Quick Facts About Malacca
Malacca Place is a restaurant that specializes in South East Asian cuisine, including Chinese, Malaysian, and Thai food. Based on the comments provided, it is possible to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the restaurant.
One of the main strengths of Malacca Place is its popularity and atmosphere. According to one comment, the restaurant was packed during Chinese New Year 2022, which is seen as a good sign. The fact that it attracts a large number of East Asian customers indicates that the restaurant is able to create an authentic and inviting atmosphere for those seeking a taste of home or a genuine South East Asian dining experience. Additionally, the positive comment about the tea and tableware being refreshed regularly suggests that the restaurant pays attention to small details and strives to provide a comfortable and enjoyable dining experience for its customers.
Another strength of Malacca Place is its menu. One comment mentioned that the menu had everything the customer wanted and also included new items they hadn't tried before. This indicates that the restaurant offers a diverse selection of dishes, catering to different tastes and preferences. By continuously introducing new items to the menu, Malacca Place keeps its offerings fresh and interesting, enticing customers to return and try something new each time.
The prompt also mentions that the staff at Malacca Place is attentive and provides good service. Customers appreciate the quick service and friendliness of the staff, as mentioned in multiple comments. This indicates that the restaurant prioritizes customer satisfaction and makes an effort to ensure that diners have a positive experience from the moment they walk in the door.
However, there are also some weaknesses that can be identified based on the comments. One customer mentioned that Malacca Place is not as authentic as they would have liked, as it offers more fusion cuisine than truly traditional dishes. This could be a drawback for customers looking for an authentic dining experience, as they may be disappointed by the restaurant's deviation from traditional recipes and flavors.
Another weakness highlighted in the comments is the portion size and pricing. One comment mentions that the portions are small for the price paid, suggesting that the value for money may not be satisfactory for some customers. Additionally, one customer recommends that the restaurant should amend its prices, indicating that they found the prices to be too high for the portion sizes offered. This feedback suggests that there may be room for improvement in terms of portion sizes and pricing to align with customer expectations.
It is also worth noting that one comment raised concerns about the quality of certain dishes. The customer mentioned that the tofu was mushy, which is not the expected texture for this ingredient. Additionally, they mentioned that the red Thai curry smelled like fish, which could be a cause for concern for vegetarian or vegan customers. These instances of inconsistency in the quality of dishes highlight a potential weakness in the kitchen's execution and attention to detail.
Despite these weaknesses, the overall consensus seems to be positive regarding Malacca Place. The majority of comments express satisfaction with the food, service, and atmosphere. Customers appreciate the restaurant's dedication to catering to allergies and providing a genuine South East Asian dining experience. The restaurant's strengths lie in its popularity, diverse menu, and attentive staff, while the weaknesses lie in the authenticity, portion sizes, pricing, and consistency of certain dishes. Overall, Malacca Place appears to be a recommended choice for those seeking South East Asian cuisine.

Chinese New year 2022. The restaurant was packed (with East Asians, including myself, which is always a good sign) but that compromise the service and quality of food. It was SO tasty, fresh, and the tea and tableware were refreshed regularly. Great menu. Not huge but had everything we wanted and some new items we hadn't tried before. They even packed my leftovers up to take home. I think this has become my new goto Chinese restaurant outside London. Loved it. Highly highly recommend.
I would say good atmosphere to eat. It's not authentic authentic. It's more fusion. If you are looking for authentic taste not the one. Portions are really really small for the price we pay. Services are great. They should amend the prices, just my suggestion
Great asian food and the price is affordable.
The service is good and quick enough.
Thanks for a good dinner!
Nice little venue, apart of a street with loads of houses on which was unexpected. Was quite busy when we went service was good. I had tofu as I am veggie, it was very mushy on the inside I’m not sure if it was the way they were cooking it but tofu is usually supposed to be hard so I didn’t really like this, the sauce it was in however was really nice and they left me choose a sauce from the main menu rather than a set dish sauce specified for the tofu. Noodles were really good! As for the rest I cannot say although the red Thai curry did smell like fish which is a bit worrying if you’re a vegetarian/vegan especially considering it is on the veggie menu.
Malacca has to be the best South East Asian restaurant I have been to. The food was very fresh, you could tell everything was hand made and not bought from wholesale suppliers. The service was very impeccable and very friendly. The restaurant catered to allergies and took it very seriously, advising me they are very strict, cleaning a section of their kitchen and only allowing certain staff to handle food for the allergy sufferer. I can highly recommend this restaurant if you want genuine south East Asian food (Chinese, Malaysian, Thai, etc). 6* out of 5!
We will be back tomorrow! Thank you very much!
Always great food at this place. Ambience is nice and the staff are friendly. A go to place for Malaysian / Thai food.
