Quick Facts About Rhydypennau Inn

The Rhydypennau Inn has received mostly positive comments, indicating several strengths of the establishment. One of the main strengths mentioned is the fantastic food. Customers have specifically praised the gammon from the main menu as delicious. It is evident that the pub takes pride in their food quality and taste. The fact that customers have returned multiple times and still found the food to be good demonstrates consistency and reliability in the kitchen.
Another strength mentioned is the excellent service provided by the staff. Customers have consistently reported feeling welcomed and well taken care of during their visits. Many have mentioned the friendly and helpful nature of the waitresses and bar staff. The presence of a lovely older lady who went above and beyond for customers during lunch is particularly noteworthy. These positive interactions contribute to the overall positive experience and make customers want to return to the pub.
The pub also offers a variety of amenities and facilities, such as a pool table and darts, a play area outside, garden seating, and being dog-friendly. These features contribute to the pub's appeal and make it a versatile and enjoyable space for different types of customers. The well-maintained kids play area is mentioned as a positive aspect, indicating that families with children can find a welcoming environment at the Rhydypennau Inn.
Many customers have praised the Sunday carvery, indicating that it is a popular option at the pub. The generous portion sizes and tasty desserts make customers feel like they are getting their money's worth. The presence of a dedicated staff member on the carvery is also appreciated, as it adds to the friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The fact that the pub is accommodating and willing to try and accommodate walk-in customers despite being busy is also a strength, as it shows a customer-focused approach.
While the pub has received mostly positive comments, there are a few areas of weakness mentioned. One customer mentioned that they found the food on carvery day to be subpar, describing it as tasting a bit "ping & fling." This comment suggests that the food quality on carvery days may not be up to par with the other days of the week. However, it is important to note that this comment is an outlier, and most customers have had positive experiences with the food.
Another customer mentioned that the pub was a bit cold during their visit, especially since the fire was not lit. This indicates that the temperature control or heating system may need improvement, especially during colder seasons. However, it is important to note that this comment was specific to an out-of-season visit, and it may not be a consistent issue throughout the year.
One customer mentioned a negative experience with their meal, specifically with the peas and the fish batter. While they received an apology and a discount offer from the owner, they expressed that they would not be returning due to their dissatisfaction. This comment suggests that there may be occasional lapses in food quality or consistency, which could be an area of improvement for the pub.
In conclusion, the Rhydypennau Inn has several strengths that contribute to its positive reputation. The fantastic food, excellent service, and various amenities make it an appealing destination for customers. While there are a couple of areas that could be improved, such as consistency in food quality and temperature control, the overall positive feedback from customers indicates that the pub is doing a great job in providing a welcoming and enjoyable experience.

Great pub, fantastic food...we were greeted by the waitress and made to feel very welcome. Had gammon from the main menu which was delicious. The waitress and gent behind the bar were both lovely... e sat in the lower bar, but there's also another larger dining area from the car park side, a great room with pool table and darts, little play area outside, garden seating, dog friendly....enjoyed our first visit and will certainly be back.
Been back again twice now..still as good, the team are lovely..so nice to our dog too..food was just as good as the first time we went!
We stopped for a spot of lunch - the service was brilliant!!! A lovely older lady couldn't do enough for us. We had a children's burger meal and an adults burger they were lovely. Great priced food will most definitely be back.
We visited for Sunday lunch and will definitely return again. The service was excellent, the staff were very helpful and the owner was a proper landlord who was taking care to make sure that a busy service ran well. The Sunday carvery was good and the portion was generous. The chap who was on the carvery was also friendly even though we were there later in the service and he'd probably had a long shift! The desserts were nice and the portions enormous, we certainly felt we got our money's worth. The kids play area was well cared for and in good order, smoking area looked good too. We did book ahead as it was busy but I got the impression that the staff would do what they could to accommodate walk in tables if they could.
What a little gem! Fabulous food , lovely stuff! Recipe for a perfect Sunday!
Friendly staff. We landed on carvery day (Sunday), when perhaps corners are cut, but the food wasn't great. Tasted a bit ping & fling, which is fine for a chain place, because it's what you pay for. Disappointed.
Nice little pub.. has TVs for sky sports.
First time we've been out of season so it was a bit cold, the fire would have been a nice feature if it had been lit.
Second time we've stopped here when out on the motorbikes Great food and good value very busy on Sunday so may not have a table available.
Pictures can be desieving. From the picture my meal looked good but the peas were like bullets and the batter on the fish was crispy on the top but wet and soggy on the bottom. I told the barmaid who said she would tell the chef and that was the last I saw of her. When I went to pay I repeated my thoughts to any barmaid who just said she was sorry about it. When we went to the car the owner came to talk to me. He said mine was the first complaint about the fish but agreed the batter on my plate was not good. He also offered a discount on any meal we had in the future. Unfortunately I will not be returning and told him so.
