6. Lack of professionalism: One customer mentioned that the owner of the salon was extremely rude and had a heavy-handed approach to braiding. This unprofessional behavior can create a negative atmosphere for customers and discourage them from returning.
In summary, while Moya African Hair Braiding has strengths in terms of skill, pricing, and speed of service, they also have weaknesses in customer service, language barriers, appointment management, hair damage, limited range of styles, and professionalism. These weaknesses may negatively impact the overall customer experience and reputation of the salon.

Best TL Reviews

Called the night before and they told me I could come in the next morning at 9:30. I arrived around 12:15 just because I was still unsure if I should go, My hair is soft they told me it might not last longer than a month which was fine with me. There was 4 women working on my hair. I asked for knotless braids to my waist, they gave me the option to add some color and the price was normal ($280 + hair provided so YAY!) and they finished my head around 2:20. I love my braids and I think they did a wonderful job but the salon could use upgrade.
Minus a star because they did cut some of my real hair when they went to trim the braids of stragglers, not a lot but still.
P.s. They do speak in their own language which is fine! It’s not like your there to talk with them, your there to get a service. I was nice to them and they were nice back, they are hard working women.
They do really good work! But they're very rude and it comes to speaking their language around they're African American customers! If you guys are secretly insulting me for someone else in the shop, then why not speak English? And the fact that they change their prices based on your looks it's pretty irritating also! They'll never admit to any of this but it does not take the rocket scientist to know when they are secretly being insulted ????...????
The stylist who started my braids was very nice and kind and it didn't hurt at all however when the owner showed up she helped in braiding my hair and was Extremely rude, rough heavy handed and I told her it didn't take all that and why was she taking her anger out on me and my braids!!!! Long story short il NEVER patronize that place ever!!! Horrible horrible horrible lunatic lady!!!!!!!!
I called Moya on July 1st and asked if I could get an appointment for Friday July 3 between 12:30-1. I explained I was coming from out of town 12 hours away. I wanted micro braids or either box braids. She said yes,I asked how long would it take she said 5 hours. I told her I would see her Friday. I got into town Friday the 3rd and gave Moya a call and asked did she take credit cards or did I need cash. She said cash. I told her I was on my way & she stated she was busy. I said this is why I called you two days ago for an appointment & you said that was fine. She said well I’m busy I will call you and let you know if I can get to you. If not come at 9 in the morning. I was upset because what are appointments for. She called me later and told me to come at 9 the next day. Okay fine. I get there at 9 the next day about 8:45 Moya wasn’t there didn’t get there until 9:45 the girls in the shop was complaining because no one wanted to do my hair. One person started, then someone else got in my head and the other girl went to braid someone else hair. I sat there 8 hours while they complained the whole time. At the end two of them finished it. They charged me $200 for supposedly wet and wavy micro braids that look horrible! They did not use human hair my sister-in-law who is a licensed Beautician said it was Synthetic hair and that is why it look like that!!! I never in all my life seen such unprofessional people in my life!! Rude as can be!! I would not recommend these people to do my dogs hair!!
I called the Friday before my appointment on Monday and requested micro braids. I was told ok. When I show up ,I'm the first customer, so I showed a picture of the micro braids that I wanted.
The lady looks at me with a puzzled look and says no...box braids? I said ok thinking that this would be ok being that it was obvious that they only know how to do box braids.
Yeah...right! It took 7.5 hours! My head had way too much hair on it and I had asked them to leave my edges out! They had three different ladies start, and stop on my head once other customers came in and I finally ended up with the slowest braider!
After 6 hours another woman came over to help.
They had my edges braided even though I asked them not to do this !! I had to take my edges down after one day because I had bumps, and sores so badly! I see why they only had four clients that entire day!
They don't know what they're doing! When I get my hair braided in Indy it takes no more than four hours and whatever style you ask for ...you get it!
I don't understand why this city doesn't have any quality braiders! It is like their skillset is limited and so called stylist are afraid to do hair! Get with the program and level up!
I'm from Indianapolis' and many hair stylist in Indy make sure that they are on top of their game, and skills because they want to make money.
From now on I'll just have to make that trip to Indy if I want quality hairbraiding!
Do not go to this place if you want to keep your edges. The lady braided my hair extremely tight. I got a crochet styles which I have had quite a few times and when she was doing it I was in tears. She ask me if I ever has a crochet and that maybe I should go for another style next time. I told her yes but It never hurt this much. She told me I wasn't in the much pain but I was fs. I down a whole pint of jack after my appointment to take my mind of my pain. When I took down my hair a month later when I reach the end of the braid my hair just came out with it. Beauty is pain but not that much pain.
I see a lot of people put bad reviews and I had to say something. No they're aren't always professional but I've been going here for 10 years and they are the best braiding shop in Toledo for sure. If you tell them what you want precisely you will be satisfied. Yes there's one girl in particular who braids very tight. So if let her braid your edges and you have soft hair it'll come out. I don't have to name anyone you will know. The rest of the ladies do a very good job. I have sensitive skin and I'm tender headed and I still continue to come back. I have heard some horror stories about other shops and I have never broke out or anything at Moya's. The big problem is they don't write down appointments but if they're not really busy you will get done fast and I like that
Very bad attitude, told me to be there at 9am along with 4 other ppl so I still had to wait 4 hrs. Until she even started my hair! They speak in there language so customers don't know there talking about them, I feel that is very rude!
