Quick Facts About The Crown
The Crown Place has received a range of comments and reviews from customers, providing insight into its strengths and weaknesses. By analyzing these comments, we can identify key areas where the establishment excels and areas that need improvement.
One recurring theme in the comments is the attitude of the management. One customer mentions a "disgusting attitude" from the management, while another criticizes the arrogant response given by the owner in a public argument on a reviewing platform. These comments suggest a weakness in customer service and an issue with how management handles feedback. A good business practice is to listen to customer complaints, address them professionally, and work towards resolving any issues. In this case, the management's response seems defensive and confrontational, which can create a negative impression of the establishment.
However, there are positive comments about the staff being friendly and attentive, indicating a strength in customer service. One customer specifically mentions the friendly staff and another praises the landlord and landlady for turning the place around. These comments show that there are instances where the staff provides a welcoming and enjoyable experience to customers. This strength in customer service can be built upon by ensuring consistency in the level of friendliness and attentiveness displayed by the staff.
Another strength highlighted by customers is the quality of the food. Positive comments include descriptions such as "amazing food," "decent food," and compliments regarding specific items like the roast, apple crumble, leg of lamb, and game pie. These comments indicate that the food served at The Crown Place is well-received by customers, with some even considering it worth the detour from another location. The establishment can capitalize on this strength by consistently delivering high-quality meals and potentially expanding the menu to offer a greater variety of options.
The atmosphere of the pub is mentioned in both positive and negative comments. One customer describes it as a "great atmosphere," while another states that it is not their "sort of place." This suggests a subjective element to the atmosphere, where different individuals may have varying preferences. It is important for The Crown Place to have a clear target audience in mind and create an atmosphere that appeals to this specific demographic. It may not be possible to please everyone, but by understanding their target market, the establishment can strive to create an atmosphere that resonates with its intended customers.
Other strengths include the availability of free parking, a nice sunny garden, and hand sanitizers during the Covid-19 pandemic. These factors contribute to the convenience and safety of customers, enhancing their overall experience at the establishment. The Crown Place should continue to prioritize these aspects and ensure that they are maintained to provide a positive and comfortable environment for visitors.
Despite these strengths, there are weaknesses that need to be addressed. Some customers mention limitations in the menu, with one comment suggesting that it is extremely limited and does not live up to its predecessor. This indicates a need for improvement in terms of menu options and variety. The establishment could benefit from conducting market research and gathering feedback from customers to understand their preferences and expectations when it comes to food choices. By updating and diversifying the menu, The Crown Place has the potential to attract a wider range of customers.
Another weakness highlighted in one comment is the noise level in the pub on a Saturday night. The customer mentions that it is not a place for a quiet pint, and that they prefer a more relaxed atmosphere. This suggests a disconnect between the expectations of some customers and the actual atmosphere provided by the establishment. The Crown Place can address this by clearly communicating the type of atmosphere they offer, potentially through their website or promotional materials, to attract customers who are seeking a livelier pub experience.
Overall, The Crown Place has strengths in terms of friendliness of staff, food quality, and certain aspects of the atmosphere. However, there are weaknesses that need to be addressed, including issues with management attitude, limited menu options, and a potential mismatch between customer expectations and the actual atmosphere. By taking constructive criticism into account, actively seeking feedback from customers, and making improvements based on this feedback, The Crown Place can enhance its strengths and address its weaknesses to provide a better overall experience for its patrons.

Disgusting attitude from management

How many choices of meat do you want? 3 is plenty surely! No we don’t offer starters on Sundays as we are not a restaurant we are a simple village pub. Dessert wise it all depends on how busy we have been before each Sunday as lately we do run out of food very quickly. The coffee machine was unfortunately out of order due to a technical fault but had since been fixed. My staff are always very attentive to all customers and I find your comments very unfair and we always get great feedback regarding the atmosphere. If the pub itself is quiet and no customers in then yes the atmosphere won’t be there so unless you expect us to have music blaring out or the staff to do some dancing for you then I’m not really sure what else we can do. Maybe a high profile restaurant with a nightclub attached to it would be more your style.
Thank you for your custom anyway.
The above is the most arrogant response I have ever heard to a bad review. Having worked in the hospitality industry for over 20 years I can certainly attest that the customer is not always right but to have a public argument over a reviewing platform does not make good business sense.
This establishment does have an extremely limited menu now and does not live up to its predecessor, my advice to the owners;buck up your idea and take constructive criticism and build on your business model.
Visited on Saturday night, definitely not the place to go for a quiet pint. Other opinions are available, we're all different and most others appeared to be enjoying themselves not being able to hear themselves think.
If you like that, and obviously people do, it's great - not my sort of place though, I was born old! Good beer though so probably early on or lunchtime it'd be fine.
Due to covid restrictions dining is outside. Plenty of space and nice sunny garden. Hand sanitizers are available. Food was okay, but the battered fish was not fully fried. Free parking at the front and at the back.
Food and staff ok untill I was asked to move my car, 45 after being seated. Dinner was taken to the kitchen to keep warm
No reason, no apology, when this was mentioned, no acknowledgement, just asked if we needed more knappkines. Think the locals complained, I have a disabled daughter. Will not be visiting again.
Lovely cosy pub. Staff were friendly. The roast was really nice and appreciated own gravy boat on the plate.
Also the apple crumble was good too.
Just amazing food! My leg of lamb was magnificent-size and taste! My friend had game pie. Definitely worth the detour from Tondu to LHR. Staff extremely friendly.
Decent food, good prices, easy parking, old fashioned local pub.
Great atmosphere, wonderful food. Landlord and Landlady have really turned the place around. You can see why it has won TripAdvisor Pub of the Year. Highly recommended.
