Quick Facts About Fairfield Plaice
Fairfield Plaice is a fish and chip shop located in a housing estate in Buxton. It has received a mix of positive and negative comments, which provide insights into its strengths and weaknesses.
One of the strengths highlighted by customers is that the food is prepared to order. This indicates that the meals are freshly cooked and not pre-made, ensuring quality and freshness. Additionally, customers mentioned that the fish batter is light and crispy, and the chips are always hot and fresh. This suggests that the shop takes pride in the quality of its food and has a focus on providing a satisfying dining experience.
Another strength mentioned is the friendly and pleasant staff. Customers found the people working at the Fairfield Plaice to be lovely and approachable, creating a welcoming atmosphere. The staff members were also described as happy and always up for a chat, indicating good customer service.
Several customers praised the gluten-free options available at Fairfield Plaice. They mentioned that the gluten-free fish and chips were delicious and did not cause any illness. This indicates that the shop caters to dietary needs and is committed to providing safe and enjoyable meals for all customers.
Fairfield Plaice also received positive feedback for other menu items beyond traditional fish and chips. One customer mentioned that they enjoyed the pea fritters, which were described as delicious. Another customer praised the fried chicken and chips, stating that it was the best in Buxton. These comments suggest that the shop offers a variety of tasty options beyond the standard fare, making it appealing to a wider range of preferences.
However, there are a few weaknesses mentioned by customers that should be considered. Some customers felt that the prices at Fairfield Plaice were a bit high. One comment mentioned that it was £25 for two fish and chips with four bread rolls, which was considered pricey. This might deter price-sensitive customers, particularly in a town where other options are available.
Another weakness mentioned by a customer was the quality of certain food items. They felt that their donner wrap was flat and cold, suggesting that the preparation could be improved for some menu items. Additionally, it was mentioned that the shop does not offer a mixed meat wrap, which may limit options for customers with specific preferences.
Despite these weaknesses, several positive reviews highlighted the satisfaction of customers with their overall experience at Fairfield Plaice. Customers mentioned that the food was delicious and that the service was excellent. One customer recommended the shop highly, giving it a 10/10 rating for both food and service. These positive comments suggest that the strengths of the shop, such as the quality of food and friendly staff, outweigh its weaknesses.
In conclusion, Fairfield Plaice has several strengths, including freshly prepared food, friendly staff, gluten-free options, and a variety of tasty menu items. However, it also has a few weaknesses, such as high prices and potential improvements in food preparation. Despite these weaknesses, the overall positive reviews indicate that Fairfield Plaice is a popular choice for customers and provides a satisfying dining experience.

Food prepared to order but bit pricey i think at £ 25 quid for 2 x fish chips n pease with 4 bread rolls.
Delicious food, lovely people. The mushy peas are the best, fish batter is light & crispy, chips are always hot & fresh. I've also discovered today that they make pea fritters!!! Amazing mushy peas in batter....Delicious. Can highly recommend ????
It’s okay. Just some of your food can be make better - for example - it’s nice to grill the wrap when someone is ordering donner wrap. Mine was flat and cold. And it’s a shame you cannot make mix meat wrap :( anyway, tried your chips and were delicious!
Visited today as was local great gluten free fish n chips didn't make me ill etc
Best fried chicken and chips in Buxton!!! Food is very fresh, cooked perfectly and served hot. The staff are great too, lovely happy people and always up for a chat and a laugh - highly recommend!! Food and service is 10/10.
Going by the recommendations, we thought let's give it a go as not local & on holiday. Thoroughly enjoyed the gluten free cod! Chips & curry sauce lovely too. Hard to fault tho a tad pricey (but everything seems pricey at the moment). Well worth a visit.
Good fish and chip shop good prices the kids enjoy it
Used google to search local chips shops in Buxton on the way home because my daughter was starving, this one came up with the best reviews. It’s in a housing estate but we drove and parked up.
She only had chips and a sausage but she said it was nice. Cheaper and better than one in the town centre. Too no time at all to get her order and paid on card. Min £5 though
