Quick Facts About First Lady Hair Braiding Salon
First Lady Hair Braiding Salon has several strengths and weaknesses based on the comments provided.
Strengths:
1. Friendly and skilled staff: Multiple commenters mentioned that the staff, particularly Rose and her sister, were nice and did a great job on their hair. They praised their professionalism, skill level, and caring attitude.
2. Fast service: One commenter noted that the salon finished their braids in a relatively short time compared to other places they had been to. This efficiency could be a positive aspect for customers who value quick service.
3. Clean and neat braids: Another commenter mentioned that the parts were clean and the stylists were able to do box braids of the desired size and style. This demonstrates attention to detail and precision in their work.
Weaknesses:
1. Tight braiding: Multiple commenters expressed concerns about the tightness of the braids. One customer even stated that they experienced hair loss and damage to their edges due to the tight braiding. This is a significant weakness as it can cause discomfort and potential harm to the customer's hair and scalp.
2. Pricing inconsistencies: One customer mentioned that they felt overcharged compared to their friend for the same style of braids. The commenter also noted impatience from the workers and a general sense of dissatisfaction with the pricing and service.
3. Rough handling of hair: One customer had a negative experience with an older staff member who was rough while braiding their hair. This resulted in discomfort and cringing throughout the process. Rough handling can lead to damage or breakage of the hair and is considered a weakness in the salon's service.
4. Communication issues: Several commenters mentioned that there were miscommunications or misunderstandings regarding pricing, included services, and hair care. This could lead to customer dissatisfaction and confusion about what to expect during their visit.
5. Child-friendly environment: While this may not be a weakness for everyone, one commenter mentioned that workers sometimes bring their children to the salon, which may not be ideal for customers who prefer a more professional and focused atmosphere without distractions.
6. Pricey: One comment mentioned that the salon is pricey, which could be a weakness for customers seeking more affordable options for their hair braiding needs.
7. Walk-in wait times: While the salon accepts walk-ins, one commenter advised making an appointment to avoid potentially long wait times. This could be inconvenient for customers who prefer spontaneous visits or have limited availability.
Overall, First Lady Hair Braiding Salon has strengths such as friendliness, skill, and speed, but also weaknesses including tight braiding, pricing inconsistencies, rough handling of hair, communication issues, and a child-friendly environment. These factors should be considered by potential customers when choosing a hair braiding salon.

Rose and her sister are so nice. They did a great job on my daughters hair for her graduation. I will be going back soon to get my hair done.
I tried to like this place and I’ve been several times but each time I wonder if I should go somewhere else. They’re fast and somewhat friendly but they braid way too right. This last time I cringed every single time and I kept telling her it’s too tight. Every time I give directions or show a pic I wind up with the exact same style- too much hair, and too little parts (which means it's too heavy) - and a headache. It’s convenient as far as the time it takes, but I don’t think it’s worth your edges. UPDATE - I definitely loss some hair this last round and my edges suffered.
I went to this place 2 times but the second time I knew I’ve been getting robbed. I referred a friend who’s daughter received medium single $120; I received the same ones but longer the first two times for $250. By the the 2nd time I got the same as what my friend received for her daughter and they still charged me $250. Shorter than what I’m used to getting and I still was charged $250. This place is a RIP OFF! Impatient workers. She wear a short hair cut and usually works on the end in the back and there’s one named BaBY who just hates everyone she works with and it’s like she’s being forced to work. ????????. Want to waste your time and money go to First Lady Hair Braiding.
This is my second time here. Rose did my braids the first time and I LOVED it. Came here a second time, rose was on vacation but I came anyways. The older lady was SO RUFF. It was insane. I have all natural hair and blow dried my hair prior to arriving, but she felt the need to blow dry it again. I thought no big deal but was so ruff that another staff had to step in because it was so ruff. Every time she started a braid I was legit cringing. I texted Rose prior to arriving to the store to ask if the hair was included she said yes and also on pricing. I get to the store and they said no hair is not included and the price we agreed on was too little ( what?!). They continued to ask if I spoke French ( I’m sure they wanted to make sure I couldn’t understand before they talked about me ????). Needless to say I will not be back and planning on taking out these braid only a week after I got them done. If you care about your edges do not risk it.
if you're getting box braids, this is a great place to go. They will do them the size and style you want, the parts are clean, and they work very quickly, which anyone who gets braids knows that they can take forever. Every time I go here they finish my braids in 2-3.5 hours...other places I've been take up to 6 hours. just make sure to come with your hair detangled beforehand
I have never seen good quality work like I got from First Lady hair braiding salon. The staff are very professional and caring. The skill level is beyond. Rose is such a people person with the best personality. She made me feel so good about myself. I'm so glad I found her. Always gonna be my hair stylist. #bestsalon-ever#excellent-job#yourockrose.
This is the worst hair experience I have ever had. I have a full, ~15 inches of natural 4c hair and have never had issues with my edges or hair falling out I came to First Lady Hair looking for a simple crochet braid hairstyle. The stylist completely DAMAGED my hair in two ways: (1) She braided it so tight that it left a bald spot on my edges. To be clear, I repeatedly asked her to braid looser and also asked her to take out two braids and re-do them because they were to tight. However, still the resulting braids were tight enough to lead to semi-permanent hair loss on my edges. While this may eventually grow back, this will take a while and was simply avoidable, especially since I asked several times and (2) Unbeknownst to me, they also CUT OFF at least TWO INCHES of my NATURAL hair after they braided the hair. I do not know how this happened but am assuming that they accidentally cut my hair assuming that it was the synthetic hair (again, my hair is relatively long and they must have mistaken my real hair for the fake hair). Worse yet - I did not discover this until I took the hair out 6 weeks later. When I called and shared some of these issues with the salon, Rose did not even offer so much as a refund or complimentary service. In addition to the actual damage done to my hair, overall the experience in the salon was actually TERRIBLE. They had two people working on my hair at one time, pulling and tugging and snatching at my natural hair. Overall, I would recommend finding another place in the Boston area that actually knows how to manage natural hair and who will not inadvertently cut inches off your hair or leave you with bald spots. Everything that could go wrong with a simple style like crochet braids did go wrong. Attached is a photo of the bald spot the left in my hair.
Yes it's pricey
But when you have 6 different women doing your hair that would usually take around 8 hours in 3 hours, I guess it's kind of worth it.
To avoid any confusion (because the workers don't work there regularly they get commission) just call the boss lady her name is rose and clarify everything with her
It is a family friendly place and workers sometimes bring their children (if they have any) so if you don't like kids don't bother
You need to be a specific as possible about what you want because when you start braiding there is no stopping in the middle of your head
If you don't know what you want ask for pictures rose (boss lady) has a lot of them
And just a disclaimer for those of you who have never hair braided before the tighter the braid the longer it lasts so bear with the pain
Set an appointment 1st walking's are welcome but sometimes you have to wait a while
