Quick Facts About Trading Post Café
Overall, it seems that the Trading Post Café has received mostly positive comments about its food and service. The strengths of the café can be summarized as follows:
1. Excellent dishes: Many reviewers mentioned that the food at Trading Post Café is delicious and well-prepared. Dishes like the Carpaccio, Angel hair with mushrooms and gorganzola sauce, and chicken vesuvio received high praise for their flavors and quality. The saffron rice and broccoli tomato side were also noted as standout accompaniments to the dishes.
2. Fair pricing: Several comments mentioned that the prices at Trading Post Café were a pleasant surprise. The café offers good value for the quality of the food served, making it an attractive option for diners looking for affordable yet delicious meals.
3. Friendly and attentive service: The staff at Trading Post Café were described as friendly and attentive. The servers checked on their tables frequently and provided good recommendations and explanations of the menu. The exceptional service during a rehearsal dinner was also noted.
4. Ambience and charm: Many reviewers appreciated the ambience and charm of Trading Post Café. The outside patio was particularly praised for its calming and relaxed atmosphere, making it a great place to enjoy a meal and a glass of wine. The café was also described as a hidden gem, tucked away in a plaza, and the outward appearance did not reflect the quality of the interior and the menu.
However, there were a few weaknesses mentioned in the comments:
1. Limited options: One reviewer expressed disappointment over the lack of basic options like chicken Parmesan. While the Italian options at Trading Post Café were praised, some customers may prefer a wider variety of choices, including more traditional Italian dishes.
2. Inconsistent pizza: A couple of negative comments focused on the pizza at Trading Post Café. One reviewer described it as one of the worst they had ever tasted, with a crust that resembled wet cardboard. The inconsistency of the pizza quality may be a weakness for customers looking for a reliable and tasty pizza option.
In conclusion, the Trading Post Café appears to be a highly recommended restaurant with its strengths lying in its delicious dishes, fair pricing, friendly service, and charming ambience. However, there may be room for improvement in terms of expanding the menu options and ensuring consistency in the quality of the pizza.
Best TL Reviews
Rarely is a five star given because rarely are they found. This rating is SOLELY on the dishes tried, not atmosphere or service. Carpaccio is perfect! Spot on and by adding to the sourdough bread dipped in a wee bit of evoo and balsamic, your taste buds are gonna be in love. Angel hair with mushrooms and gorganzola sauce is rich with a deep woodsy element and chicken that could not be prepared any better. Piccata is not the usual, but be prepared to be happy! Saffron rice that would be found with authentic paella accompanies this dish, chicken is absolute perfection, crisp and lightly breaded and melt in your mouth tender, broccoli, tomato side will remind you of travels to remote southern Italy.
Prices are a very nice surprise, and add to the positives of Trading Post Café. Make no assumptions of the meal you're going to experience by the atmosphere or service, which is genuine and tries. Not being in the 'tourist' part of Taos, Trading Post Café looks to be a local fav, which the locals most likely love it that way! This restaurant is a MUST try for flavors, textures and a meal you'll want again. Hands down the best meal this reviewer has experienced in New Mexico, no exceptions!
Great restaurant in Taos. The staff were friendly and checked on the table often. The outside patio was so calming. The food was delicious. A great dining experience.
Fantastic little jewel with a lot of ambience and charm. Food was delicious and very fairly priced (lunch menu). Definitely recommend as a stop! Service could be a little more attentive but overall good & friendly service.
A top favorite to eat in Taos. Food is amazing and they have excellent service. Itallian at its finest.
I held my rehearsal dinner here two weeks ago. They gave us a private room and so much attention. The server Sarah was truly exceptional.
We had a menu with four choices for the party and everyone loved what they got. I highly recommend the chicken vesuvio. The carrot cake and fresh whipped cream with berries that they included for dessert was outstanding.
The food was absolutely delicious and the service was even better! I definitely recommend you try this little hidden gem if you're in Taos. We went at lunch time and the outdoor patio was the perfect place to relax and enjoy a glass of wine. It was the best meal we had while we were in town.
Amazing real Italian options. (But no chicken parm!!!!!!!very disappointing!!!)
One thing they need to add these less extravagant options for people that go for the basics.
Waitress was extremely knowledgeable, walked me through entire restaurant and explained entire Menu , need to get her name for her great service.
Homemade Pizza right in front of you at the bar!.
They have brunch buffet on Sunday 10-2. Very extravagant menu at a decent price for the quality.
Very pleased with my order. Smaller sized Pizza but fresh made in front of you in a brick oven so you pay for quality.
Great place.
Too bad it's hidden on the side of the road in a Plaza, the outside understates the quality of the inside and the menu.
How can an Italian restaurant not have good pizza? I shared one of the worst ever with my daughter the other day. The crust tasted like and had the texture of wet cardboard. Worse yet, we saw them make the dough. Other than that the place is somewhat charming with a friendly staff. The minestrone soup was pretty good.
