These positive comments indicate that the Half Moon Inn has several strengths. Firstly, the pub has a great atmosphere and is inviting, which enhances the overall experience for customers. The landlord and landlady are highly regarded and are said to be remarkable people. This indicates that they are likely friendly, attentive, and provide excellent customer service. The staff are also praised as outstanding, which suggests that they are attentive, efficient, and contribute to the positive atmosphere of the pub.
The food offered at the Half Moon Inn is highly regarded, with the ploughman's lunch being particularly praised. The generous portions are mentioned as a positive aspect, ensuring that customers receive good value for their money. Additionally, the choice of beverages is commended as being incredible, indicating a wide selection of drinks to cater to different tastes and preferences.
Furthermore, the mention of the Melton Mowbray Folk Trail highlights that the Half Moon Inn is a venue for live music and events. This adds to the pub's appeal and indicates that it provides entertainment for customers.
However, the pub also has some weaknesses as mentioned in one of the comments. The individual states that the pub had a funny smell and was not the cleanest. This can create a negative impression for potential customers and may deter them from entering the pub. It is important for the pub to address these cleanliness issues to improve the overall customer experience.
Another weakness mentioned is the quality of the food and service. One customer had a negative experience with cold and unappetizing food, as well as slow and unresponsive service. This indicates a lack of attention to detail and customer satisfaction. Additionally, the customer's complaint was not handled effectively by the staff, leaving them dissatisfied and frustrated. The pub should prioritize improving the quality of their food and service, as well as ensuring effective customer complaint handling to avoid negative experiences.
Additionally, the comment about hearing two songs at once due to the karaoke and Duke box suggests some issues with sound management and potentially overcrowding. This can impact the overall enjoyment for customers and should be addressed to provide a better experience.
Lastly, the mention of the pub being opened by several people who did not enter suggests that the pub may lack a strong initial impression. This could be due to the appearance or presentation of the pub, which may not be appealing to potential customers. The Half Moon Inn should focus on creating an attractive and inviting exterior to entice more customers to enter.
In conclusion, the Half Moon Inn has several strengths, including a great atmosphere, remarkable landlord and landlady, excellent food, a wide choice of beverages, and outstanding staff. However, it also has weaknesses, such as cleanliness issues, poor food quality and service, sound management issues, and the lack of a strong initial impression. By addressing these weaknesses and capitalizing on its strengths, the Half Moon Inn can enhance its reputation and provide a better overall experience for its customers.

Great pub. I played there as part of the Melton Mowbray Folk Trail. Recommended!
Very inviting, great atmosphere, the landlord and landlady are remarkable people (locals aren’t too bad either) the food is very nice, the choice of beverages are incredible but most of all the staff are outstanding (if i do say so myself)... jokes aside. It is an absolute pleasure to work in such a great pub. Credit to the landlord and landlady.
Nice place ,,good beer,pleasant staff
Probably one of the best ploughman's lunch ever. The Melton platter. Very generous portions. The standard ploughman's platter was also very well received.
Cosy little pub but the food is the worst I've ever had in a pub and the service was almost the worst. I went in with my wife,my daughter and my grandson. It was busy which is usually a good sign. I am disabled so my daughter went to the bar our cold drinks were served up immediately but our coffee took at least 20 minutes and mine tasted like cheap instant. We persevered and eventually food began arriving two plates between 4 people one with 2 cheeseburgers the other with 2 hot pork cobs. Burgers were almost completely cold and the edges were crunchy. The pork rolls were disgusting almost freezing cold half slice òf pork the stuffing tasted like it had just come out of the fridge. We started eating because we were very hungry and service was so slow we didn't want to interrupt them as we were still waiting for chips that came with the burgers. Eventually one very small dish of chips some were warm some of them were raw. Now we decided we had to complain my daughter managed to catch barmaid as she was dropping some fodder for another victim. She said sorrry I will get my parents from upstairs another wait then a lady turned up sat down I started to explain what was wrong and why we were unable to eat especially look warm pork as this can carry disease.she didn't wait for me to finish just interrupted and said "all I can do is apologise". I asked her to try one of the chips she just repeated her statement twice more she did not say anything else at all. I was gobsmacked and just looked at her and walked out before I lost my temper. To summarise disgusting food and appalling customer service DO NOT EAT HERE
Great night out on a fri and sat tiny tony awesome
Not a brilliant first impression, funny smell and not the cleanest pub ever. But brave that and the beer is good, we also risked the pie and cheese Melton taster plate which was very nice. I like to try pubs like this, it could be soooo good if someone just put some effort in. Lost count of the number of people who opened the door and didn't come in, funny old world!
Because the Duke box was allowing people to pick songs and the karaoke was on we kept hearing two songs at once, which was weird. Other than that, decent prices, good atmosphere, and spacious yet comfortable smoking area
