Quick Facts About Taj Mahal
The Taj Mahal place in Buxton has received generally positive comments from customers, highlighting its strengths and weaknesses. These comments can help provide a comprehensive understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of the place.
One of the strengths mentioned is the quality of the food. Customers consistently praise the delicious and well-cooked Indian cuisine at the Taj Mahal. The locals even claim it to be the best curry house in Buxton. Comments like "amazing Indian cuisine cooked to perfection" and "great, tasty food" demonstrate this strength. The specific dishes mentioned, such as lamb chop starters, garlic chilli chicken, and tandoori meat platter, give a sense of the diverse and high-quality menu offered. Another strength mentioned is the ability to accommodate large groups efficiently, with food coming out together and drinks being topped up at the right time.
The flexibility and willingness of the staff to accommodate customer requests is another strength. One customer mentioned that they asked for something not on the menu, and it was no problem for the staff to fulfill their request. This shows that the staff is attentive to customer needs and willing to go above and beyond to satisfy them.
The availability of both dine-in and takeaway options is another strength mentioned by customers. This provides flexibility for customers who may prefer to dine in or enjoy their meal at home. Additionally, the comments indicate that booking a table in advance is recommended, suggesting that it is a popular place and further highlighting the strength of their offerings.
However, despite the positive comments, there are some weaknesses mentioned as well. One comment mentions that the staff appeared glum, which could potentially affect the overall dining experience. While the food made up for this weakness, it is important for the staff to provide a friendly and welcoming atmosphere to create a positive overall experience for customers.
Some customers also mentioned that the prices at Taj Mahal were slightly more expensive compared to their local curry houses. While this may be expected in a tourist destination like Buxton, it could be seen as a weakness for those accustomed to cheaper options.
Another weakness mentioned is the taste of certain dishes. One customer found their curry slightly bland compared to what they were used to, while another mentioned the fish masala as being tough and tasting awful. This suggests that there may be inconsistencies in the quality or taste of certain dishes, which could be improved upon to maintain a consistently high standard.
Overall, the strengths of Taj Mahal in Buxton include its delicious and well-cooked Indian cuisine, the ability to accommodate large groups efficiently, the willingness to fulfill customer requests, and the availability of both dine-in and takeaway options. However, there are also weaknesses to consider, such as potentially glum staff, slightly higher prices compared to local options, and inconsistencies in the taste of certain dishes. By addressing these weaknesses, Taj Mahal can further solidify its reputation as one of the best curry houses in Buxton.

We had dinner at the Taj Mahal last night and it was spot on !
Lamb chop starters , followed by garlic chilli chicken , lamb karahi accompanied with garlic naan breads and a couple of cold beers.
The interior decor is modern & bright and I wish the staff were as all of them looked quite glum.... however the food more than made up for this as it was superb and portion sizes quite generous.
I would definitely return so have no hesitation in recommending.
Called in quite late for an impromptu curry and was really pleased when they squeezed us in just after last orders.
The service was superb as usual and so was the food.
A really nice relaxed atmosphere added to a very nice evening.
Despite being late never felt rushed at all.
Will definitely call again, but next time get there a bit earlier to enjoy it even more.
Turned up on spec and was seated straightway, service was fast and good. My curry was nice but slightly bland to what I’m used to, my Son really enjoyed his curry though and rated it highly. Slightly more expensive than my local but then I expect that being in a tourist destination.
What a gem. Great, tasty food. Very good curry and tandoori meat plater worth mentioning. Still sizzling.
We had a fantastic meal here on Saturday 1st April, one of the best indian restaurants we have visited. Everything we ordered was superb. Definitely worth a visit
Staff wanted to be elsewhere, food poor & expensive. Don’t go.
‘Special’ king prawn comes with head & shell on! Tough fish masala that tasted awful apparently isn’t awful, it’s just that most other restaurants don’t cook it right…
