Quick Facts About Mario's Barber Shop
Mario's Barber Shop has several strengths that contribute to its positive reputation. Firstly, the shop is known for its friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Customers often mention the friendly people and the warm environment in their comments. This is a significant strength as it creates a comfortable and enjoyable experience for patrons.
Another strength of Mario's Barber Shop is the quality of their haircuts. Many customers have been loyal to the establishment for years, commenting on the great haircuts they receive. Customers specifically mentioned Eddie and Donna as skilled barbers. This is important as it demonstrates that Mario's Barber Shop has competent and experienced staff who consistently deliver good haircuts.
Affordability is another strength of Mario's Barber Shop. Multiple customers praised the price as being reasonable and not overly expensive. This is advantageous as it attracts customers who are looking for good value for their money.
The sense of community and family is a notable strength of Mario's Barber Shop. Customers mentioned that the shop is family-oriented and emphasized how important this aspect is for them. This creates a sense of belonging and loyalty among customers, fostering positive relationships with the barbers.
Customer loyalty and trust is demonstrated through several comments, such as one customer who had been going to Mario's for over 10 years and traveled home during college just to get their hair cut at the shop. This reflects a strong customer-barber relationship, which is crucial for a barber shop's success.
However, there are also weaknesses that should be addressed for Mario's Barber Shop to improve. One significant weakness that was pointed out is a decline in the overall experience in the past two years. Customers mentioned issues such as foul language, loud fights among employees, and unprofessional behavior. These factors contribute to an uncomfortable atmosphere for customers and must be addressed to ensure a positive experience.
Another weakness mentioned is the presence of employees' children in the shop. While some customers appreciate the family-owned aspect and see it as a positive sign, others find that it causes distractions and hinders the employees' ability to focus on their work. Finding a balance between accommodating the employees' responsibilities as parents and maintaining professionalism should be a priority for the shop.
Additionally, a serious allegation of discrimination and homophobia was made against Mario's Barber Shop. This accusation can severely impact the reputation of the business. It is essential for the shop to address this and take appropriate action to ensure that discrimination of any kind is not tolerated within their establishment.
In conclusion, Mario's Barber Shop has several strengths that contribute to its positive reputation, including friendly staff, skilled barbers, affordability, and a sense of community. However, weaknesses such as unprofessional behavior, distractions from employees' children, and allegations of discrimination are areas that need improvement. By addressing these weaknesses, Mario's Barber Shop can continue to provide quality haircuts while ensuring a positive and inclusive atmosphere for all customers.

Friendly people. I had a hair cut on vacation.... No reservations needed.. super fast.. . I recommend the place..
Been going here for the past 2 years now. I have lived in fresno for the past 10 years and I always struggled with trusting a barber. I came from a small home town when I was attending college I would travel home to get my haircuts. As any guy knows a barber and client relationship is important lol. It was important for me to find someone that knows what I like and how I like it. The price is right and the service is awesome. Very welcoming, Family oriented, I highly recommend it. By the way Donna is the one who cuts my hair and I trust her to get me right.
I've been coming here since I was a little kid, pretty much all my life, many many years. I used to get my haircut by Mario before he retired. The haircuts have always been great! I can't find anywhere else that gives them better, especially by Eddie, the man at the back of the shop. Been coming to him for years now. But in the past 2 years, the experience there has REALLY declined. Despite the "NO FOUL LANGUAGE" signs, it doesn't stop the employees from using foul language. Many times, loud verbal fights break out among the employees (who are mostly family), which makes it very awkward and uncomfortable for all the customers silently watching on. And professionalism has become an issue: employees not showing up on time, not being there, old buddies coming in just to hang out and drink beer, etc. And one more thing.. I know they have kids and have to take care of them, I get it, and I don't expect them to drop their kids because of their jobs. But there ARE solutions to this. The kids have become a huge distraction for the employees, not enabling them to work properly, and from time to time, even having to discipline them in front of everyone.
So, I write this, not because I'm spiteful or mad (I love the people who work there and have known them for many years), but because I want them to know what their business looks like through the eyes of a customer, so they can find solutions to these issues, and become even better than they are.
I say try them out at least once. Their hair cutting skills are the best. But the atmosphere is not one I want to be around. As for me, I think I'll find somewhere else to go from now on.
I used to go everytime here when I lived in Fresno. Since 1999! I had a few haircuts from the OG Mario before he retired. Eddie and Donna are the best. There's always a long line for Eddie, but never underestimate Donna. She knows exactly what's she doing. Always gave me the best fade and used a straight edge razor for my neck hair. I miss this place. The topics people talked about while waiting were always interesting. Some funny, some sad, some informative. I think this barber shop my be the last kind of OG barbershop left in Fresno. Not to mention , they don't charge an arm and a leg for a cut. Hands down the best! Miss you guys.
Best price and best family people
I’ve known Eddie and his family since high school. In fact, They have been cutting my hair since the early 2000’s. I love there barber shop. It is the last bastion of hope in a country where masculinity and male pride are considered toxic. It’s pretty much the only place in Fresno where you can get a great shave with a straight edge razor. And everyone there is a skilled barber in the ways of traditional barbering. No gimmicks. No fancy bs or fake themes and decorations. And not once have I ever heard anyone there discriminate against anyone due to religion, race or sexual orientation. In fact, I’ve seen and talked and met people there form all walks of life. Which is what a barber shop should be. A beacon for community and a meeting pot of different individuals conversing and connecting with one another. And as far as the kids that are there with the employees, I love the fact that they are preset. What better example of a family owned business! This shop is not for the person seeking a place sorrounded by a bunch of flat screen televisions with all the sports games on. If your looking for that, go to a sports bar. But if your looking for a great old fashioned hair cut and a great conversation with down to earth hard working people that actually care about ur hair and about asking you how ur day is going, that have walked in your shoes and know what it’s like to struggle and make an honest living, go to Mario’s. But if your looking to get a haircut at some place where they charge you and arm and a leg to pay there rent and pay for there fancy expensive gimmicks, then go to river park or the mall and get ur hair cut there. Also, Donna is awesome! She’s awesome with kids! And if you don’t want to wait in line call ahead. That’s what I do.
I have been going to Mario's for many years for my hair cut.
I always get a great cut and at a very good price.
Friendly employees.
I would recommend Mario's to anyone without hesitation.
You will be very satisfied with both the quality and the price.

Homophobic business. Bigotry and homophobia should never tolerated. These people refuse to allow lesbians in their establishment. Discriminating against a person for being LGBT is no different than discriminating against a person for being Latino or for being a woman. Most of their clients are Latino men. You'd think that because they serve a group that has been historically discriminated agains they would have compassion for others. But they don't. Such heartless people don't deserve my family's business. They homophobes bring Fresno down and make us look like backwards fools. SHAME!
