Quick Facts About Ranchos Plaza Grill
Ranchos Plaza Grill is a popular restaurant in Taos, known for its authentic New Mexican cuisine. Reading through the comments, several strengths and weaknesses can be identified.
One of the main strengths of Ranchos Plaza Grill is the quality of the food. Multiple comments praise the carne adovada, with descriptions of it being excellent, tender, and flavorful. The chile rellenos and chicharrone burrito also receive positive reviews. The salsa and guacamole are also mentioned as standout dishes, with fresh ingredients and great flavor. Overall, it seems that the restaurant is able to consistently deliver high-quality, delicious food.
The location of Ranchos Plaza Grill is another strength mentioned in the comments. It is situated across from the San Francisco de Asís church, creating a picturesque atmosphere. Many commenters mention the great photo opportunities in the area. Additionally, the restaurant has its own courtyard for outdoor dining, which enhances the overall dining experience.
The service at Ranchos Plaza Grill is generally praised in the comments. Multiple reviewers mention the friendly and attentive staff, making them feel welcome. The outstanding service is noted as a positive aspect of the dining experience.
The ambiance of Ranchos Plaza Grill is also mentioned as a strength. One comment describes the interior as "beautiful," with a whole wall painted, making it great for photo-taking. Another comment mentions the old building it is located in as being "super cool." This adds to the overall charm of the restaurant and enhances the dining experience.
However, there are also a few weaknesses mentioned in the comments. One reviewer mentions a miscommunication between staff regarding seating, where another group was seated immediately while they had to wait. This indicates a potential inconsistency in the staff's organization and communication skills. While this seems to be an isolated incident, it is still worth considering.
Another weakness mentioned is the wait time. In a couple of comments, customers mention having to wait for a table. One commenter specifies a wait of 25 minutes, while another mentions a 45-minute wait. While these waiting times might indicate the popularity and demand for the restaurant, they can still be a drawback for some customers, especially those with limited time or impatient diners.
It is also worth noting that Ranchos Plaza Grill does not serve alcohol. While this may not be a significant issue for some customers, others might prefer to have alcoholic beverage options to accompany their meals. This could potentially be a disadvantage for those seeking a complete dining experience with both food and drink.
In conclusion, Ranchos Plaza Grill in Taos has several strengths such as the quality of the food, the location, the service, and the ambiance. The delicious and authentic cuisine, along with the picturesque location and friendly service, makes it a popular dining choice. However, there are a few weaknesses including potential miscommunication between staff, wait times for tables, and the absence of alcohol. Overall, the strengths seem to outweigh the weaknesses, making Ranchos Plaza Grill a highly recommended restaurant in Taos.

Simply the best! We have to wait for 25 minutes dropping in without reservation. The carne adovada was excellent, thinly blackened, the red chilli sause was beautiful. we liked our desert very much. There was a whole wall painted, so good for photo-taking dining in front.
Went for Saturday breakfast with my kiddo. He had the french toast and I had huevos rancheros. Green chili sauce was delicious. The reason for 4 stars was because we were waiting for a table and another group of 2 came in and was seated right away, so a miscommunication between staff.
All the hype is true!! This is the best food in Taos! You can tell a lot about a place by their salsa & guacamole. The guac was so fresh with just the right amount of spice and big chunks of avocado. The salsa had a rich smokiness that made me want to take a jar to go. The entrees were amazing especially the carne adovada. It was braised for hours, so tender it melts in your mouth. And finally the sopopillas were warm, fluffy, and perfectly done. Squirt a little honey on them and they are all that’s good in this world! The wait is worth it. The service was friendly and they make you feel welcome. The restaurant itself is quite large on the inside but something about eating outside in their courtyard made the experience perfect.
Located right across the San Francisco de Asís church. Great atmosphere and food is genuinely authentic! No alcohol served, but no reason to be deterred from grabbing a bite here
Best chile rellenos ever. Chicharrone burrito is delicious too. The service was incredibly friendly and attentive. We ate here three times in a week. The old building it’s in is super cool too.
My family and I enjoyed a wonderful authentic New Mexican dinner at the Ranchos Plaza Grill. Most of us ordered variations of the stuffed sopapillas which came with an extra sopapilla that we ate with honey. The service was outstanding and there was plenty of parking. The restaurant is next to one of our favorite churches and there are plenty of photo opportunities.
Simply amazing. We stepped in and were told a 45 minute wait, took one whiff of the restaurant and decided it was worth it. We all got the carne adobada enchiladas, which are *spoilers* pork chunks marinated in spicy rich sauce. Wow. The large homemade sopapillas were a great, especially to my friend who had never had one. 10/10, beautiful restaurant, best Mexican food I’ve had in a long time! Also: I’d highly suggest visiting the Ranchos Plaza beforehand.
Absolutely one of the best restaurants and the carne ado vada is delicious. The sauce was my favorite. The sopapillas were large, warm, and delicious . We didn’t have a reservation but 25 min wait on a beautiful day and dining on the patio was very peaceful. We have been to Taos 5 time but first time at the Ranchos Plaza Grill. We will definitely return.
