Quick Facts About The Royal Oak

The Royal Oak place has several strengths based on the comments provided. Firstly, the pub is highly recommended for its Sunday roast dinner, especially for large parties. The meals are served quickly and hot, with no mistakes. The food is described as fresh and made from scratch, giving it a homemade feel. The separate servings of vegetables, such as carrots, broccoli, and cauliflower cheese, are a great benefit for those who may not be keen on vegetables. The sticky toffee pudding is also praised for its tastiness.
The staff at The Royal Oak are another strength of the place. Several comments mention the friendly and accommodating nature of the staff, with one person specifically mentioning Jo for making them feel welcome. The hard work of the staff, especially during busy times, is also appreciated.
The pub's atmosphere and ambiance receive positive feedback as well. One comment mentions a good atmosphere and great service on a Friday night visit, while another comment praises the cozy nature of the pub. This indicates that The Royal Oak provides a pleasant environment for customers to enjoy their meals.
The pub's versatility is another strength, as evident from the comment about hosting a Christmas party in the barn. The fact that the barn has its own bar is seen as a positive aspect, making it convenient for larger groups to have a dedicated space for their event. The quick and efficient service during the party is also commended.
There are a few weaknesses or areas for improvement mentioned in the comments. One comment states that the pub was not as good as it used to be, with overcooked and tough scallops, a small portion of beef, and a tough Yorkshire pudding. This feedback suggests that the consistency of the food may vary and that certain dishes may not meet expectations.
Despite this, the majority of the comments express satisfaction with the food and service. Overall, The Royal Oak place seems to have strengths in terms of its Sunday roast dinner, fresh and homemade food, friendly staff, accommodating atmosphere, and versatility for hosting events. However, there may be room for improvement in terms of consistent food quality.

- First, I VERY highly recommend this pub for the Sunday roast dinner! Especially if you're a big party. There were 18 of us in the ole barn (which has been converted) and the meals all came out quick and hot which was very impressive. There were no mistakes either, the same with the pudding.
- It's all fresh fresh fresh!
I've never had such a delicious roast dinner from a pub before. Everything was fresh. Its nice when everything is made from scratch, rather than bought as bulk and just needs heating up.
The carrots, broccoli and cauliflower cheese comes separate which is a great benefit for those who aren't keen on veg. (The picture I've attached is missing the cauliflower cheese! But damn it was GOOD and plenty of it).
The sticky toffee pudding was also VERY tasty! (this is getting my hungry just talking about it)
- The staff were very lovely, especially Jo! She made me feel very welcome which was great!
- Good job to the chef - Mat!
I'll definitely be back!
(TIP: If you're a big hungry lad, I highly recommend the Large roast)
Had a great night out with a group friends. Over 20 of us in all so we were out in the barn. It was ideal for a large group. Staff worked very hard, the food was very good (Christmas menu) and all served very quickly. Will be returning for a regular Sunday roast in the future.
Had a group Christmas party in the barn. This was particularly good as it has its own bar which was manned the entire time.
The food was hot and plenty sum.
The staff were helpful, friendly and always willing to accommodate any requests.
What a find on a Friday. Naturally had to try their fish and chips. Lovely. Good atmosphere, great service and cozy too. Very happy. Would highly recommend.
A bit of a let down today sadly. Not as good as it used to be. Scallops very over cooked and tough. Beef was ok but smallish portion and tough Yorkshire pud. Will give it a miss in future
Fabulous Sunday lunch. Good servicecand hubby said beer was very good.
We had The Sunday Roast and yet again we weren’t disappointed our group was a large group and not one was unhappy Thank you first to Chef it was a fantastic lunch , then the staff who served us you all did an excellent job and lastly Jo for putting all these people together and making it such a special place to eat and drink
First visit for myself and family who I was visiting. Lovely roast dinner. Nut roast was superb, family enjoyed the meat choices. Friendly service. Servers were helpful, polite and kept smiling although the pub was really busy ( a testament to me that the food must be good ). Good value for money. Also dog friendly. Will be back next time I stay with my family
