Quick Facts About The Smithfield

The Smithfield place has several strengths based on the comments provided. One of the strengths is the efficiency of their service. Many reviewers mentioned that their food arrived quickly and they did not experience long waits to be seated or receive their orders. This efficiency is especially important in an airport setting where travelers may be on tight schedules and do not have a lot of time to waste. Quick service allows them to enjoy their meal without feeling rushed.
Another strength of The Smithfield place is the convenience of their table ordering system. Reviewers mentioned that it was easy to order using their phones and that there were charge points at every table, which is a notable feature for travelers who may need to charge their electronic devices. This convenience adds value to the overall dining experience and can enhance customer satisfaction.
The quality of the food is also mentioned as a strength by several reviewers. While it may not be fine dining, it is described as good pub food. The chicken burger and sweet potato fries, as well as the beer sausages and avocado jam, are specifically mentioned as being enjoyable. This indicates that The Smithfield place offers a variety of menu options that cater to different tastes and preferences.
The interior of the restaurant is also mentioned as a positive aspect. Reviewers describe it as nice and even a bit vintage. The ambiance can contribute to the overall dining experience and make customers feel comfortable and relaxed while they wait for their flights. This is particularly important in an airport setting where travelers may be stressed or anxious.
However, there are some weaknesses that are mentioned in the comments as well. One of the weaknesses is the cleanliness of the tables, menus, and ketchup bottle. While this may not directly impact the taste of the food, cleanliness is an important factor in maintaining a positive dining experience. Customers expect a certain level of cleanliness and may be put off by dirty tables or menus.
Another weakness mentioned is poor customer service. Some reviewers reported having to wait for a significant amount of time for their drinks and experiencing difficulties in getting cutlery. Additionally, staff members were described as rude and confrontational in some instances. Poor customer service can greatly impact the overall dining experience and may discourage customers from returning or recommending the restaurant to others.
The high prices are also mentioned as a weakness. Some reviewers felt that the prices were too high for the quality of the food and compared it unfavorably to other dining options. This could potentially deter customers from choosing The Smithfield place over other restaurants in the airport.
In conclusion, The Smithfield place has several strengths such as efficient service, convenient table ordering, good food, and a pleasant atmosphere. However, there are also weaknesses including cleanliness issues, poor customer service, and high prices. It is important for the restaurant to address these weaknesses and ensure that they are providing a consistently positive dining experience for their customers.

Best TL Reviews

Without a doubt one of my better airport meal experiences. Not sure why it gets such bad reviews...
There wasn't a massive queue like the other restaurants so decided to give it a go.
We ordered from the table using our phones. Very easy process and no issues with the setup. It can also be order at the bar if you would prefer.
Food arrived really quickly and honestly everything was good. I had no problems with anything.
Is it fine dining food? No. It is pretty good pub food in an airport - absolutely.
I ordered a chicken burger and sweet potato fries and was happy with everything.
There are also charge points at every table which is just amazing.
I wouldn't hesitate to stop here again.
Don’t really understand the low rating of this place on Google but I was pleasantly impressed. It was a Saturday morning flight so I expected it to be busy. But they had plenty of staff on hand (or just about the right amount) so there was not that long of a wait to be seated or receive our food and drinks. Food was good too.
Basically the place is ok, I couldn't use the table ordering due to some site issues..
Luckily a nice waitress came in replacing the website.
Food ok, price is fair for an airport.
In the end a nice service makes the difference.
Good choice for food and drinks while waiting for your flight. The interior is quite nice and a bit vintage. Orders taken only at the bar, and it can get busy on the waiting line. Tables, menus and ketchup bottle weren't very clean though.
I'm not sure it was food. I'm not sure whether the stuff on the plate, or the menu itself, was supposed to be the better tasting food. I don't know why it seemed to be a massive chore to be asked for cutlery three times. I don't know why it had to be banged down pointedly on the table. I don't know why it was mostly beans when I asked for no beans. I don't know why it cost more than a decent two course Prix Fixe in a good restaurant. Oh yes. It's at an airport so they don't need to give any tosses. Avoid. I understand the toilet paper in the loo opposite may be more appealing.
Food was fair, and to their credit came out fast. From order to delivery for a "number one" breakfast and scrambled eggs on toast was 8 minutes. The eggs were the blandest we have ever tasted. Apart from that everything was very poor. We stood at the wait to be seated for 5 minutes with a queue forming behind and staff looking at us from both sides of the bar. We then assumed the wait here to be seated sign was for lunch and dinner, as the restaurant was half empty. We got halfway to a table before we were accosted by one of the staff that had been looking at us from the bar and told us to go back and wait to be seated. The drinks, two coffees and two orange juices took 29 minutes to come out. The food was long gone by that point. This wasn't an isolated incident that affected just us, as we heard at least 7 other tables complaining and questioning their whereabouts, and 1 having to cancel them, even though it was already paid, as they had to go and board. The two female staff that were waiting had poor customer service and just snapped back we are busy and short staff, however the gentleman was courteous and actually apologised unlike the others. Once we finally received the coffees we went to the sugar bowl, only to find used gum pressed into it. Not a good visit from start to finish and would not recommend.
Edit: after posting my partner reminded me we also were not provided with cutlery, and it took three requests, spanning about 5 minutes, to get any, and that was only achieved when my partner walked over to a different waitress at the other side of the restaurant to ask.
To be fair, the food is quite good! Love the beer sausages and the avocado jam. It’s got good atmosphere that makes you forget that you are at an airport saying goodbye to your vacation!
Always had good experiences here. Got my eggs Benedict in 5 minutes from ordering, perfectly poached, soft and runny and NOT TASTING of vinegar. Ordered through phone and staff was super helpful too in getting a physical receipt as it didn't come to my email inbox.
