One of the strengths of Afghan Kitchen is the quality and taste of the food. Many customers praised the deliciousness of the dishes, with specific recommendations for the lamb with potatoes, fish curry, and dal. The food is also described as affordable, providing good value for money. In addition, there are vegetarian options available, catering to different dietary preferences.
The restaurant's atmosphere is another strength mentioned by customers. It is described as having a warm and homely feel, which contributes to a pleasant dining experience. The small size of the restaurant adds to its intimate setting, making it suitable for those seeking a cozy and personal atmosphere.
The service at Afghan Kitchen is generally commendable. Customers highlight the friendliness and kindness of the staff, creating a welcoming and enjoyable experience. The waitstaff is described as attentive, providing excellent service to ensure customers are satisfied.
Another strength is the location of the restaurant. It is mentioned that Afghan Kitchen is located in the London Islington area, which is recommended as a great place to visit. This can attract customers who are looking to explore the area and try new cuisines.
Despite these strengths, there are a few weaknesses that should be taken into consideration. Firstly, the restaurant only accepts cash payments. This may inconvenience customers who prefer to pay by card, especially if they were not informed prior to their visit. Furthermore, the small size of the restaurant can be seen as a weakness by some, as it may limit the number of customers that can be accommodated at a time. Booking in advance is recommended to secure a table.

Some customers mention that they have had better Afghan food in other parts of London, suggesting that Afghan Kitchen may not have the best representation of the cuisine. Additionally, one customer mentions that the baklava served at Afghan Kitchen is average, indicating that the dessert may not meet everyone's expectations.
Overall, Afghan Kitchen seems to have strengths in terms of the quality and affordability of its food, as well as its warm atmosphere and friendly service. Sehr gutes libanesisches Restaurant.
Food was delicious, the restaurant is simple but has a warm atmosphere. The restaurant is small so make sure you book in advance. We order too much food at the end as it was so hard to make a decision ???? but everything was at the end super tasty... Really pleased! I'll be back.
Just a note, they only take cash.
Booked for a Thursday evening around 8pm. Very small place but love the intimate setting and small menu.
Service- wonderful and so friendly, very happy with the overall experience.
Food- so affordable and yummy! The definitely recommend the lamb with potatos and the fish curry.
Thank you for lovely dining experience
Highly recommended. Small menu that’s vegan friendly. We had the dall and fish curry which were amazing and went well with bread.
The only reason why I’m giving it four star is because it’s a CASH ONLY place but there was no mention of it when I made my reservation.
Lovely little homely place in Angel serving home cooked Afghan cuisine. The menu is short - which is exactly how I like it. We ordered virtually everything off the menu. Such as Chicken in Yoghurt sauce, lamb with spinach, pumpkin, bread etc. But the standout dish for me was the Fish Stew. Really delicious. Only downsides is that the place is really tiny, and the baklava is average. But for what you pay, this place is outstanding value for money. Would highly recommend.
Finally made it to the Afghan Kitchen.
This was the lamb with potatoes & pickles.
Overall very tasty with a decent amount of lamb, slightly a fraction too salty.
Not bad for Islington considering Upper Street has some very average eateries. Islington prices.
The waitress was friendly, the server behind the counter a little bit sour.
I’ve had better Afghan food in other parts of London.
Bear in mind the’ll add a service charge.
Really delicious and affordable in a lovely space. Good vegetarian options available and kind service.
I personally recommend the Baghlava! Perfect way to end a meal
