are really helpful and friendly in letting us know a table was going to be free in a minute before we were about to leave and in making sure that table was ours when someone walked in ahead of us. Couldn’t fault them. Food we had was decent.
Food absolutely beautiful. Very friendly and homely place. Lovely to meet up with someone for a wee bite to eat. Very reasonably priced too.
Lovely old fashioned bakery. Full range of breads and baps. Lovely fresh and mock cream buns. Lots of traybakes and baked buns and muffins too. They also do sandwiches and hot food like sausage rolls, quiche and pasties. You can sit in or take out. One of my favourite bakerys and reasonably priced.
Very nice breakfast. We all enjoyed it. Will be back.
Very very disappointed. Nice food but lack of customer facilities let the business badly down. My 90 year old mother in law and I called in for a hot drink and a bun. She suffers from urinal tract problems and needed to use the bathroom urgently after finishing her tea.
The staff refused despite me explaining her disability and asking them did they want her to urinate on the floor? They stated the owner does not allow customers to use the staff toilets as people would have to pass through the bakery kitchen to get there and that the council would close them down if they caught staff allowing the public to use the bathroom.
Considering it was an emergency I stated that this would not the case. She had to use the opticians next door and I phoned Belfast Council who stated that it was up to the owner whether the toilets could be used (their recommendation is not to let the general public use them for additional hygiene protection). BUT there was no way the business would be closed for doing so and certainly not in an emergency as described.
To ban the public from walking through the preparation room makes no sense as the shop staff are subject to all the germs and bacteria from customers. The staff are not wearing any Protective wear when entering the “clean” area and are not prevented from using the bathroom.
I can fully understand the owner not wanting a parade of the public using the toilet but I would have thought some common sense should prevail when dealing with the disabled or elderly!
We won’t be back.
Love the hot sausage rolls here and of course all the different buns ???? mmmm
Never disappointed,,always good and freshly made at the right price !!
Thank-you
