Quick Facts About Boulder Bay Park
Boulder Bay Park has a number of strengths and weaknesses based on the comments provided.
One of the biggest strengths of the park is its cleanliness. Multiple commenters mentioned that the park is very clean, which is a positive attribute for visitors who want to enjoy a tidy and well-maintained outdoor space. Additionally, the park offers easy parking, which is convenient for visitors who are driving to the area.
Another strength of Boulder Bay Park is its suitability for picnics. Multiple comments indicate that the park is a good place for picnics, with a long green patch of grass available for families to relax and enjoy their meals. The presence of picnic tables and benches also adds to the convenience and comfort of visitors who choose to have a picnic at the park.
The park's proximity to Big Bear Lake is another strength. Commenters mentioned that there is a path leading down to the lake, providing visitors with access to the water. This is especially attractive for those who enjoy swimming or participating in water activities. Additionally, the park is described as having a decent view of the lake, making it a visually appealing location for visitors.
The presence of a wooden bear statue is seen as a positive attribute as well. Commenters mentioned that the bear statue provides a photo opportunity, adding an element of interest and fun to the park. Visitors can create memories by taking pictures with the bear statue, enhancing their overall experience at Boulder Bay Park.
Despite these strengths, there are also weaknesses that need to be considered. One of the main weaknesses mentioned is the low water level of Big Bear Lake due to drought. Commenters noted that the receded water has changed the look of the park and affected activities such as swimming. This can be disappointing for visitors who were expecting to fully enjoy water-related activities during their visit to the park.
Limited shade is another weakness mentioned in the comments. While visitors appreciate the fresh air and cool lake breeze, the lack of shade can make it uncomfortable for those looking to escape the sun during hot weather. This is especially important to consider for individuals who may be more sensitive to heat or require shaded areas for health reasons.
Another weakness highlighted by one commenter is the limited size of the park. While the park is described as lovely, it is noted that it is relatively small. This could potentially limit the activities and space available for visitors, especially during peak times when the park may become crowded.
Parking availability is also mentioned as a weakness. One commenter advised arriving early or late due to limited parking space. This can create inconvenience for visitors who have to spend extra time searching for parking or may have to park farther away from the park and walk a longer distance.
In conclusion, Boulder Bay Park has several strengths, including its cleanliness, suitability for picnics, proximity to Big Bear Lake, and the presence of a wooden bear statue for photo opportunities. However, weaknesses such as low water levels due to drought, limited shade, a small park size, and limited parking availability should be taken into consideration when planning a visit to the park.

A very nice park, very clean. Probably a good place for a picnic. Decent but not the best view of the lake. Parking was easy. There were bathrooms here. There was a nice wooden bear statue to take a picture with. There was a path leading down to the lake so you had access to the water.
It's very beautiful here. Great for a picnic or family walk. Lots of places for photo ops. Normally, you could swim here, but the water is sadly much too receded right now. There's benches and picnic tables and restrooms.
Majestic rock formation that dazzle the mind . clean and beautiful . fresh air and cool lake breeze make up for the lack of shade. The receding lake due to the drought change the look of the park. It still desirable by rock climbers to enjoy .
Been to this park in the past but there was much more water then. Water has receded due to drought.
Nonetheless the park grounds are maintained nicely with plenty of space to relax and enjoy the view of boulder park.
Photos below are of me standing part of the lake where there was once water and views from the boulders.
This is a lovely park next to Big Bear Lake that we spent about half an hour at on our way to an Airbnb further into Big Bear. There’s a long green patch of grass for kids to run around and stretch their legs. There are also relatively clean restrooms. You can rent kayaks nearby to go down the dock on the lake. Note that the ramp down to the dock is a bit slippery, and there are large gaps in the railing that kids can easily fall through into the water, so keep an eye on your little ones.
This place is beautiful! The air is fresh and crisp. It's a nice getaway from LA, without taking too much time to get away from the big city. A refuge. So take some time out of the smog and enjoy a nice picnic in the mountains!
Very nice park though rather small. Biggest problem right now is the fact that the water is so low there's not much left in the little Bay. Hopefully that will turn around soon. Also parking is limited so best to get there early or late. Kayaks can be rented next door and wheeled over to the Sandy Beach for lunch which is nice.
We've always stopped at this park when ever we came up to Big Bear. It's so sad to see what the drought has done to the lake. The water level was so low, that we were able to walk over to the boulders and actually see the other side.
That being said, the park is a great spot to have a picnic or stop to see the view.
