Quick Facts About Lake Avenue Fish Bar
Lake Avenue Fish Bar has its strengths and weaknesses based on the comments provided. Here is a comprehensive analysis:
Strengths:
1. Quality of Food: Multiple comments mention that the fish and chips from Lake Avenue Fish Bar are of excellent quality. The fish is described as succulent, cooked perfectly, and served with a light and crispy batter. This indicates that the establishment focuses on delivering a high-quality product to its customers.
2. Cooked to Order: Some comments appreciate that the food is cooked to order, ensuring that it is fresh and not sitting around for a long time. This can be seen as a strength since customers can enjoy the assurance of freshly cooked food.
3. Portion Sizes: A few comments mention that the portion sizes of chips are decent and satisfactory. This implies that Lake Avenue Fish Bar provides good value for money by offering generous servings.
4. Friendly and Polite Staff: Several comments highlight the friendly and polite nature of the staff at Lake Avenue Fish Bar. This is a significant strength as it contributes to a positive customer experience.
5. Competitive Pricing: One comment mentions that the large cod and large chips can be purchased for £10.90, which is considered a decent price. This suggests that Lake Avenue Fish Bar is value for money, especially when considering the portion sizes.
Weaknesses:
1. Cooking Times: One comment suggests that the food is cooked to order, which may result in longer waiting times, especially during busy periods. This can be seen as a weakness, as customers might prefer faster service.
2. Limited Allergy Information: A comment raises concerns about the lack of information regarding allergens. The small sign mentioning the presence of nuts was found only upon leaving the premises. This lack of clear and visible allergy information can be problematic for customers with dietary restrictions or allergies and should be improved upon.
3. Limited Seating and Takeaway Only: From the comments provided, it seems that Lake Avenue Fish Bar only offers a takeaway service. This limits the options for customers who prefer to dine-in and may be seen as a weakness for those looking for a sit-down dining experience.
4. Limited Menu Variety: There is a comment mentioning that it would be easier if customers could order the most popular items, such as cod and chips, without having to wait in line to place their order. This indicates that the menu options might be limited, which could be a weakness for customers who desire more variety in their food choices.
5. Negative Customer Experience: One comment recounts a poor experience where the customer discovered that all the food contained nuts only upon leaving the premises. The customer also mentions poor service and wasted money. Such negative experiences can be damaging to the reputation of Lake Avenue Fish Bar and should be addressed to improve overall customer satisfaction.
In conclusion, Lake Avenue Fish Bar has several strengths, including the quality of its food, friendly staff, competitive pricing, and cooked-to-order approach. However, the establishment should address weaknesses such as longer cooking times, limited allergy information, limited seating, limited menu variety, and negative customer experiences to further enhance its overall performance and customer satisfaction.

Be a great idea if they didn't cook absolutely everything to order. Surely they must know that people are mostly going to want fish and chips? Should be easy to ask for cod and chips twice and be on your way, unfortunately queue for everything, but quality good.
nice enough , decent size portion of chips , dont mind its cooked to order as then you know its not been sitting there all day - better than average for the area , give it a try
Best fish n chips in town, well worth a visit. Be warned though, they will spoil you for when you're out and about for the day or away on holiday like we were, very disappointed with the quality of Welsh chippies and both agreed we looked forward to our Friday chip night from the little local chippy back home.
Lovely Fish and chips Cooked fresh
Well incredibly disappointed, bought food from here to find out on leaving that everything they cook contains nuts! The sign was amongst the advertisements and was tiny. I have a severe nut allergy and could have died if I hadn't have seen this sign. Do not go here if you have any allergies it ain't worth the risk. Spent loads of money to put straight in the bin! Poor service to. Will never be returning!
Best fish and chip shop in Bury St Edmunds but take away only. Cooked in neutral oil which is changed regularly so flavour is spot on. Items are cooked to order, except in really busy times. Cod is very difficult to get just right, cook to long and it's chewy cotton wool, not enough and it's still wet fish. These chaps cook to within a few seconds to serve up succulent fish cooked in a light and crispy batter. PERFECT!!! Sorry getting carried away. Chips are excellent too.
Excellent fish & chips. We were staying in a "posh" hotel a few miles away. Did not like it and found this really good chippy. Friendly staff and quick service.
Polite and friendly staff with quick service apart from busy times decent priced considering cost of living cost increase
