Quick Facts About Bar and Co
Bar and Co is a Portuguese bar and eatery located in Camden Town, London. It is praised for its affordable prices, tasty food, and friendly atmosphere. However, there are also a few negative comments regarding the service and potential dishonesty of the staff.
One of the strengths of Bar and Co is its affordable pricing. One customer mentions that they had a lunch set menu for just £15, which included soup, a main dish, a drink, dessert, and an espresso. They commented that all the items were tasty, indicating that the quality of the food is also a strength of this establishment. The chicken soup is specifically mentioned as flavorful and cozy, while the main dish of the day (cuttlefish) is praised for being fresh, well-presented, and yummy. Additionally, the dessert (custard pudding with cream) is described as a hit with one customer's boyfriend.
Another strength of Bar and Co is its ability to transport customers to Portugal. One comment states that the food makes you feel like you are away in Portugal, providing an authentic experience. This is further reinforced by another comment that mentions Bar and Co has one of the best Francesinha (a traditional Portuguese sandwich) in London. This authentic Portuguese experience is likely a draw for customers who want to try something different in their dining experiences.
The location of Bar and Co is also considered a strength. It is mentioned that the bar is only a 5-7 minute walk from either Morning Crescent or Camden Town Tube stations. This accessibility is convenient for customers who are looking for a place to eat in the area.
The friendly and informal service is another strength of Bar and Co. One customer comments that it feels like eating at someone's house, which creates a welcoming atmosphere. Another customer mentions that the staff are fantastic, contributing to the enjoyable dining experience.
However, there are also a few weaknesses mentioned in the comments. One customer recounts a negative experience where they believe they were overcharged. They mention that the price on the menu board was £4, but they were charged £5.2 for the same item. The staff member explained that they couldn't find the original item in the cash register, so they chose another item at the same price. The customer felt cheated and described the incident as dishonest. This customer expresses their dissatisfaction and states that they will never go to Bar and Co again or recommend it to others.
The final weakness mentioned is the potential for higher prices compared to the level of food quality. One customer describes the food as authentic and tasty, but also mentions that it may be a little pricey for what is offered.
In conclusion, Bar and Co receives positive feedback for its affordable pricing, tasty food, and friendly atmosphere. It is praised for providing an authentic Portuguese dining experience and for its convenient location. However, there are also negative comments regarding potential dishonesty from the staff and the perceived discrepancy between the prices and the level of food quality. These weaknesses should be addressed by the management to ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty.

I had a lunch set menu including soup + main dish + a drink + dessert + an expresso on sunday all just for £15. All were really tasty. The chicken soup was flavourful and cozy. The main dish of that day was cuttlefish, it tasted very fresh, had a lovely presentation and yummy. The dessert was some kind of custard pudding with cream, my boyfriend completely loved it.
Would recommend if you want to try some nice Portuguese food for an affordable price ☺️
So delicious! You will feel like you are away in Portugal here, great quality food! This is my new favourite!
Only 5-7 minutes walking distance from either Morning Crescent or Candem Town Tube stations, they have one of the best Francesinha I have ever eaten in London.
Food is tasty, portions are decent size, price is cheap and service is friendly and informal. Feels like eating at someone's house. Will be coming back for sure next time we are in Candem Town.

DISHONESTY
Took my parents there when they visited me as the shop next door was not open. The food was ok but dry. However, the lady who worked/owned there charged £5.2 for one of the dishes when it said £4 on the wall. When questioned, she said she could not find the item we ordered in her cash register and she chose another one at the same price in it. I pointed out that it said £4 on the board but the lady insisted that the price on there was wrong. She thought we were just tourists and she could fool me like this. I gave up and left.
A difference of £1.2 is not a big deal but dishonesty is a huge matter. I will never take or recommend anyone to go there.
Authentic Portuguese no frills bar and eatery. Legit as u like. Local as anything. Fresh prawns authentic eats, perhaps a little pricey for the level, but I felt like I walked off the back streets of Porto for a brief scruffy moment in Camden and that's what I wanted. So me like.
