Quick Facts About Café at the Royal
Café at the Royal Place has received a mix of positive and negative comments, highlighting both strengths and weaknesses of the establishment. In order to provide an in-depth analysis, the strengths and weaknesses will be discussed separately.
Strengths:
1. Competitive pricing: Multiple comments mentioned that the café offers reasonably priced food, which is considered good value for money. This can be a strength for attracting customers who are looking for affordable options.
2. Variety of options: One customer mentioned that there is plenty of choice for breakfast, indicating that the café offers a diverse menu. Having a range of options can appeal to a wider customer base, accommodating different dietary preferences and requirements.
3. Friendly and helpful staff: Despite the negative comments about rudeness from some staff members, there are positive comments about friendly and helpful employees. This indicates that there is potential for good customer service, which can contribute to a positive dining experience.
4. Nice food offerings: Comments mentioned specific items such as jacket potatoes, sausage rolls, and pasties, which were regarded as nice. This suggests that the café has some well-received menu items that customers enjoy.
Weaknesses:
1. Poor customer service: Several comments revolved around rude and unhelpful staff. The incidents mentioned include throwing sachets of sauce, being dismissive towards customers, and not being attentive. These examples of poor customer service reflect negatively on the café and can deter potential customers.
2. Inefficient system: Customers mentioned having to queue twice, once for a cup at the hot drinks machine and again to pay. This can be frustrating and time-consuming, potentially leading to a negative experience for customers.
3. Quality and temperature of drinks: Comments mentioned lukewarm coffee and drinks that were not hot enough. This indicates a lack of attention to detail and quality control when it comes to beverage preparation. Inconsistent quality can dissatisfy customers and impact their overall perception of the café.
4. Lack of communication: Comments mentioned the lack of information regarding vegan options. The café should ensure that their menu is clearly labeled and that staff members have sufficient knowledge about the options available to accommodate dietary preferences. Failure to do so can lead to misunderstandings and dissatisfaction among customers.
5. Negative customer interactions: One comment mentioned an encounter with a rude and disrespectful external staff member. Although this person may not be directly employed by the café, their behavior reflects poorly on the establishment. Customer complaints about staff behavior should be addressed promptly to ensure a positive and inclusive environment for all customers.
In conclusion, Café at the Royal Place has both strengths and weaknesses. Its competitive pricing, variety of food options, and friendly staff are strengths that can attract customers. However, shortcomings in customer service, efficiency, drink quality, communication, and negative customer interactions need to be addressed in order to improve the overall dining experience. By addressing these weaknesses, the café can strive to provide a more pleasant and satisfying experience for all customers.

Absolutely horrendous!!!!!! The staff are very very RUDE! Throw sachets of sauce at you, tell you they are 10 pence hoping you say ‘keep it’!!!! Told me toast takes ages-trying to put me off buying it!! Then collected it rammed in a brown bag!!!!!!! Special mention to the young lady on the till - spent more time telling a visitor about life with 2 very young kids than being attentive to my needs? When asked why no coffee machine? Answered very nastily’ITS BROKE’!!!!!!!! Needs a job away from public!
The other restaurant within hospital much much nicer with friendly attentive staff!!!!!!
Basic food, but very reasonably priced, so overall good value.
Lovely little cafe. Nice jacket potatoes. Nice sausage rolls and pasties. Reasonably priced too.
I wasnt impressed at all as you have to queue for a cup for the hot drinks machine then you have to queue again to pay! Also the vegan Croissant wasnt advertised as having a blob of jam in the centre it was also very dry and old tasting.plus the young girl with dark rimmed glasses wasnt very polite or helpful when i asked for a vegan roll and when i asked if the croissants were vegan she said i think so!! I had to ask her to chck! So all in all my experience wasnt a good one!!
By the time I got to till with my coffee it was warm an not hot I like my hot drinks hot not cool enough to drink down in a few seconds ????
The cafe itself and there staff where lovely and helpful. But once we had seated were had to endure a very nhs domestic staff who was very rude all because of were we had chosen to sit . We sat were we sat as no one else in the seating area and my mum is diabetic. My mum has put in a formal complaint regarding this person .. we expect more from nhs staff..
Coffee was awful , luke warm . Very strong and expensive. Staff very friendly ...
I have been a couple of times for breakfast and there is plenty of choice for me. I'm always a bit disappointed as it's not as hot as I expected but I suppose it goes with the territory. The staff are very friendly and helpful so that you can always get help if needed.
