Quick Facts About Halls Victorian Sweetshop and Tea Room

Halls Victorian Sweetshop and Tea Room has received a mostly positive response from its customers. The strengths of this establishment can be identified through the comments provided. Firstly, the service is repeatedly praised for being brilliant, helpful, and friendly. Customers appreciate the staff going above and beyond to cater to special occasions and events, such as closing the tea room to the public for a bridal shower and allowing the organizer to decorate in advance. The staff is commended for their communication skills and willingness to make the experience enjoyable for everyone involved. The hands-on family owners, Alicia and Karen, are specifically mentioned as being prominent figures in delivering excellent customer service. This highlights the dedication and passion of the owners in running the business.
Another strength highlighted by customers is the quality of the cakes and scones. The cakes are described as great, and the scones are praised for being gorgeous and not dry. This indicates that Halls Victorian Sweetshop and Tea Room takes pride in producing delicious baked goods. The positive feedback regarding the sandwiches also suggests a good variety of options available to customers.
Furthermore, several customers appreciate the quaint atmosphere of the tearoom. The word "quaint" implies charm, which creates a unique and pleasant ambiance for visitors. The homemade feel of the quiche and soup is also mentioned, indicating that Halls Victorian Sweetshop and Tea Room puts effort into serving homemade and quality food.
However, there are some weaknesses that can be identified from the comments. One customer expresses disappointment with the hot food, stating that it is not as good as others make it out to be. This suggests a discrepancy in taste preferences or a possible inconsistency in the quality of hot food items. Another customer complains about the smell of bleach coming from the kitchen, which negatively affected their experience. This raises concerns about cleanliness and odor control within the establishment.
Additionally, there are comments regarding the overpricing of certain items. One customer mentions a case where a deluxe hot chocolate with Maltesers and other chocolates did not meet expectations, as it was made with water instead of milk and was weakly flavored. This suggests a discrepancy between the description of the item and its actual quality. Additionally, the customer mentions that there were only bits of chocolate on the drink, further indicating a possible lack of attention to detail in the presentation of menu items.
In summary, Halls Victorian Sweetshop and Tea Room is praised for its excellent service, delicious cakes, and quaint atmosphere. The staff, particularly the owners, are commended for their friendliness and willingness to accommodate special events. However, there are some areas that need improvement, such as consistency in the quality of hot food items and attention to detail in terms of cleanliness and pricing accuracy. Overall, the positive aspects outweigh the weaknesses, as most customers highly recommend visiting the tearoom.

Afternoon Tea was booked as a surprise Mothers Day treat!! And what a treat it was!! The service was brilliant from start to finish and the food was delicious! The Scones were gorgeous and not dry! There was plenty of choice on the sandwich plate also. Highly recommend a pop in.
Start one really positive note. Great cakes. Second. The staff are really friendly. But I know a big thing is made about the hot food by people but I just don't see it as being that good. Really not worth the money. But that is my opinion and doesn't mean it's right. But I still highly recommend the cakes and they tea and coffee.
Had a fantastic bridal shower at the tea room. The staff were really helpful, before during and after our event. They closed the tea room to the public and allowed me in early to decorate. They were really helpful and friendly, keeping us informed of what was happening with our food order (afternoon tea for 20!). They took some lovely group photos of us all too. Everyone said how lovely the food was and what a lovely time they'd had. Would definitely recommend
I've been a regular diner here for over 6 mths and it just keeps getting better& better..
Many establishments have forgotten the meaning of customer service & should go to Victorian Tea Rooms to watch & learn.
The hands on famiy owners Alicia & Karen the rest of their "A Team" Alison Chantelle, Jess & Harry are very friendly & helpful, serving "Proper" Home Cooked food.

Very quaint tearoom with decent food. I had quiche of the day which tasted home made. And I liked the look of my partner's home made soup.
I really wanted to like this place and support a local business. Ordered cappuccino and toasted sandwich. Just awful in every way, left most of them. The smell of bleach from the kitchen was overpowering, food was inedible and coffee was a microwaved milky coffee. I had to leave felt sick with the smell.
Over priced for what you get... delux hot chocolate with maltesers and other chocolate which sounded delicious... how wrong was i. Was made with water and extremely week. And just bits of chocolate on it. Was not worth the money.
Great little cafe and the food and service was amazing, we will be back especially that we not from the area. The sweet shop was lovely to. The young ladies serving us were so polite.
