Quick Facts About The New Ship
The New Ship place has received both positive and negative feedback from its customers. In order to evaluate its strengths and weaknesses, it is necessary to analyze the comments provided.
Starting with the strengths, the comment mentions that the New Ship place is a quieter establishment with plenty of space. This is an attractive feature for customers who prefer a more relaxed and peaceful environment. Additionally, the fact that the place is dog-friendly is another strength, as it allows pet owners to bring their furry companions along. The presence of a car park is also mentioned, which is convenient for customers who visit by car. Lastly, the chilled atmosphere is highlighted, indicating that the New Ship place provides a laid-back setting.
The bar is complimented for being nice and the staff for being pleasant, indicating good service. The presence of a nice conservatory with beautiful views is also mentioned, creating a visually appealing aspect of the place. The staff is generally praised for being efficient and friendly, suggesting a positive customer service experience. Furthermore, the wine is described as tasty, which adds to the overall enjoyment for customers who appreciate a good drink.
The food at the New Ship place is described as fantastic, with particular emphasis on the dessert that is said to be "to die for." This positive feedback indicates that the quality of the food is generally high and enjoyable for customers. Moreover, the Sunday dinner is highlighted as a good value for money, with no additional charge for Yorkshire puddings. This demonstrates that the New Ship place offers reasonably priced meals, which is a positive aspect for customers.
However, there are also weaknesses mentioned in the comments. One customer expresses disappointment with their meal, specifically the over-seasoned mashed swede, bland roasties, lumpy gravy, and soggy sprouts. These negative aspects of the food quality suggest areas for improvement in the New Ship place's kitchen. Additionally, another customer mentions that the conservatory was uncomfortably hot due to the heating being on full blast. This negative experience with the temperature control indicates a potential issue with the management or maintenance of the facilities.
Another weakness that is mentioned is the fact that the New Ship place was not serving food and was actively seeking a chef. This indicates potential inconsistency with food service and raises concerns about the stability and reliability of the establishment. Additionally, this may deter customers who specifically sought out the place for its food offerings.
Finally, one customer strongly criticizes the food quality and overall experience at the New Ship place. They describe the steak as "awful," overcooked, thin, and resembling boot leather. The comment also highlights the lack of freshness in the ingredients and the state of the napkins. This negative review may significantly impact the reputation of the New Ship place, as it suggests severe issues with the quality control and attention to detail in the kitchen and overall cleanliness of the establishment. This negative feedback also raises concerns about overpricing.
In conclusion, the strengths of the New Ship place include being a quieter venue with plenty of space, dog-friendly, having a car park, and providing a chilled atmosphere. Positive aspects also include a nice bar, pleasant staff, a beautiful conservatory with views, and tasty wine. However, weaknesses include negative experiences with the food quality, inconsistencies in food service, uncomfortable temperature in the conservatory, and negative feedback on the overall food experience. The negative comment about the food quality, in particular, may severely impact the reputation and customer perception of the New Ship place. Therefore, the establishment should address these weaknesses and focus on improving the quality and consistency of the food as well as the overall customer experience.

Despite being 55 years old, my wife and I only visited the new ship for the first time a few days ago ..... I know , we are very late.
We were looking for a quieter place with plenty of space, dog friendly, car park and a chilled atmosphere.
Well folks...... We found it.
We have been back again and will continue to do so
Nice bar and pleasant staff.
What more could you ask ????
Really nice place, the conservatory was lovely and had beautiful views. The staff were lovely and the wine was tasty.
Food was fantastic and desert was to die for, staff very efficient and friendly will definitely be back.
Lovely Sunday dinner (£8) & no additional charge for Yorkshire puds, unlike some restaurants
We hadn't been here for quite a while, and we most probably won't go back for a while.
The staff were lovely and friendly but one or two things let the place down.
FOOD - the mashed swede was over seasoned with pepper to the extent that it made my mouth tingle and burn - not nice at all, and it's usually one of my favourite veg. The roasties were bland and tasted of cooking oil. The gravy was noticeably lumpy. Sprouts were soggy. Only the carrots and mash were enjoyable. The slice of lamb was quite nice, though. For the price of £7 for a 'small' carvery, it was poor in relation to other venues we have tried.
CONSERVATORY It's lovely and bright in the conservatory, but it was so hot!
The heating was on full blast, and with the sun streaming in, it was very uncomfortable.
I'm sorry, I can only give 3 *. In the past, it would have been at least 4*
Not serving food, and advertising "chef wanted"
A nice place for a drink though
We used to live close to this pub 25yrs ago, at that time it was very popular with the locals and passing trade. It does have a car park and lots of outdoor seating, a large conservatory area but, when we where in they were looking for a chef.
Would not recommend the food it wasn't the best, the steak was absolutely awful, over cook, thin and like boot leather, nothing was fresh. The napkins around the cutlery were dry and crusty after being there for so long, the worst place I've eaten in a long time. Over priced and rubbish.
