Quick Facts About The Rolle Quay Inn
The Rolle Quay Inn has a number of strengths that contribute to its positive reputation. Firstly, its location is highlighted as a positive aspect. Being situated near the Tarka Trail and only a few minutes' walk from Barnstaple town centre, it offers convenient access to local attractions and amenities. Additionally, the availability of parking is mentioned as being satisfactory, which adds to the convenience for guests.
The friendly and helpful staff also receive praise, with multiple comments commending their assistance and service. This is seen as a major strength of the inn, as the staff's positive attitude creates a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere for guests.
The bar at The Rolle Quay Inn is described as being nice and offering a range of traditional drinks. It is specifically mentioned that the real ales, lagers, and ciders are of good quality. This is seen as a positive attribute, as it adds to the overall experience of staying at the inn and contributes to its traditional British pub appeal.
The comfort and cleanliness of the rooms are highlighted as positive aspects. Although described as basic, the rooms are reported to be comfortable and tastefully decorated. Guests appreciate the cleanliness of the rooms, noting that they are spotless. This contributes to a pleasant stay and good value for money.
The pub food at The Rolle Quay Inn receives mixed reviews. While some guests praise the carvery, mentioning that it is great for the price and offers large portions of home-cooked food, others find it to be mediocre. Criticisms include stinginess with the meat and the potatoes being cooked too far in advance. However, despite these criticisms, the food is seen as good value for money by some guests. It is worth mentioning that a vegetarian option for the carvery is missed by one guest, which highlights a potential weakness in the menu.
Regarding weaknesses, one significant issue that is repeatedly mentioned is the poor state of the gents toilets. Guests describe the floor as being soaked and smelling of urine, suggesting a possible issue with the drains. Although it is acknowledged that repairs were being conducted, this aspect of the inn is seen as a letdown by guests.
Another weakness mentioned is the boss's abrupt behavior towards the waitresses. While guests praise the waitresses and bar staff, noting their friendly and attentive service, the boss's demeanor is seen as negative. This may create a slightly uncomfortable atmosphere for guests and reflects poorly on the management of the inn.
In conclusion, The Rolle Quay Inn has several strengths, including its good location, friendly and helpful staff, nice bar, comfortable and clean rooms, and reasonably priced pub food. However, it is important to address and rectify the issues with the gents toilets and ensure a more pleasant working environment for staff to maintain a consistently positive guest experience.
Best TL Reviews
Good location and parking was ok. Very friendly helpful staff only let down by poor gents toilets. Floor was soaked and smelt of pee. Looks like they may have an issue with the drains that was under repair so hopefu6will be fixed soon
Carvery was very mediocre. Stingy with the meat and the Roast potatoes had been cooked quite some time ago. But the young girls serving were doing a good job despite the boss being quite abrupt with them. Wouldn’t go back for food but it looks to be a nice pub for a drink 5/10 for food 10/10 for waitresses and bar staff
The room was comfortable but basic, The bar was really nice and I would definitely recommend the Sunday carvery. Best I've eaten in a long time. Pop in if you're ever in Barnstaple. Parking right outside ????????
1st visit on the tarka trail pub crawl. Didn't eat but food we saw looked good, nice Ale
Great carvery for the price. Large portions and proper home cooking. Only criticism is there's no vegetarian option for a carvery which can be a nuisance as my partner is vegetarian. Highly recommended though ????
Great traditional British pub, with good traditional facilities. Our party enjoyed real good quality traditional (there's that word again) ales, lagers and ciders. Staff were exceptionally friendly and even assisted in transporting us 5 miles back home.
Stayed here for 4 nights, as a base for walking the South West Coast Path. The location was ideal. It's only a few minutes walk into the town centre with easy access to bus routes.
The staff were really friendly and the landlord was welcoming, friendly and very helpful.
The room was small but spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated.
The pub food was good and the whole stay gave good value for money.
Excellent service for a late arriving cyclist. Helpful staff and good draught beer. Pleasant overnight stop in centre of Barnstaple.
