Quick Facts About The Wine Bar Stamford
The Wine Bar Stamford Place has several strengths based on the comments provided. Firstly, the ambience and atmosphere of the bar are highly praised. It is described as a "nice little place" that is "relaxing and civilized." The rear courtyard garden is highlighted as a real suntrap, making it a pleasant spot to enjoy a drink. The bar staff is also commended for their friendliness and attentiveness, contributing to a positive overall experience.
Another strength of The Wine Bar Stamford Place is its selection of drinks at reasonable prices. Customers appreciate the good variety of wines and cocktails available. The bar staff is knowledgeable, particularly in regards to gin, and can provide recommendations. The recent upgrade from Fever-Tree tonics to specialist "spirit enhancers" is seen as a positive improvement.
The bar’s focus on wine is seen as a strength. Customers appreciate the option to purchase premium wine by the glass rather than having to buy a whole bottle. This is particularly appealing to those who want to savor a fine wine in the afternoon. The availability of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc is specifically recommended.
Additionally, The Wine Bar Stamford Place is praised for its great venue and décor. It is described as fabulous and has a vibrant atmosphere attracting a young and energetic crowd. The bar's popularity as a local spot is evident, especially on weekends. The terrace area outside is a highlight, particularly on summer nights, although it is noted that it shuts early in the evening, likely due to noise restrictions from neighboring properties.
Despite these strengths, there are some weaknesses mentioned in the comments. One customer had a negative experience on Christmas Eve, where they were met with hostility and rudeness by a female staff member after accidentally breaking two glasses. While the manager has since apologized for the incident, this highlights a potential issue with customer service.
Another weakness mentioned is the limited lunch selection, although it is mentioned that this might be expanding. This could be seen as a drawback for customers looking for more food options. Additionally, the bar is described as more focused on gin than on wine, although it is acknowledged that the staff is knowledgeable about both.
The bar's popularity and crowded nature is another potential weakness. It is described as packed, and making your way to the toilet can be difficult due to the crowd. The energetic and noisy atmosphere is also mentioned, which may not be ideal for those seeking a quieter, more relaxed experience.
Overall, The Wine Bar Stamford Place has several strengths, including its pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff, reasonable prices, and good drink selection. However, there are some weaknesses to consider, such as potential issues with customer service, limited food options, and a crowded and noisy environment.

What a nice little place this is. Wife and I went in for an afternoon wine and we sat out in the rear courtyard garden which is a real suntrap.
So relaxing and civilized, we had a really enjoyable hour and a half.
Good selection of drinks at reasonable prices.
Will go again
Loved it , was quite busy and bar staff and everyone friendly. We sat inside first but then went outside which was very comfortable. The wine we had was very good.
We come here all the time so decided to book a table on Christmas Eve. Unfortunately it was not the experience we hoped for. We spent over £1000+ as a party of 10 but over the course of the evening (5 hours) we broke two glasses accidentally, one being brushed by a long coat as we were getting ready to leave. Following this we were met with hostility and rudeness by the female staff member behind the bar. The staff member muttered under her breath as we getting ready to leave, well in ear shot of the whole group. Considering we are regular customers we would hope that our custom is more valuable than two glasses.
Edit* The manager has since been in touch to apologise about the service received.
Lovely but limited lunch selection, but being expanded I think. Sat outside under cover of umbrellas in stormy weather. Highly recommend the New Zealand S.Blanc as recommended by the ever so lovely 'Jazz', herself a N.Zealander!
Calls itself a wine bar to sound posher than it is, yet probably has more gin in stock... Staff more knowledgeable on the latter! Busy on a weekend, popular local spot, great terrace area outside especially on summer nights but this shuts early in the evening I’m assuming due to neighbouring properties and noise.
Lovely little place with great and knowledgeable bar staff. Only one lager but thats not what you're going in there for as the wine and gin selection is epic. Recently upgraded from fever tree tonics to specialist 'spirit enhancers' which make it even better. Also now do premium wine by the glass rather than having to but a whole bottle (some super technical gadgetry involved) which is perfect for those that just want to savour a fine wine in the afternoon. Can't fault it, definitely one to visit.
Fabulous holiday in Stamford. Great venue with nice staff.
Great cocktails, awesome decor, but packed. Very difficult to make your way to the toilet. Vibrant, young, energetic crowd means this place can be a bit noisy.
