Quick Facts About Barkby Beach

Barkby Beach has several strengths that make it an attractive destination for visitors. One major strength is its dog-friendly policy, allowing dogs on the beach year-round. This is a significant advantage for dog owners who can enjoy leisurely walks on the sand or the walkway without any restrictions. Additionally, there are green fields nearby that provide ample space for walking and playing with dogs, further enhancing the appeal of the beach for dog owners.
Another strength of Barkby Beach is the availability of multiple parking locations along the coast. Visitors can choose from several car parks, including the free car park next to the beach. This convenience makes it easy for people to access the beach and enjoy its amenities without having to worry about parking. Furthermore, the car park near the beach also offers free toilets, which is a bonus for visitors who may need restroom facilities during their time at the beach.
The beach itself is described as lovely, clean, and sandy. It is well-maintained and monitored by lifeguards, ensuring the safety of visitors. The flat terrain of the beach also makes it easy to walk on, providing a pleasant experience for walkers and strollers. Additionally, the beach offers opportunities for various activities, such as fishing, paddleboarding, and even enjoying ice cream from the ice cream van on-site. These recreational options add to the appeal of Barkby Beach as a place to relax and have fun.
Barkby Beach benefits from its proximity to amenities and facilities. Along the promenade, there are several cafes, an ice cream parlor, a pub/restaurant, and a park. These establishments provide options for food and refreshments, allowing visitors to take a break and enjoy a meal or snack. Additionally, the cafe on the promenade serves Costa coffee, which may appeal to coffee lovers. The park on the promenade also offers an alternative space for leisure activities or relaxation, enhancing the overall experience of visiting Barkby Beach.
Despite its strengths, Barkby Beach also has some weaknesses that may be worth considering. One weakness highlighted in the comments is the presence of rocks that visitors have to navigate to access the beach. This can be cumbersome and potentially challenging, especially for those with mobility issues or families with young children. However, there is one access point without rocks, although it requires going up to a second car park and descending steps to reach the beach.
Another weakness noted is the limited availability of public toilets. While there are toilets in some areas, they may not be easily accessible from certain parts of the beach, necessitating a longer walk to find restroom facilities. Additionally, some commenters mentioned that the toilets were not the best, indicating a potential need for improved maintenance and cleanliness.
Furthermore, the beach's popularity and facilities may vary depending on the season. Some of the amenities, such as the cafe and other amusements, seem to be open only during the holiday season, which may limit options for visitors outside of that time. Additionally, inclement weather can affect the number of people visiting the beach, as mentioned in one of the comments about a windy day with fewer people around. While this may provide a quieter experience for some, it could be a drawback for those seeking a livelier atmosphere.
In conclusion, Barkby Beach offers several strengths, including its dog-friendly policy, convenient parking options, clean and well-maintained facilities, and proximity to amenities. These factors contribute to making the beach an attractive destination for dog owners, families, and individuals who enjoy walking, fishing, or simply relaxing by the sea. However, some weaknesses, such as the presence of rocks, limited toilet availability, and seasonal variations in amenities, should be considered by visitors when planning their trips to Barkby Beach.

Best TL Reviews

This is my fave place to walk the dog. I tend to go during the week as it's quieter. I usually use the public car park opposite Pontins as there are toilets there. Off the car park is a decent field area that's nice to walk around, particularly in the spring, and just enjoy the fresh air and the views. Once you reach the end of the field there are stairs that lead up to the dunes. From there you can access the beach although you will have to make your way over rocks to get there. If you stay up and turn right there is a boardwalk that leads to a sandy path along the dunes. It stretches for a good few miles, perfect for dogs. If you pass the first car park you go up to a second one and are pretty much right on the beach. This is the only access point without rocks, though there are steps down to the beach. You can walk along the Promenade to your left, again this stretches for miles. Along this way you will come to a cafe and other amusements which are open during holiday season. I think the cafe is open year round and serves Costa coffee. A little further on is another car park. All of the car parks are pay and display. The beaches have dog restrictions May-Oct though Barkby beach is OK for dogs year round.
We fished two high tides and a low tide. Dig bait aswell. Only one bite but had a great time. Car park is 4.50 for the day. Free after 5pm
Lovely beach where you can walk on the sand or the walkway all the way to Rhyl. Couple of public toilets on the way if you need. Dogs allowed on the beach by the looks of it.
Couple of cafes on the way too.
Lovely sandy beach thats nice and clean, lifeguard monitored. Dog friendly too. Parking in several locations along the cost coins or mobile buy. £4.50 all day. Ice cream van on site. Toilet block on the car park. Short walk along the promenade there is a park, cafe, ice cream parlour, pub/restaurants all with toilets.
A very windy day, so not many people about. Its a lovely long soft beach. I went to the part where dogs are allowed, which is quite a long walk from where the main facilities are. Best parking for the fogs beach is at the sailing club
Lovely sandy beach ⛱️
- dog friendly all year round - green field near by, perfect for a walk with the dog
Local car park right next to the beach and free of charge toilets.
Great beach nice and flat so easy to walk on.
Nice and clean looking forward to paddle boarding there in the summer.
Car park close by and toilets(not the best but not the worst either)
Traditional and clean. Sand and sea. Sun not guaranteed. Places to grab a bite, grab a pint and nip to the loo. Something hypnotic about the distant sea fields of wind turbines too. Chill.
