Buyer Beware - Bait and Switch:
I was looking for a place to get highlights in my hair. There is a salon close to my home. When I stopped in on a Wednesday afternoon, I was told partial highlights would be 95.00 and I made an appointment for that Saturday.
When I got home I told my husband I had made an appointment. He asked if it was Bishop’s Salon. He mentioned our neighbor went there and liked the salon. I called Bishop’s and asked how much the cost was to do partial highlights. The woman I spoke with said highlights done by the associate would be $90, or an appointment with the owner would be 140.00 because of her experience. I made an appointment with the associate and I then canceled the first appointment I made with the first Salon.
I arrived for my appointment at Bishop’s at 9 and Zaynab took me back right away. She did a nice job and the highlights looked good.
As I was checking out, a woman named Frederica, said the total was $150.00. I let her know that when I booked the appointment they quoted me $90.00 with Zaynab or $140.00 with the owner, Mitzi. Frederica told me $90.00 was for color, not partial highlights (although I specifically requested partial highlights when I called to ask the price). I paid it since the work was done and there was no price list in the shop to refer to, only my telephone conversation.
When I got home I told my husband about the change it price, we decided to go back and speak with the owner. The girl that checked me out was at the counter and I asked her to explain the $60 price difference again to the two of us. She said it was for color, not highlights. I asked to speak to the owner. When Mitzi came to the counter, I explained that I was quoted $90.00 and that I canceled the appointment with the other Salon because the prices quoted were close. She said: “No one at Bishop’s would have said that.” and asked “Don’t you I think that $140 was a fair price?” I told her she could charge whatever she wanted, but I was quoted $90.00. Mitzi said, “I don’t believe you.”
At that point we left the salon, there would have been no point in further discussion since she essentially called me a liar.
If they would have quoted me 140.00 for the partial highlights, I would have just kept the appointment at the first salon. Zaynab did a fine job with the highlights of my hair. My complaints are with the price charged vs what i was quoted and secondly the rude way I was treated when discussing the situation with the owner.
THEY ARE THE BEST! I have gone to several different salons and none compare. I have had multiple services over the years done at Bishops and EVERY time I am highly satisfied.
If I could rate Bishop’s 100 stars, I would. I got a HORRIFIC haircut at another salon. I called Bishop’s on a Saturday afternoon and they squeezed me in within a couple of hours. The owner personally fixed my hair and did an absolute PHENOMENAL job! I will never go anywhere other than Bishop’s. THANK YOU!
First time getting my hair cut here yesterday but I was incredibly impressed. They are so very welcoming and kind. The owner saw me sitting there and went out of her way to introduce herself. My hair stylist Zaynab was incredibly sweet and kind and did an amazing job on my cut. I’m pregnant and had to take a few breaks due to the “morning” sickness I have all day and she and the receptionist were so accommodating. I’ll be coming back for sure!
I was at Bishops Salon for hair and makeup services for my sons wedding last week. I want to say what a great job Zaynab did with both services. Being from out of town I just choose this salon from reviews. Zaynab was so pleasant, professional and talented. She is an asset to this salon!! Mary N.
One of the best salons in all of Tennessee with high quality work and a polite staff. Mitzi Bishop did my hair, she did such a professional and 5 star job that it made me want to come back. I got compliments from my friends all year long on the simple and natural highlights, even thought I usually don’t style my hair. Not only was the work exceptional but the atmosphere was agreeable and you could feel the how smooth everything was going.
I scheduled for a first time appointment with Jennifer a few weeks ago. I have challenging hair. It’s curly, dry, mature & I struggle with frizz. It was even more challenging than usual because I had covid hair meaning it had been months since it had been cut. In all honesty I was anxious. As it turns out there was no need to be anxious at all. Jennifer was professional and personable & she did an awesome job with my hair. Thanks again Jennifer!
Great place. People are very nice and knowledgeable. Young lady (Regan or Rogan *sorry*)did a fantastic job shaping up my shaggy hair. They fit me into a already busy schedule. Very thankful. Highly recommended! Thank you for your service!
