Quick Facts About York Road Fish Shop

York Road Fish Shop has a mix of positive and negative comments that provide insight into its strengths and weaknesses. In order to analyze these, we will focus on three main aspects: staff, food quality, and overall ambiance.
One of the main strengths highlighted in the comments is the friendly and helpful staff. Multiple customers mention the staff's positive attitude and willingness to assist. This is a significant advantage, as it enhances the overall customer experience and creates a welcoming atmosphere.
Another strength of York Road Fish Shop is the reasonable price and good-sized portions. Affordable prices are always appreciated by customers, and combined with generous portions, they provide excellent value for money. This is particularly important for a fish and chips shop, as customers often expect hearty portions.
On the other hand, there are several weaknesses mentioned by customers. The first is regarding the food quality. While some customers praise the taste and quality of the fish, others express disappointment. Issues with the chips being undercooked and not up to previous standards are mentioned in multiple comments. Consistency in food quality is crucial for maintaining customer satisfaction, and any decline in this area can lead to disappointment and loss of customer loyalty.
The cleanliness of the shop is also a weakness pointed out by some customers. One customer specifically mentions a dirty floor and grubby counter and perspex screen, which may deter potential customers from visiting the shop. Hygiene is of utmost importance in the food industry, and any signs of uncleanliness can be off-putting to customers.
The efficiency and organization of the staff is another area of improvement. One customer mentions the confusion caused by the lack of an obvious queueing system, leading to an uncomfortable wait. Additionally, a staff member being overwhelmed with multiple tasks, including taking orders, serving customers, and answering the phone, can result in delays and inefficiency. Hiring additional staff or assigning specific roles can help alleviate these issues and improve overall service.
Despite the weaknesses mentioned, there are still positive comments that highlight the strengths of York Road Fish Shop. Customers who have had satisfactory experiences praise the food quality, friendly staff, and reasonable prices. This indicates that there are instances where the shop delivers on its strengths and provides a pleasant experience for customers.
In conclusion, York Road Fish Shop has strengths in its friendly and helpful staff, as well as reasonable prices and good-sized portions. However, there are also weaknesses in areas such as food quality and cleanliness, as well as the efficiency and organization of the staff. By addressing these weaknesses, the shop can strive to provide consistently high-quality food, maintain cleanliness standards, and improve overall customer satisfaction.

Best TL Reviews

Friendly helpful staff. The best I have found in the area. Reasonable price and good sized portions.
Used this fish and chips shop for years always had a good meal, last few visits the staff & food have been a let down. Portions are quite small and chips not cooked very good, and the place looks grubby, the floor on the customer side was filthy cant says its been cleaned recently counter and perspex screen was also grubby and greasy looking, puts people off. Disappointed to say the least as its on the door step.
The fish is always lovely and tasty . Often busy with small car park at front
Went back here on Friday (10/06/22) as heard the chips had improved. Still not as good as they used to be under Dennis but now the prices have went up and the portion size is way smaller.
What's going on with the chips? Have used this chippy for years as the chips were the best in the area. Crispy outside fluffy inside, now they are more like the rubbish that Leybourne serve. Last 2 times they have been a disappointment, also the girl serving was trying to do too much at once, taking order as people came in, serving the orders that were ready but also having to stop and answer the phone for orders too, meaning she was having to keep asking what people wanted. Might just be that she as new, but have somebody else take phone orders would help.
Excellent chippy. I usually order every Friday for work (Fat Friday), really friendly staff and happy to write weird names on each order for staff members (Alien - lad has a massive head, Caterpillar - takes ages to eat food etc). Food is always superb, fish bite special is a must have! Seriously, one of the best chip shops I've ever frequented. Staff are lovely, credit to the shop.
Lovely fish and chip shop. Can't fault it!
Horrendous experience. I have no idea about the quality of the food as, after a long queue on Friday evening, I was totally blanked by the woman serving and decided to leave. There is no obvious queueing system in place, making it confusing for new customers and an uncomfortable wait. On top of that, the woman serving was shouting loudly from behind her screen to customers while holding open portions of food very close to her mouth. Disgusting.
Food was good and pretty reasonably priced as well, nice and freshly cooked and portions were excellent ????. Editing the review as I rushed it before ????. Definitely going back again
