Quick Facts About Anchor Inn

Anchor Inn appears to have a range of strengths and weaknesses based on the comments provided. It is necessary to analyze the comments thoroughly in order to provide a comprehensive assessment.
Starting with the weaknesses, several negative comments have been made about the cleanliness and maintenance of the pub. The comment "disgusting" highlights the poor conditions of the pub, including a toilet seat hanging off in the men's restroom and sick on the floor. This raises concerns about hygiene and upkeep. Additionally, comments on dirty glasses and old, dirty furniture suggest a lack of attention to cleanliness. Furthermore, one customer mentioned that the pub looks closed from the outside, which could deter potential visitors. The fact that the bar staff prefer to order takeaways rather than cook in the pub kitchen implies a lack of confidence in the food offerings, potentially indicating subpar quality.
Another commonly mentioned weakness is the inconsistency in opening hours. One customer mentioned that the pub was locked up at midday on a Saturday, suggesting that the landlord may not be proactive in ensuring the pub is open for business. This lack of reliability could lead to customer dissatisfaction and a decline in business.
On the other hand, the strengths of Anchor Inn include positive comments about the staff. The phrases "friendly helpful staff," "lovely staff," and "made very welcome" indicate that the staff members are pleasant and accommodating. The comment about quick table service also suggests that the staff are attentive and efficient, which is a positive attribute for a pub.
The environment of the pub is also seen as a strength. A customer mentioned that there is plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors, indicating that there is ample space for customers to relax and socialize. The mention of a generous and spacious beer garden with a view of the canal is particularly enticing, as it provides a picturesque setting for enjoying a drink. Additionally, the comment about a lovely indoor space suggests that there is a pleasant atmosphere within the pub.
Furthermore, the entertainment options are highlighted as a strength. References to live music and the opportunity to dance on a Saturday night indicate that Anchor Inn provides entertainment options for patrons. This can attract a diverse range of customers and contribute to a lively and enjoyable atmosphere.
Despite these strengths, it is important to note that one customer mentioned that the pub is not how they remember it from years ago. This suggests that there may have been a decline in quality or ambiance over time, as the comment refers to few customers and a very untidy setting. However, the mention of good Guinness indicates that the pub still maintains some positive aspects.
In conclusion, Anchor Inn has a mix of strengths and weaknesses based on the comments provided. While the cleanliness, maintenance, and consistency in opening hours are areas of concern, the friendly staff, spacious environment, and entertainment options are attributes that can attract customers. It is important for the pub to address and rectify the weaknesses in order to maintain and build a positive reputation.

Disgusting. Toilet seat hanging off in mens. Sick on floor, there was no one else in the pub and this was 2pm. Glasses so dirty we left our drinks. Tables, furniture and floor so old and dirty the cleaner must think they can't be bothered to clean them....Grotty. from thr outside it looks closed, even a takeaway delivery driver said it looked closed when he gave the barman his dinner. It must be bad when the bar staff prefer takeaways rather than cooking in the pub kitchen.
I complained to Marstons as I am sure no one from head office has visited this pub for years.
I'm not from the area but if this pub was near my house it would have been closed and renovated years ago
Went for a beer at midday on a saturday.... and its still locked up. Can the landlord not be bothered to get up. No wonder its closing down.
Fantastic building (Spoons).
Quick table service, friendly helpful staff. Handy if your on a narrowboat to Walsall basin or it's art museum
I go to the over 50s club on Thursday afternoons, 1-3pm and we're made very welcome. Only downside is no food available. Staff are very helpful and will bring drinks to your table which is great as a lot of us have mobility issues.
Lovely staff and friendly environment, and plenty of seating both indoor and out!
Went to see some live music and had a ball.
Very much recommended. Who doesn't like a boogie on a Saturday night.
Lovely pub nice indoors and generous spacious beer garden that looks out on to the canal across the road. Nice beer that doesn't taste like it's been watered down like in some places and very reasonable priced. A lovely place to visit for a few drinks on a Sunday day
Sadly, not how we remember it from years ago. Few customers and very untidy. Guinness was good.
