Quick Facts About The Brean Down Inn
The Brean Down Inn, based on the comments, has several strengths that make it an attractive place for customers, particularly those with dogs. Firstly, customers commend the establishment for its good food and drinks at fair prices. This indicates that the quality and affordability of the menu items are notable strengths of the pub. Additionally, the comments highlight that the restaurant is extremely hundefreundlich (dog-friendly) and accommodating. Dogs are allowed both inside and outside the pub, and there are even bowls of water provided for them in the bar. This dog-friendly policy is a strength that sets The Brean Down Inn apart from other establishments, making it an attractive option for dog owners.
Another mentioned strength is the pub's nice atmosphere and character. The comments describe the establishment as having a relaxed and welcoming ambiance. Customers appreciate the amenities and seating options available, such as the lounge, conservatory, and outside smoking area. This variety of seating areas contributes to the appeal of the pub. Moreover, the staff is repeatedly praised for being friendly and helpful, which adds to the positive atmosphere and enhances the overall customer experience. In addition to the friendliness of the staff, customers also appreciate the fact that they bring free treats for dogs to the bar, indicating a high level of customer service and attentiveness.
The food served at The Brean Down Inn is generally well-received, with positive comments about the taste and quality of the dishes. The pizza is highlighted as a particularly pleasant surprise on Tuesdays when it is the only item available. Customers enjoy its flavor, showing that the pub is capable of delivering tasty food even when offering a limited menu. While there were complaints about the limited stock on a separate visit, the food itself was still regarded as good quality when served. The positive comments about the food indicate that it is one of the strengths of The Brean Down Inn.
The pub also receives praise for its drink options, especially the selection of beers and ciders. Customers appreciate the range of local and regular drinks available, highlighting another strength of the establishment. The reasonable prices of the drinks add to the appeal for customers, making it an attractive option for those looking for a satisfying beverage.
Despite these strengths, there are some weaknesses that have been mentioned in the comments. One recurring issue is the limited menu availability and stock shortages. Some customers were disappointed to find that the full menu was not offered on their visit, and there were complaints about items not being available due to low stock. These limitations can be seen as weaknesses, as customers expect a wide range of options and availability when visiting a pub.
Another weakness that was brought up is the high price of the alcohol-free cider and beer. Customers felt that the prices were overly expensive for these particular options, which could potentially deter customers who are looking for non-alcoholic alternatives.
There was also a complaint about the lack of staff behind the bar, leading to long waiting times. In one instance, a young barman was described as fractious and extremely rude to a customer who had been waiting for a long time. This indicates a weakness in the pub's service and the need for better staffing to ensure prompt and friendly service to all customers.
Despite these weaknesses, the positive comments outweigh the negatives, and many customers express their intention to return to The Brean Down Inn. The dog-friendly policies, good food, friendly staff, and pleasant atmosphere are repeatedly praised, indicating that these strengths contribute to a positive overall experience for customers. However, improvements in menu availability, stock management, pricing of non-alcoholic drinks, and staff numbers behind the bar could help further enhance the reputation and success of The Brean Down Inn.

Gutes Essen und Trinken zu sehr fairen Preisen. Restauration überaus hundefreundlich und zuvorkommend.
Nice pub that is very dog friendly. They're allowed inside and out. With bowls of water in the bar for them.
Went for a meal on a Tuesday to find out its the only night all week when they only do pizza's. Although not expecting this, the pizza's were very nice!
Went back for a 2nd visit for a proper meal, but they still weren't doing a full menu as they were apparently running low on stock. The same menu items were on the board from yesterday! My partner had the bacon cheese burger and fries. It was pitiful for £10.49.
They also ran out of alcohol free cider and the alcohol free beer was so over priced!
Nice place to stop off with the family and dog in tow. Outside, conservatory and lounge seating. Good range of local and normal drinks.
Friendly staff. Bit of a wait on food, but it was busy. Something for most on the menu. Good quality when served.
We always come here. Dog friendly and free treats for them on the bar ????
A big plus is the vegan menu for us. Great tasting food. (Would be fantastic if you could add more vegan choices to the menu).
Nice selection of beers and ciders.
Good value for money.
Staff very friendly.
Highly recommend.
Really nice and relaxed pub with great amenities. Food choices were excellent and served nicely in a great relaxed way. Will definitely go back for a visit as I live locally!! The family were impressed. !
Lovely pub, staff very friendly and helpful. Tried the Old Stan cider very good but be careful its over 6%????
Lovely pub with loads of character (& characters). Very dog friendly (dog bowls outside & FREE dog biscuits on the bar (but no obvious way of making donation) Our dogs loved the attention given to them by other dog owners & customers)
We sat inside (deceptively big with pool table & additional seating) but lots of space & tables in conservatory & outside smoking area
Husband enjoyed the beers (he said they are VERY reasonably priced) there is also a good range of draught ciders.
Food is very good (we chose from the board) & was freshly cooked & HOT!)
Could have done with more staff behind the bar as young barman got very fractious & extremely rude to a gentleman who had been waiting ages to be served.
Will return to this lovely pub next time we are in the area.
Thanks for the lovely evening with no blaring jukebox????
Forgot to mention didn't hear a single dog barking the whole time we were there
