One strength mentioned is that it is a lovely stop off through the peaks. This suggests that the location of The Olive Tree is desirable and offers a pleasant atmosphere for visitors. Additionally, the comment mentions that the portion size of the roast dinner was huge and tasty, which indicates that the food served at The Olive Tree is generous in quantity and enjoyable in flavor.

The presence of a farm shop is also mentioned as a positive feature. This indicates that The Olive Tree offers a variety of local produce for customers to purchase, adding to the overall experience and providing convenience for those looking for fresh and local products.
Despite these positive features, there are also weaknesses mentioned in the comments. Lovely stop off through the peaks. Their hearty roast dinner was a toughie to get down. Portion was huge and also very tasty.
Wow, what a rubbish experience, asked for a strong black coffee and was served with weak, luke warm, instant. The staff were rude, the waitress who, served our drinks just plonked a tray on the edge of our table and walked away. Not a word! Five drinks came to about £16:00. Give it a wide birth.
We've driven past The Olive tree a number of times, wondering how the farm shop and cafe looked, we wasn't disappointed, 4 coffees Sunday lunch and a piece of cake was yummy, great food and friendly staff ???? ????
In the middle of a circular walk.. what a great half way stop. Sadly at 11.30 after a full English earlier, we couldn’t sample more than a drink and a shared shortbread but food and shop contents looked superb. Very friendly staff
I was there yesterday (Tuesday 25th Jan) at lunchtime and to all intents and purposes it was locked up and closed. No signs or information outside - just looks abandoned. Could be some other reason for this... but no cars on car park and barriers (badly bent and damaged) down.
Be warned. Small coffee from a standard brand, powdered coffee jar, 8 ounce and a scone, plain and simple; no frills take away. £4.80.
Update 28/03/22
I have an urge to add that for what I had, I should have paid no more than £2.40. That would have been a fair price. The site itself seemed well prepared for the discerning clientele, but for me it was, this time, just 'Grab and Go' at rip-off cost. I would go again for an indoor Sunday lunch and I'm sure it would be worthy of four stars. I should have given two stars really but that's just being revengeful.
Great choice of food and delicious, generous portions. Good atmosphere too.
Good selection of local produce available as well as small plates of food/tea and coffee :)
