Quick Facts About Antrim Lough Shore Play Park
The Antrim Lough Shore Play Park has many strengths that make it an excellent destination for families and visitors. One of the main strengths is its inclusivity, with a wealth of wheelchair accessible equipment and sensory play items. This allows children of all abilities to fully enjoy their time at the park.
The design of the playground is also highly praised, with a great theme featuring a big ship and tower. There are plenty of swings, spinners, and other equipment that cater to older kids as well. This ensures that there is something for everyone and keeps children entertained for hours.
Additionally, the park has great on-site facilities including a café, toilets, and a washing block. This makes it convenient for families to spend a full day at the park without having to leave for meals or other necessities. The nearby caravan park is also a bonus for those looking to stay overnight or extend their visit.
Furthermore, the location of the park adds to its appeal. Visitors can enjoy a lovely walk along the river and lough, as well as explore the Antrim Castle Gardens. The scenic views and atmosphere make the experience even more enjoyable for both children and adults.
For parents, the park is ideal as it offers a combination of activities for children, such as the play park and lovely walks, with facilities for adults, including coffee and ice cream options. This makes it a great spot for families to spend quality time together and create lasting memories.
However, there are also some weaknesses that have been mentioned by visitors. One common complaint is that the park can get overcrowded at times. This can make it difficult to fully enjoy the facilities and create a less pleasant experience, especially for those looking for quieter and more intimate settings.
Another concern raised is the lack of adherence to social distancing measures. Visitors have noted that during their visit, there were gatherings and meetings organized by different groups, such as a greyhound rehoming event. This raises concerns about the park's management and their commitment to ensuring the safety of visitors, especially during times of public health crises.
While the park is generally well-maintained, there have been some mixed reviews about the maintenance of the toilets on-site. Some visitors have found them to be clean and well-kept, while others have experienced issues with cleanliness and maintenance. This inconsistency can be off-putting for visitors, as access to clean and functional facilities is crucial for their comfort.
Overall, the Antrim Lough Shore Play Park has many strengths that make it an attractive destination for families and visitors. Its inclusive playground design, range of facilities, beautiful location, and family-friendly atmosphere all contribute to its appeal. However, concerns about overcrowding, adherence to social distancing measures, and inconsistent maintenance of some facilities should be taken into consideration for an improved visitor experience.

Hardly any distancing here. On our visit a greyhound rehoming had organised a meeting, hard to believe this simply was allowed to go ahead. Dogwalkers everywhere all chatting and standing together.
Spacious play park. Well maintained. Disabled friendly. There's toilets in the main building very close by.
Lovely walk along through the gardens over the bridge and along the river bank to the Lough shore marina. Very refreshing.
