Sitwell Arms Place appears to have several strengths that contribute to its positive reputation. Firstly, many guests appreciate the warm welcome and hospitality provided by the owners, Mal and Jean. They are consistently described as friendly and hardworking, making guests feel welcome from the moment they arrive. This personalized service adds to the overall positive experience at the establishment.
Another strength of Sitwell Arms Place is the cleanliness and quality of its facilities. Guests mention that the campsite is compact, clean, and level, with clean toilets and shower blocks. This attention to cleanliness contributes to the overall satisfaction of guests and creates a comfortable environment for them to enjoy their stay.
The food at Sitwell Arms Place is highly regarded by many visitors. They describe the meals as decent and tasty, served at a reasonable price. The basket meals are particularly praised for their nostalgic appeal and value for money. In addition, there seems to be an effort made to cater to various dietary preferences, as there is a vegan burger option available. This variety and quality of food choices contribute positively to the overall dining experience at the establishment.
One of the standout features of Sitwell Arms Place is its dog-friendly policy. Many guests appreciate the opportunity to bring their furry companions along and enjoy the facilities together. This dog-friendly atmosphere creates a welcoming and inclusive environment for pet owners, potentially attracting a niche audience that appreciates such accommodation options.
The location of Sitwell Arms Place is also seen as a strength by some. It is described as being off the beaten track but worth seeking out. This suggests that the establishment offers a sense of tranquility and escape from busy city life, making it an attractive destination for those who want to get away from it all.
While Sitwell Arms Place has several strengths, there are a few weaknesses that have been mentioned by some guests. One guest commented that the music choice during their visit was not to their liking and gave the impression that the establishment was not fully prepared or open for business. This suggests that there may be room for improvement in terms of the ambiance and entertainment offered at Sitwell Arms Place.
Another complaint raised by a guest was the limited choice of food. Specifically, the comment mentions the absence of vegetables as part of the meal options. While there is a vegan burger option available, it seems that the range of side dishes and vegetables is lacking. Expanding the food choices to include a wider variety of options, including vegetables, could help address this weakness and cater to a broader range of dietary preferences.
In conclusion, Sitwell Arms Place has several strengths that contribute to its positive reputation. The warm welcome and hospitality provided by the owners, the cleanliness of the facilities, the quality of the food, the dog-friendly atmosphere, and the off-the-beaten-track location all contribute to a positive guest experience. However, there are some areas that could be improved, such as the music choice and the limited food options. By addressing these weaknesses, Sitwell Arms Place could further enhance its appeal and continue to attract satisfied guests.

Just had our first night out in our roof tent. We couldn't have picked a better location. Mal & Jean are very welcoming and couldnt be any nicer. The wet rooms/toilets are spotless. The basket meals are a blast from the past, very tasty and value for money. Just as breakfast was. Definitely deserve 5*. Also had live music. Will be back soon
Amazing garden, lots of space. The did choices were very limited - no vegetables at all but there was a vegan burger option! The staff were all v helpful also.
We visited on Halloween weekend to a warm welcome with good food and entertainment from friendly staff and clientele. We had a great night eating, drinking, dancing to the themed disco and generally being merry.
We'll be going again, you should too
Called in for a pint early. Interesting choice of music, looked like it wasn’t really meant to be open. I wouldn’t rush back!
This is an excellent country stone built pub with character from the mid 19th century . The hosts are very welcoming. There is a limited real ale choice but we had London Pride which was in good condition. There is a massive play ground at the side of the pub. There is an interesting display of old photos in the bar which include some from the coal mine which existed from 1865 to 1965. Whilst you visit take time to have a look around some of the old buildings at the top of the village. The village,
Morton, is about 4 mile north of Alfreton just off the A61.
What a great find. Really great people. Great food at reasonable prices. The owners can't do enough for you really going the extra mile. This is in my faves list now ????
