Quick Facts About The Hub Cafe
The Hub Cafe receives overwhelmingly positive feedback in the comments. Its strengths lie in its diverse menu options, attentive and friendly staff, beautiful location, and dog-friendly atmosphere. However, there are a few weaknesses such as inconsistent cooking of sausages and disappointing coffee.
One of the major strengths of The Hub Cafe is its menu diversity. Customers rave about the Stornoway black pudding, which is a standout item for many. They also praise the vegan options, with one reviewer specifically mentioning the full Scottish vegan breakfast as a highlight. The presence of vegetarian and vegan options, such as veggie haggis, vegetarian black pudding, and vegetarian bacon, is highly appreciated by customers.
The quality of the ingredients is often mentioned as another strength. Customers remark on the top-notch ingredients used in dishes such as the chicken and tarragon sandwich, which is described as one of the best sandwiches they've ever had. The cakes and hot beverages, such as the coffee and hot chocolate, are also highly praised.
The friendly and attentive service is repeatedly highlighted as a strength. Despite the cafe being busy, the staff are able to maintain a high level of attentiveness and friendliness towards customers. This is reflected in the positive comments about the staff going over and above to meet the needs of vegan customers and even gifting cake to celebrate a customer's birthday.
The beautiful woodland walk right at the front of the building is an added bonus that customers appreciate. It provides a pleasant atmosphere and an opportunity for customers to enjoy the outdoors before or after their meal.
In terms of weaknesses, there are a few points to consider. One customer mentions that the link sausages could be improved by cooking them more thoroughly or cutting through and frying the middle. This suggests that the sausages may not consistently meet customer expectations in terms of cooking.
Another slight weakness is the disappointing coffee mentioned by one customer. They describe the coffee as more "white coffee" than flat white, indicating that the coffee was not made to their preferred standards. This suggests that the cafe could improve its coffee offerings to match the high quality of other menu items.
In conclusion, The Hub Cafe has numerous strengths that make it a highly recommended place to dine. These strengths include its diverse menu options, friendly and attentive staff, beautiful location, and dog-friendly atmosphere. However, there are areas for improvement such as the consistency of sausage cooking and the quality of the coffee. Overall, it seems that The Hub Cafe has cultivated a positive reputation and has a lot to offer to its customers.

They serve Stornoway black pudding, and that is what we went on the hunt for. Lovely big breakfast that lasted us all day. Everything was lovely, even down to the beans and mushrooms. My only advice would be to cook link sausages more or cut through and fry the middle to be sure. But honestly will be back as it was delicious. Added bonus was the beautiful woodland walk right at the front of the building.
Was here yesterday. They serve an all day breakfast which is exactly what we were craving! We are 2 vegans and the vegan options were fantastic. I had a full Scottish vegan breakfast and my partner had 2 rolls with bacon, black pudding and sausages. The server went over and above to meet our needs. The staff were very friendly and attentive despite how busy the cafe was. Clearly a very popular place. Would highly recommend to any vegans (and otherwise!)
The chicken and tarragon sandwich was on another level, top quality ingredients. One of the best sandwiches I've had, if I'm honest. Looking forward to going through the menu. A gem of a place for lunch. Cakes look amazing too.
Excellent food and very friendly service. Brilliant selection of breakfast options especially for vegetarians and vegans! It is rare to find so much choice for veggie including items such as veggie haggis, veggies black pudding and veggie bacon! Would highly recommend.
My wife and I were looking for somewhere to have breakfast on the last day of our holiday. The Hub was recommended to us and we're very thankful it was. The staff were very friendly and attentive, the cafe itself was charming, clean and tidy, and the food was excellent and certainly value for money. We would recommend The Hub and it's staff to anyone looking for good food, served by friendly folk. We wish we'd known about it earlier in our stay.
Absolute gem of a place, fantastic food, friendly service and very dog friendly. Great location too for a walk around the castle grounds to work off your cake!
Fantastic food and hospitality - very welcome after a few days on the bike. The tikka mayo was awesome. It would be 5/5 but the coffee was a little disappointing. More “white coffee” than flat white.
Had a really great slap up cooked breakfast - got large ones and regular probably would have filled us up!! Coffee and hot chocolate were fab too. But most of all the atmosphere and staff were wonderfully nice, they even gifted us some cake since we were there on my 21st birthday! :') I was so touched, and it was a lovely start to the day, thank you.
