Quick Facts About The Frying Machine

The Frying Machine place has received a mix of negative and positive comments from customers. In order to understand the strengths and weaknesses of the place, let's analyze the comments in detail.
One of the main weaknesses pointed out by multiple customers is the change in management. Some customers mention that the previous owner ran a great fish shop, but since the new management took over, the quality has declined. This change seems to have affected various aspects of the experience, including portion sizes, packaging, and taste.
Commenters complain that the portion sizes are now smaller compared to what they used to be. The fish and chips no longer come in the old-fashioned paper, but instead are served in small cardboard boxes. This change in packaging has caused the boxes to become soggy and fray away under the food. Customers are disappointed with this alteration as it affects the overall presentation and enjoyment of the food.
The taste of the chips is not up to the standards of a traditional chip shop, according to some customers. They describe the chips as hard on the outside and soggy on the inside due to sitting in oil from the cardboard box. One commenter even compares them to "fried oven chips," which suggests that they lack the authentic flavor and texture of chip shop chips.
The quality of the fish is also criticized, with customers stating that the cod pieces are tiny and have a strong fishy taste. One customer even threw away their cod before eating it due to the overpowering flavor. The sausage is described as dark brown and having hard batter, which indicates that it may have been kept in the heaters for too long. These issues contribute to a disappointing dining experience, especially considering the high prices charged by the restaurant.
Some customers have had particularly negative experiences. One commenter mentions being charged £2 for a burnt sausage that they immediately threw away after just one bite. Another customer compares the food to frozen products from a supermarket, suggesting a lack of freshness and quality. These comments highlight the inconsistency and poor quality control at The Frying Machine place.
On the other hand, there are a few positive comments about the place as well. One customer mentions that the chips tasted good, with a crispy exterior and fluffy interior. Another customer praises the cod and mentions friendly service. However, even these positive comments are overshadowed by the negative experiences shared by other customers.
In summary, The Frying Machine place has several weaknesses based on the comments provided. These include a decline in portion sizes, a change in packaging resulting in soggy food, chips that do not meet chip shop standards, small and fishy-tasting cod pieces, and overpriced and burnt sausages. The change in management seems to have resulted in a decline in overall quality and customer satisfaction. However, there are a few positive comments about the crispy chips and friendly service.

Avoid this place at all costs! Used to be the best fish shop around when owned by the previous owner but now it’s under new management…served in cardboard boxes so small portion sizes unlike the old fashioned paper that The Frying Machine used to use, chips were hard on the outside and soggy due to them sitting in oil from the box and just tasted like fried oven chips, not a proper chip shop chip, the pieces of cod were tiny and tasted so strongly of fish that my partner binned his before even sitting down to eat and the sausage was a dark brown colour with batter that was so hard it had obviously been sat in the heaters for a while! Not what you would expect from how expensive it was! We ended up binning the lot and ordering a McDonalds instead because of how disgusting it was…should never have been able to take over what was once a great fish shop!
Whoever runs it now needs to take a note out of the old managements book. Small portion sizes and overpriced!! Served in cardboard trays with no Greece proof paper causing the cardboard to get soggy and frey away under your food. Not great flavour either didn’t taste like chip shop chips. However the battered sausage was nice.
These have been taken over! I went in tonite and asked for one sausage and was charged £2 for one little sausage and it was absolutely vile burnt and one bite and I slung it straight out!! Never ever again even if I was starvin would I go here again!!!
Fish and chips both seemed as though they were straight out of the iceland freezer section. Only thing they have going for them is that they were delivered 20 minutes before deliveroo said they would be (would have been 0 stars if not foe this). Will definitely not be going back!
not a patch on last owners. overpriced in cardboard boxes.
small portions.
Only had chips but they tasted good crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.
Lovely fish and chips, I only go there Saturday night as the food is so much better then.
Two lovely friendly ladies there , always cheerful, polite and professional.
Well done ladies
Lovely Cod! Friendly service and freshly fried. However, once I had arrived at home, I was horrified to see that a large fish was missing. Unfortunately, I had to share the fish and was subsequently not satisfied.
