Quick Facts About 48th Street Barber Shop
48th Street Barber Shop has received a mix of positive and negative reviews, and it is important to consider these comments when assessing the strengths and weaknesses of the establishment.
Starting with the strengths, multiple customers have praised the excellent haircuts they received at this barber shop. Customers appreciate the skill of the barbers and the fact that they have had consistently good experiences. It is worth noting that one customer even mentions witnessing other happy customers, indicating that good haircuts are not isolated incidents but rather a common occurrence at 48th Street Barber Shop.
The ambiance of the barber shop is another strength. Customers appreciate the character of the establishment and enjoy the presence of classic Frank Sinatra music. This creates a pleasant and nostalgic atmosphere, which contributes to a positive overall experience for clients.
Fair prices are also mentioned as a strength of 48th Street Barber Shop. One customer specifically states that the prices are reasonable, which is an important consideration for many clients when choosing a barber.
Now, moving on to the weaknesses, it becomes evident that there have been some instances of poor customer service and communication at 48th Street Barber Shop. One customer reported feeling pressured into getting a beard shave despite clearly expressing their preference against it. Another customer complained about the barbers not being friendly and not having basic communication etiquette, such as saying hello or thank you. This suggests a lack of professionalism and customer-oriented service.
There have also been complaints regarding the quality of some haircuts. One customer expressed disappointment in the hasty and sloppy job done on their child's haircut, which is evident in the attached pictures. The customer also mentions that an incomplete job was done, leaving hair on the child's neck, ears, and forehead. Furthermore, the stylist did not style the child's hair as expected, only spraying a little water and combing it to the side to hide the uneven length. This highlights a lack of attention to detail and a failure to meet the customer's expectations.
Inconsistencies in service are another weakness mentioned in the comments. One customer had a positive experience on their first visit but had a completely negative experience on their second visit. These inconsistencies suggest a lack of quality control and could indicate a problem with staff training and consistency in service standards.
Lastly, some customers have reported issues with pricing. One customer states that they were overcharged compared to the posted price for a haircut, which is disappointing and raises questions about transparency and fairness in pricing.
In conclusion, 48th Street Barber Shop has strengths in terms of the quality of haircuts and the ambiance of the establishment. Customers appreciate the skill of the barbers, the reasonable prices, and the classic atmosphere created by the Frank Sinatra music. However, there are weaknesses in terms of customer service, inconsistencies in service quality, and occasional issues with pricing. These weaknesses need to be addressed in order for the barber shop to improve and provide a consistently positive experience for all customers.

Came in 2x so far to this barber. Great haircut. Did not get cut like all the other people complaining and giving 1 star lol.
This place is fantastic! I have been getting my haircut here for at least a year if not more. Because I like to get my head shaved, I go here once a week and I have never had a bad experience. I also witness a lot of happy customers as well. I also notice a lot of repeat customers. People enjoy them because they have great character and play wonderful Frank Sinatra music. Keep up the good work!
Barber tried to pressure me into a beard shave. Told him no like 3 times. Said I wanted only an inch off top. Even said "you like it long on top?" I said yes. Proceeded to chop off 90% of my hair. Like ???
First time here, after my old barber of 10 years sold his place I needed a new go to. Guy here is awesome, listened well and did a fantastic job. Prices are fair as well. This is now my new go to place!
honestly I think the pictures kind of speak for themselves. I chose to give just two stars because the only pleasant part of this experience was at the end after we paid the gentleman gave my son a lollipop which put a big smile on his face. As you could see from the pictures not only did he do a hasty sloppy job on my child's haircut but he also left some marks on the back of my sons neck because of the fact that he was so hasty. They also weren't very friendly (no smiles no hello or thank yous) I don't think I would've minded that as much had he done a better job, but.... my biggest regret is giving the man a tip on top of the 20$ he charge me even though their sign stated that a child's haircut is only 17$ Because he didn't clean off all the hair that he left on my child's neck ears and forehead I had to request a paper towel to do it myself in front of him and he didn't even style my kids hair(I've never gone to a barber before that doesnt style your hair when they're done cutting)all he did was spray my sons hair with a little bit of water and comb it to the side so that the uneven length wasn't noticeable until later that day...shame on this barbershop for doin a lil boy like this...smh
Went here for the first time today. This place is awesome! Kind of old-school and super classy. They had Frank Sinatra playing in the background, pretty cool. Vlad cut my hair today, he was GREAT! He cut my hair perfectly as if he had already been my barber for years, but this was our first meeting.
I will definitely be back, I highly recommend this place and am making this my bi-weekly go-to spot for a haircut.
I was asked if I’d like my beard done, I said no. After my haircut, he plowed into my beard before I could react, I was shocked. He acted offended when I was upset he cut most of my beard off after I said no, claiming it looked better. Don’t go here, never in my life had such a ridiculous thing happened at a barber.
The first time I went here was excellent. No complaints. However, the second time I came was not great at all. First, I showed up on Saturday at the posted open time but no one was there. I came in the next day and my hair was cut by a gentleman who was incredibly rough with the clippers; last I checked, hair clippers aren't supposed to hurt as they run through your hair, but here we are. I have several areas on my skin where my skin was nicked by the straight razor as he cleaned up the edges and had some razor burn on my neck. He did shave a line for a part into my head, but when I got home I realized this line wasn't the cleanest. It's hard to tell from a distance, but the fact that I can see it means he definitely could have too. On top of all of this, he did not give me a hot towel finish (which is supposed to come with a hair cut service) AND charged me $20 instead of the posted $18 for a haircut. Won't be returning.
