Quick Facts About Pontefract Swimming Pool

Pontefract Swimming Pool has a number of strengths and weaknesses based on the comments provided.
Starting with the strengths, one comment praises the facilities as being "very good for all the family." This suggests that the pool offers a wide range of amenities that cater to various age groups. Another positive comment highlights the outstanding and friendly staff, specifically towards young children. This is important for creating a welcoming and enjoyable environment for families.
Additionally, the comment about vending machines serving drinks and snacks shows that the pool offers ample refreshment options, which can be convenient for visitors.
Moving on to the weaknesses, one complaint mentions that the swimming lessons do not progress as quickly as other schools. This suggests that the swimming program offered at Pontefract Swimming Pool may not be as effective or efficient in teaching children how to swim.
The issue of cleanliness is brought up in multiple comments. Although one comment states that the facilities are generally clean, another describes the pool as "dirty and old" and mentions overflowing bins and dirty nappies in the changing rooms. This suggests that there may be inconsistency in maintaining cleanliness standards.
The comment about the pool being crowded and disorganized during certain times highlights a potential issue with the management of the facility. This could lead to a less enjoyable experience for visitors. Additionally, the same comment mentions that the changing rooms are taken over by school groups, leaving insufficient space for other visitors to use. This suggests a lack of organization in scheduling and allocation of space.
Another negative comment criticizes the behavior of the lifeguards, claiming that some are "in some sort of power trip." This suggests that there may be a problem with the attitude and professionalism of some staff members, possibly affecting the overall atmosphere of the pool.
Another complaint mentions a specific incident involving a staff member who was rude and lacked consideration for a child with autism. It also highlights unprofessional behavior by sitting inappropriately. This suggests a serious lapse in customer service and staff professionalism. Additionally, the lack of response or resolution to the complaint further adds to the weakness of the facility's management.
Lastly, one comment notes that the changing rooms are cleaned while people are still using them, causing a slip hazard. This indicates a potential safety risk and a lack of consideration for the patrons' wellbeing.
In summary, the strengths of Pontefract Swimming Pool include good facilities for families and friendly staff. However, the weaknesses include slow progress in swimming lessons, cleanliness issues, crowded and disorganized conditions, unprofessional behavior by some staff members, and safety concerns. These areas of improvement should be addressed by the pool management to provide a better experience for its visitors.

My daughter attends swimming lessons here weekly, following the ASAP Learn to Swim scheme, they do not seem to progress as quickly as other schools but all seems to be going well. Facilities are basic but generally clean. Most of the staff are helpful and polite; 1 or 2 exceptions. Vending machines available serving pop, hot drinks and sugary snacks.
Very good facilities for all the family. Staff are outstanding and very friendly towards my young daughter. She loves going each week.
Very busy, fun family splash hour but dirty and old. Bit smelly too please empty the bins in the lockers and changing rooms more often full of dirty nappies. Looking forward to the new pool being finished. Xx
It gets busy at certain times but that's due to the recent closure of two other local pools, (we're supposed to be getting a new pool but everything has gone quiet). The place is looking tired now with little investment from the council. The staff are very good though, friendly and helpful.
Most of the Life guards are in some sort of power trip. I get they are there to save lives but when there are parents watching their own kids and taking responsibility, they should really chill out and take a back seat. Strange how everyone copes in swimming pools abroad when there are no lifeguards!!
The pool is always crowded. People stand about waiting for classes to start and have no consideration for people wanting to swim. Toilets are grubby. When schools are swimming they take over the changing rooms and leave their clothes in the cubicles so you can't use them. It is very disorganised. Staff is friendly and helpful.
I take my child swimming there in the changing room the staff are throwing water all over the floor cleaning the changing room while people are getting changed. This is dangerous and causes a slip hazzard surly they could wait till it is closed before they cover a already wet floor with more water and grumpily walk around with the squeeze pushing the water under cubicle where people are changing and are too polite to say anything.
Would be higher rating because all in all clean and great experience but one of the staff and only one was nasty to my daughter for splashing I explained she was autistic and he said he dint care he also sat in the high chair with his legs up and he testicles where visible I beleive this was accidental but I just think he has no consideration or gumption towards the people who use the facility made a complaint never heard a reply like I was told I would try not to go back and use another but have to travel 30miles as it's only local pool left
