Quick Facts About Mai Hoa Beauty Salon
Mai Hoa Beauty Salon has a number of strengths and weaknesses based on the comments provided.
One of the main strengths of the salon is the skill and expertise of the stylists. Several customers mention that they received great haircuts and color from specific stylists such as Kim and Tianna. Customers appreciate the fact that the stylists listen to what they want and are able to deliver the desired results. This suggests that the salon has a talented team of stylists who are skilled in their craft.
Another strength of the salon is its ability to accommodate walk-in appointments and same-day appointments. For customers who need immediate hair services, the salon is able to accommodate their needs and provide them with the services they require. This level of flexibility and availability is appreciated by customers and sets the salon apart from others.
The salon also has affordable prices, which is mentioned as a positive aspect by multiple customers. The reasonable prices make the salon accessible to a wide range of customers and make it a popular choice for those on a budget.
Customers also mention positive experiences with the salon's staff, such as Trang being described as attentive and easy to talk to. Friendly and helpful staff can create a positive atmosphere for customers and contribute to their overall satisfaction with the salon.
However, one of the main weaknesses of the salon is its organization and communication. Several customers mention that their appointments were not honored or that they were seated with a different stylist than the one they requested. This suggests that the salon may have issues with managing appointments and ensuring that customers are matched with the appropriate stylist.
Another weakness is the lack of professionalism exhibited by some staff members. One customer mentions that they felt offended by the comments made about their weight by a staff member. This kind of behavior is unprofessional and can create a negative experience for customers.
In addition, there are concerns about the salon's ventilation and the use of products. One customer mentions feeling nauseous and experiencing burning sensations on their scalp, indicating potential issues with the ventilation and the use of harsh chemicals. This raises concerns about the overall safety and comfort of the salon.
Finally, there are mixed reviews about the salon's ability to meet customer expectations. While some customers praise the salon for delivering the desired results, others mention that their requests were not met and that they left with a different style than what they wanted. This inconsistency in meeting customer expectations suggests that there may be a lack of attention to detail or miscommunication between stylists and customers.
In conclusion, Mai Hoa Beauty Salon has strengths in terms of skilled stylists, ability to accommodate appointments, affordability, and positive staff interactions. However, there are weaknesses in terms of organization, professionalism, ventilation, and meeting customer expectations. These areas could be addressed and improved upon to enhance the overall customer experience at the salon.

I’ve been coming to this place for years. I love getting haircuts and hair color by Kim. However, this time I wanted highlights and didn’t have availability any time during the week so I decided to do a walk-in appointment. Thankfully the had an opening and I was assigned Tianna. This was the first time I got to see her work and I absolutely loved my highlights and experience with her. Don’t hesitate to give her a chance :)
I called this salon this morning and asked for a same day appointment because I had gotten my hair cut and colored at a different salon yesterday and the color was all wrong.
They graciously accommodated and put me at ease. They listened to what I wanted (“bronde”) coloring and assured me they could fix the bizarre job done by another salon.
I was so impressed, they even had two people foiling and blow drying my hair.
It’s definitely a no frills place, but they do a great job and I soooo appreciated them getting me the same day. Before and after photos attached.
I decided to give this place a shot because I was looking for an Asian stylist for my Asian hair. People in the west simply don’t understand our hair functions differently. Initially I was a bit scared by the reviews but gave it a shot. I called in for an appointment and requested for Kim like the other reviewers.
I walked in at my appointment time, it wasn’t that long after they opened at 10 but they were already pretty packed. Fortunately I was helped once they could—so only had to wait like 10-15 min. I asked Kim for a two block and she got right to work. She knows her stuff! I didn’t even get a chance to show her a photo of what I wanted but she nailed it. Not only did she cut my hair well—she also washed it and helped me style it a bit—to teach me how to do it myself. Super sweet lady and all this came to 23$. Needless to say I will be back.
Got a cute haircut from Trang! She works efficiently and is nice. Wash, cut, and style in 30 minutes for $35.
If I could give a zero, I would. This salon hands down is the worst. I will never come back. Extremely unprofessional and I felt nauseous from the terrible ventilation. I left an hour ago and my head still burns. Never has my head ever burned like this and I feel dizzy. FYI I had a men’s cut plus color service.
They had left the color in for 50 minutes!!! That’s crazy. I talked to the owner and she admitted it takes 30 minutes. They only washed my hair after I had visibly pointed out my watch. As I write this review, I still feel really sick. Such a long terrible experience.
The owner apologized and said they were busy. That’s a terrible excuse because it wasn’t about busyness. It was apparent that it was greediness and packing way more people they can handle. I had an appointment but it didn’t seem to have mattered. Communication and organization was non-existent.
The owner plays up to be very friendly and nice in English but I understand Vietnamese and she’s not very nice in her native language. I have empathy for small businesses including for its employees. I support local businesses. Myself having owned multiple companies, I am extra understanding and patient. But this place makes me want to go to a chain salon.
Regarding the existing 4.2 rated reviews. The reviews are wildly incorrect and doesn’t reflect the reality. I’m perplexed.
The entire establishment should be ashamed of their treatment to their own community. For nearly 1.5 hrs, all I saw was a lack of respect for customers. My hair person was inattentive. The person who washed my hair was rough and their fingernails gashed my ears twice. The owner does a great job of having Bambi eyes to get away with an extremely unprofessional salon. I can see through fake kindness… disingenuous Bambi eyes and “so sorry’s” don’t work on me.
PS. I have been a long time reviewer on Google and this by far is the most upsetting review I have ever written. Not only was I not happy with the service, but I felt offended as a person.
I went there to get a hair trim. I told the woman who washes hair that l wanted "my hair trimmed off an inch, layers that frame my face and 2 inches off my bangs". I was hoping she would tell the hairdresser. The hairdresser was a male that spoke very little English.
As a result. They misread my instructions and cut off 3 inches off my overall hair and did layers all over it. I was livid! That was NOT what l wanted. When l complained to the person who was washing people's hair (it seems she greets customers, books appointments, deals with questions, etc) she just blew it off by saying: "it's going to grow back". RUDE!!!
First: They don't respect the wants of their customers.
Second: she made a blunt comment about my weight when l sat on their washing station. I'm pregnant. Totally unpleasant and unprofessional. She lowered the pricing of the haircut on an intent to compensate but it didn't do for them many favors.
Third: l understand that the staff is majority asian. Which l don't mind. My problem is that they don't know or may not care about placing someone that's speaks better English and understands directions so those can be properly directed to the hairdresser. It gave me a poorly impression about the handling of their business. As a consequence l am not returning to their hairsalon EVER!!! I don't need to be ashamed with an ugly haircut l didn't ask for or by my gain of weight due to my pregnancy.
Shame, shame, shame! ????
Unless you’re getting your hair colored by Kim this place isn’t worth it. Hairdressers don’t listen to what you want. I emphasized specifically what I wanted multiple times before bleach and walked out with something completely different. It honestly felt like she did more to upcharge more $$. It’s also so unorganized there, I make appointments with Kim but she’s too booked/busy and I have to be seated with someone else. It’s sad bc they’re affordable and there was a time I really enjoyed this salon however I won’t be returning anymore.
Hands down my favorite hair salon. Not only are the prices reasonable, but they do a great job coloring and cutting my Asian hair. Be sure to make an appointment especially if you’re not just getting a hair cut. We’ve moved away from Minnesota, but I still come back here when we visit family to get my hair done. Trang is a wonderful stylist. Super attentive and easy to talk to.
