Quick Facts About Mimi's African Hair Braiding

Mimi's African Hair Braiding salon has received both positive and negative feedback, offering insights into the strengths and weaknesses of the establishment. In assessing the comments, several key points can be identified.
Strengths:
1. Skill and expertise: Many customers praised the skills of the stylists at Mimi's, highlighting that they were able to achieve the desired hairstyle and listened to their specific requests. The positive experiences with staff members such as Jackie, Awah, and Janet indicate that there are talented and accomplished hair braiders at the salon.
2. Customer service: The positive reviews commend Mimi's on its pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff. Customers reported feeling comfortable and satisfied with the service they received. The fact that Mimi herself stepped in to rectify a booking mistake demonstrates a commitment to ensuring customer satisfaction.
3. Speed and efficiency: Some customers mentioned that their hairstyles were completed within a short amount of time. This indicates that the salon operates with efficiency and can accommodate customers who are looking for a quick appointment.
4. Affordability: Multiple comments mention that Mimi's is an affordable option for hair braiding services. This can be seen as a strength, especially for customers who are seeking quality results without breaking the bank.
Weaknesses:
1. Irritating hair products: One customer mentions that the hair used at Mimi's caused irritation to their scalp and skin. This raises concerns about the quality or compatibility of the hair products used by the salon.
2. Appointment miscommunication: One customer reported a booking mistake that resulted in a significant delay in their appointment. This indicates a possible weakness in the salon's administration or scheduling system, which could negatively impact the customer experience.
3. Negative customer experience: One particularly negative review recounts an unsatisfactory experience, including the stylist not following instructions, leaving knots at the roots, and sewing braids together at an incorrect location. The customer expressed dissatisfaction with the service and the unprofessional conduct of the owner when addressing their concerns. This negative experience raises concerns about the consistency of the service provided at Mimi's and the professionalism of some of the staff members.
4. Lack of attention to detail: Several negative comments mention issues with braids loosening quickly and lack of proper braid maintenance. These comments suggest a potential deficiency in the salon's attention to detail and hair care techniques, which may impact the longevity and quality of the braided hairstyles.
Overall, Mimi's African Hair Braiding salon demonstrates strengths in terms of skill, customer service, speed, and affordability. However, there are weaknesses related to irritating hair products, appointment miscommunication, negative customer experiences, and issues with attention to detail. It is important for the salon to address these weaknesses to improve customer satisfaction and maintain a positive reputation.

I needed my hair done really bad, so I went on a hunt to find a braiding salon and came across Mimi's which is close to my house, made a appointment and was very happy with the outcome. Shout out to Jackie❤ Thank You So Much!!
I got knotless braids for the first time and Awah did a beautiful job. She's very sweet and listened to what I wanted, even the special requests for my parts
She took her time time with my natural hair that I haven't let a salon touch in years since I've been growing it out healthy.
I was a little nervous letting someone else touch my hair again but, She was gentle and did not make my edges too tight.
Other than the hair the shop uses being irritating to my scalp and skin, this is A Nice African salon for the area ????️????????Peace and Love to us All
Getting back to my roots✌????????
I came in at 9 am, and they had misbooked me. I waited until 11:30 am. Mimi Came and did my hair herself and they were and have always been pleasant to me. ive used them for years and will continue to do so
OKKK!!!! Mimi took me as a walk in and got me right. I have very little hair and she managed to get me looking like I had a head full to work with. I'm very satisfied with how well she was able to get these 3/4 inches of hair braided.. I will definitely be going back.! I did add one photo of my hair before she braided so you all can see what I was working with.
Absolutely loved my hair ! Super affordable and she did it in under 5 hours! It was very full. Had to go back again for the quality, affordability, and speed.
I actually wish I could give 0 stars. Please do not patronize this business!!!! I went into this African hair braiding shop for two feed in braids they assured me they could do it and I sat right down in the chair. After the lady asked me how did I want my hair I showed her a picture and she started it. I realized that she was parting my hair sideways and not straight down the middle like I had asked so I showed her the picture again and told her I wanted a middle part and two feed in braids. She rolled her eyes and started my hair (feeling uncomfortable) I sat there and let her finish. I felt like she was rushing through my hair but it's only two braids and she was the professional so I trusted the process. I shouldn't have. After seeing the final result of my hair I told Mimi and the person that did my hair that I DID NOT like it and it looked nothing like the picture... another customer came in and said she wanted the same thing done to her hair but after she saw the job she decided not to get her hair done (this was HER decision) I called the next day to let the shop know that my hair was already unraveling and it wasn't even 24 hours later and the owner of the shop SCREAMED over the phone and told me I ran her customer away because I didn't like my hair which didn't make any sense to me. Her worker did a HORRIBLE job and the customer saw that for herself she then told me the only way I could get my money back was if I came in with my hair taken out. This is the worst experience that I've ever had at a African braiding shop and I will not be returning. They take your money before you even get your hair done which was also a first for me. I was very unhappy with the service as they were not AT ALL professional I would not recommend this shop to ANYONE!
Excellent hair styling by Janet. She is very delicate, uses a good proportion of your hair with the braiding hair, and moves at a great pace without feeling like it's being rushed. I've been to her twice and both great experiences with a lot of compliments on my hair!
I went this Wednesday, and The young lady who was doing my hair was busy on the phone and then when she got off the phone she started talking to her co-workers, of course in their language but none the less distracted. I showed her a picture of exactly what I wanted from different angles. I told her that I wanted the small braids to be my real hair but the bigger braids to be feed in with braiding hair. I told her to first start the braids off with my hair so we can look as natural as possible, all she did was pull it tight and start the braids leaving a little knots at the top of my hair. Not only did she leave a knot at the top of my hair she also put extensions in the smaller braids. If she was not distracted she would have done what I asked of her the first time. They do have mirrors, but she kept me away from the mirror the entire time. I know that they sew the braids together to give it a neater look but this young lady decided to sew my braids together at the nape of my neck where my natural hair stopped, instead of sewing the braiding hair together a couple of inches further down. I had to pick my son up from school and I could not stay and tell her what was wrong. She DIDNT START THE BRAID OFF WITH MY HAIR, SHE DIDNT HAVE THE LITTLE BRAIDS IN MY NATURAL HAIR, THERE ARE LITTLE KNOTS AT THE START OF THE BRAID, AND THEY ARE LOOSENING UP ALREADY..i have not been in water, I sleep in a silk pillowcase, and wear a bonnet. While I was there a young lady came in and had individuals that she got done at that Salon last week, and she had a handful of braids that were loose. I do not recommend this place if you have a great person who is braiding hair on the side I would say go to them instead of going to this particular hair braiding place. Because sometimes they're good and sometimes they're bad, and in this case I had a bad person who did not listen to me. And I paid for something that I was not satisfied with. NEVER AGAIN!!!
