Quick Facts About The White Lion Hotel

The White Lion Hotel, based on the comments provided, has a number of strengths and weaknesses. This analysis will explore these factors in order to provide a comprehensive understanding of the establishment.
Starting with the strengths, one comment highlights that the hotel is located in a great position in the town center. This suggests that it is easily accessible and convenient for guests who wish to explore the surrounding area. Another positive aspect is that the hotel is described as a traditional market town pub, which creates a nice atmosphere and offers a decent choice of drinks. Additionally, the comment praising the establishment as one of the best pubs in Clitheroe suggests that it has the potential to be a popular local spot with excellent drink options and a good atmosphere.
Moving on to the weaknesses, numerous negative comments focus on the condition of the rooms and the overall cleanliness of the hotel. One guest mentions damp walls, clutter, and a dusty room, while another comments on the misleading advertising on Airbnb, which described the hotel as a sweet place with nice rooms. These issues indicate a lack of proper maintenance and cleanliness. Moreover, the strong smell of dampness in one of the rooms despite an open window further emphasizes the need for improvements in this area.
Another significant weakness highlighted in the comments is the behavior of the staff. One comment describes a bartender exhibiting racist behavior towards a black French football player, which is not only inappropriate but also reflects a lack of professionalism and inclusivity within the establishment. Additionally, another customer mentions experiencing rudeness and unpleasantness from the barmaid, leading to a negative overall experience. Another negative experience involved rude staff members allegedly stealing customers' drinks and using force to prevent guests from reclaiming them. This kind of behavior not only demonstrates poor customer service but also raises concerns about the conduct and management of the staff.
One other weakness mentioned in a comment is the noise level outside the hotel, particularly on weekends. While it is noted that the location in the town center is convenient, it is also stated that the noise outside on a Saturday night can be excessive, comparable to a busy beach resort. This may impact guests who are seeking a quieter and more peaceful stay in the Ribble Valley area.
In conclusion, The White Lion Hotel has a number of strengths and weaknesses. While it is appreciated for its convenient location, pleasant atmosphere, and decent drink choices, it falls short in terms of cleanliness, maintenance, and the behavior of some staff members. The hotel management should address these weaknesses to improve the overall guest experience and create a more positive reputation for the establishment.

We had booked a room in a hotel. It turned out to be a pub with rooms upstairs. Unfortunately it was in awful condition with damp walls, plenty of clutter. Our room smelt of damp despite open window. It was very dusty in the room.
It was very misleading on airbnb website that it's a sweet hotel with nice rooms.
It was an unpleasant experience. Unfortunately we arrived in the afternoon, so there was no time to look for something more appropriate. The location is great in the town centre, however if you want somewhere quite and peaceful while in the Ribble Valley don't book it at the weekend as the noise outside on a Saturday night is like your in a Tenerife beach resort.
We were in to watch England v France in the World Cup. One of the bartenders (shaved head, glasses, Christmas jumper) who had finished working and was drinking in the pub shouted “f*** off back to Africa” while an image of Kylian Mbappe, a black French footballer, was on the screen. Disgusting behaviour from anybody, let alone the staff.
Sunday night. Its just gone 10.45pm I can hear Kareoke from the Swan. I get closer and I can hear "It must be love" being belted out. I enter and a lovely chap called Brian is giving it full beans on the dance floor singing his heart out. Cracking little place ????
Traditional market town pub popular with locals. Nice atmosphere decent drink choice.
Easily one of the best pubs in Clitheroe, would highly recommend. Excellent priced drinks and a very good atmosphere.
Real shame for a pub with such potential! Could be a lovely venue with good drinks but unfortunately the staff are just rude and unpleasant to the full extent! Poor gentlemen next to myself was sitting on a faulty bench which collapsed through no fault of their own and were forcibly removed for no fault. The barmaid was unpleasant, arrogant and rude. Great shame when a simple conversation was all that was needed!
Rude staff steals your drinks once you live them on the table to enjoy dancing. It happens twice last night and when my Mrs try to chase our cocktails, have been pushed away by security member. I do not recommend that place!
Popped in for a quick pint loved the place polite and friendly staff great pint to.????????
