Quick Facts About The Windmill Bar & Bistro
The Windmill Bar & Bistro has several strengths based on the comments provided. Firstly, many visitors noted the well-decorated venue and the themed cocktails, suggesting that the atmosphere and overall ambiance of the place are appealing. The friendly staff and pleasant atmosphere were also mentioned multiple times, indicating that the customer service is a strength of this establishment. Visitors felt welcomed by the staff, even if they were not regular customers or locals.
Additionally, the presence of a BBQ bucking bronco and themed cocktails adds to the uniqueness and entertainment factor of the venue. The fact that the place has plenty of parking spaces and full disability access with a lift to the bar and venue area is another strength, as it ensures convenience and accessibility for all customers.
The Windmill Bar & Bistro is also praised for its food. Many customers emphasized the great taste, presentation, and selection of hot and cold food options, particularly the carvery. The comment about having the "best carvery in Somerset and probably the West" reflects positively on the quality of the food. Visitors also appreciated the variety of offerings in the buffet, including eggs, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, hash browns, tomatoes, beans, fried bread, toast, cereals, pastries, and drinks.
Furthermore, the cleanliness of the toilets and the well-kept balcony were mentioned as positive aspects of the venue. The availability of a free pool table was also seen as a great feature by customers.
Nevertheless, some weaknesses were also highlighted. One customer experienced a negative encounter with a rude and opinionated staff member at the reception, which left a negative impression and was perceived as a lack of hospitality. While this may be an isolated incident, it is important for the management to address such instances and ensure that all staff members are trained in providing friendly and welcoming customer service.
Another customer mentioned that the carvery meat was a bit dry and the vegetables had gone over, suggesting that there might be room for improvement in terms of food quality and preparation. The comment about the roast potatoes being essentially boiled potatoes that had been quickly blasted in the oven indicates that attention to detail in the cooking process may be lacking.
In terms of the weaknesses, it is important to note that the comments provided may not necessarily represent the overall experience of every customer. It is crucial to take into account the subjective nature of individual opinions and experiences.
In conclusion, The Windmill Bar & Bistro has several strengths, including a well-decorated venue, themed cocktails, friendly staff, pleasant atmosphere, good customer service, plenty of parking spaces, full disability access, and a great selection of hot and cold food options. However, there are also some areas for improvement, such as addressing any instances of rude behavior by staff and ensuring consistent food quality and preparation. Overall, it seems like a venue worth trying, especially for those who enjoy country and western-themed events and carvery options.

Visited for their country and western weekend. Well decorated venue with a bbq bucking bronco and themed cocktails. Friendly staff and pleasant atmosphere. Enjoyed listening to the singer - Jordan - felt very welcome even though we are neither local or regulars! Definitely recommend this venue. Plenty of parking spaces and full disability access throughout with a lift to the bar and venue area.
Broke down asked if we could use bathroom and buy a drink. Was told no this is private property very rude and opinionated lady at reception! A bit of hospitality is all that is needed when someone is having a bad day
Love it here. The people, service, food and prices. Also the best carvery in Somerset and probably the West. Keep up the good work Julie and team.
My partner and I attended for a carvery. The meat looked good, however it was a little dry upon returning to our table. The veg had gone over a little, I feel this could have been solved by stirring or turning the veg more often. The real key down though was the roast potatoes. They were essentially boiled potatoes that had been quickly blasted in the oven.
Great selection of hot and cold food, fill your boots buffet. All the usual hot counter offerings. Eggs, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, hash browns, tomatoes, beans, fried bread, toast and cereals, pastries and drinks.
