Quick Facts About The Old Crown Inn

The Old Crown Inn is a pub that provides a great welcome and friendly service to its customers. A group of 22 walkers visited the pub and were impressed by the warm reception they received. The staff went out of their way to accommodate them, even lighting a blazing fire for their comfort. The large pots of tea and clean toilets also contributed to a positive experience. However, the walkers' afternoon walk was impacted by the rain, which made it a bit soggy.
One aspect that stands out about The Old Crown Inn is its fantastic location, building, and atmosphere. The pub is housed in a charming building, and the overall decor adds to its appeal. The comment also states that the pub has a good choice of beers and that the staff is great.
Despite these positive aspects, one comment suggests that there is something missing that would make this place truly amazing. It is unclear what exactly this missing element is, but it indicates that the pub falls short of being a go-to local establishment. However, the comment also mentions that new owners are taking over. This change in ownership may bring about positive changes and improvements that could enhance the overall experience.
One reviewer had a negative experience with the food at The Old Crown Inn. They described it as "absolutely horrendous" and complained about being stared at by one of the regulars who made inappropriate comments in front of children. This incident certainly impacted their perception of the pub and left them with a negative impression.
On the other hand, a different reviewer had a positive experience and praised the friendly service, good and reasonably priced beer, and the overall cleanliness and welcoming atmosphere of the pub. They were particularly impressed by the excellent and friendly service provided by the Old Crown Inn team.
Another review focused on the Sunday roast served at the pub. The drinks were described as nice and reasonably priced, and the roasts themselves were tasty and served hot. However, there were some minor issues with the service, such as the cutlery and condiments not being brought to the table beforehand and a slight delay in serving all the meals. Despite these minor hiccups, the reviewer still found the experience enjoyable and would visit again.
Additional positive comments highlight the welcoming nature of The Old Crown Inn and the quality of the beer, specifically Guinness. One reviewer praised the service and the high quality of the Guinness, stating that it was the best they had in a while. They also mentioned playing pool with local regular customers, further emphasizing the friendly atmosphere of the pub.
In conclusion, The Old Crown Inn has several strengths, including a great welcome, friendly staff, clean facilities, and a fantastic location and building. However, there are some weaknesses mentioned, such as concerns over the food quality and an incident involving an unruly regular. The potential change in ownership offers hope for improvement, and overall the pub seems to provide a welcoming and enjoyable experience for many customers.

Best TL Reviews

A group of 22 walkers used this pub Wednesday lunchtime (having first eaten our sandwiches at the seats by Woodgate Valley Visitor Centre) and received a great welcome. They even put a blazing fire on specially for us (& turned it off as we left ????) We were impressed by the huge pots of tea, friendly staff & clean loos. Alas it started pouring while we were there so the afternoon walk was a bit soggy. ????️
Fantastic location, building and atmosphere.
Its just missing that one thing that makes this place a goto proper local.
The building and decor is great, good choice of beers and great staff.
But its just missing that one thing that makes it amazing.
Ive heard new owners are taking over, if so cant wait to see how things change.
One thing, this place isnt a hotel so dont know why google are listing it as a hotel??????
Food was absolutely horrendous! While we were eating, we were stared at by one of the pubs regulars! An old man who thought it ok to swear constantly in front of the children. He even at one point said he couldn't f-in stand the noise from the kids. (They weren't even making noise) we eat what little food we were given and left.
I've just recently started working in the area and I've been looking at the local places and seeing what is around. I was thoroughly impressed with the Old Crown Inn. Excellent and friendly service, good and reasonably priced beer, clean and welcoming place. It was only a short visit but hopefully the first of many as we would love to try the food too. Keep up the great work Old Crown Inn team, looking forward to visiting again soon ????
Went there for a Sunday roast with 2 friends. Firstly our drinks were very nice ( Carling. Worthington smooth flow. Cider. Good price and friendly efficient service. The roasts were very tasty and served HOT!. That was a bonus. However. Before the food was served all the cutlery and condiments should have been brought over to our table. Also the service of the 4 medium roast beef dinners was a bit staggered. We had to wait about 3 minutes for the last meal to be served. However. 2 lovely roast beef dinners. 4 drinks. 22.00 not bad. Service was friendly and polite. Will definitely go there again.
Great Pub, friendly staff and lovely atmosphere
The Old Crown is always welcoming. The beer is spot-on.
I'm giving maximum ratings for the quality of the Guinness and the service.
Very quiet tonight (9.11.21), and yet, the Guinness is the best I've had for a while.
Not my first time here. I've had a couple of games if pool with local regular customers.
Incredible to think other pubs close by with poor quality ale are busier.
If you like Guinness give it a go.
