Ordered fried chicken pieces and chips with mushy peas and gravy. Service was good and the food was delicious. I was happy when I realised the chicken was boneless too. Tasty food and certainly the best chips we've eaten in a while. My partner ordered a sausage dinner, he did have to break down the order of sausage, chips, peas and gravy, I think maybe it's a northern thing ????. He thoroughly enjoyed his meal ????
Nice fish & chip shop located just off the old high street... Every time I pop in there, the service is always polite and prompt... my order is always cooked fresh from scratch which is very nice but if you are in a hurry it may be a problem as parking in the area is rather cumbersome... Menu options are the standard affair for a chippie ranging from the usual fishes (as well as the not so usual huss & pollock, and surprisingly prawns) to burgers and fried chicken...
Wow!! Grrrrreat fish and chips! Generous portions and crispy, not greasy. The best I've had in a long time. Also, the whitebait, so good! Thank you to this gem of a family business
Time to get your skate on and head to Down Town Fish Bar! I was going to order Cod and chips until I saw Skate is available for £6:60 Fri-Sat only. Not sure I’ve ever had skate and chips before so I went for it. It took about 15 minutes to be freshly cooked to order. That’s because it was extremely busy with waiting customers and those who had ordered for collection. The staff didn’t stop the whole time I was there. Very hard working, they must be absolutely battered by the end of their shift! When I got home, I was impressed with the amount of chips in my small portion, more than enough. Because of the high turnover they were fresh. The skate was delicious. Looking forward to treating myself again soon to the nations favourite meal - fish & chips.
Cod & chips twice. The fish wasn't battered properly but it tasted nice.
The chips were a disappointment..
It you lay a piece Cod over the chips , the chips have no chance of staying that freshly cooked texture.
Polystyrene is in NO WAY as good as cardboard, it makes the chips sweat.
They need to be cooked longer.
I've been here before and had better.
Best fish and chip shop in Tunbridge Wells! Staff so polite too. Best to order by phone before going there or you might have to wait but it’s worth it! Thank you
Superb in all respects. Friendly, helpful staff, lovely LARGE Cod & Chips, freshly cooked. Take it back to The Grove Tavern, to have with your pint - they won't (if you offer them a chip) mind!
Sadly it used to be a good shop English fish and chip shop is very rare now if they ain’t English then It is not a fish and chip shop, ruin the village by putting a dirty stinking kebab shop next door. Just like Marinos they serve up crispy little chips and mash and slop Jank.
