Quick Facts About Forde Park

Forde Park Place is a lovely park located in a quiet area on the outskirts of Newton Abbott. It boasts beautiful trees and lawns, making it a picturesque location for visitors. One of the standout features of the park is the Pavilion Cafe, which offers a range of great drinks, snacks, and cakes. This is a fantastic addition to the park, providing visitors with a cozy spot to relax and enjoy some refreshments.
Additionally, Forde Park Place has amenities such as tennis courts and even a croquet lawn. This makes it an ideal location for those who enjoy outdoor activities and sports. The park is also known for its large size, providing plenty of room for visitors to have a kick around with their kids or walk their dogs. It is usually busy at the weekends, with football kids teams training at the park.
Another strength of Forde Park Place is the friendliness and helpfulness of the cafe staff. Visitors have praised the cafe for its welcoming atmosphere and have mentioned that the staff even offered to lend tennis rackets to visitors for use on the courts. This level of customer service is highly appreciated and adds to the overall positive experience of the park.
The park is also well-maintained and generally clean, with paths for kids to ride their bikes and trees to explore. Visitors have mentioned that it is almost litter-free, which is a testament to the park's good upkeep. There are even blankets available for visitors to use and set down, making it even more convenient for picnics or relaxation.
Forde Park Place is known to be a popular spot for dog walkers, as it offers a lovely green open space with lots of trees and flowers. The park is especially beautiful during springtime, when the flowers are in full bloom. This makes it a tranquil and pleasant setting for a leisurely stroll or walk with your furry friend.
The park's amenities, such as the tennis courts and croquet lawn, are well-utilized and often busy. This is a testament to their popularity among the community. Additionally, the park now has a pavilion cafe, which is run as a community social enterprise. This is a great initiative, as it not only provides visitors with a place to grab refreshments, but also supports the local community.
However, there are a few weaknesses that have been mentioned in the comments. Some visitors have expressed a desire for more benches in the park, as well as a small play area for little ones. These additions would enhance the park's appeal, particularly for families with young children. Additionally, it would provide more seating options for visitors who may want to stop and rest.
In conclusion, Forde Park Place is a wonderful park with many strengths. Its beautiful trees and lawns, coupled with the Pavilion Cafe and various amenities, make it an attractive destination for visitors. The park's cleanliness, friendliness, and range of activities ensure that visitors have an enjoyable experience. While there are a few areas for improvement, such as the addition of more benches and a play area, the overall positive feedback and love for the park make it a highly recommended location.

This is a great place to have a kick around with the kids or walk the dog. It's usually busy at the weekend as there are football kids teams training there. It's huge though so there's plenty of room for everyone. You can also walk through to Decoy Park.
Always love Forde park, the cafe is super friendly and have a nice small menu (cakes, bacon baps, icecreams etc). They even came out and offered to lend us some tennis rackets which we used in the courts. So friendly, lots of happy dogs and owners. Blankets that you can use and set down.
