Quick Facts About Fountain Inn

The Fountain Inn is a traditional pub located in the pedestrian area of Queen Street. It is praised for its beautiful and atmospheric interior, which features old English décor and a display of local and regional trophies and shields. Many customers appreciate the friendly and welcoming nature of the host, Debbie, who always has a smile for everyone, even passing trade. This creates a positive and inviting atmosphere for both regulars and newcomers.
One of the strengths of the Fountain Inn is its affiliation with Sam Smiths, a well-known brewery. The pub offers a good selection of Sam Smiths products at reasonable prices. This is well-received by customers who enjoy the taste and quality of these beers. Additionally, the pub has a private car park and is located near free public car parks, making it convenient for customers to visit.
The pub is also often described as cosy and welcoming, with staff and regular customers alike creating a friendly and down-to-earth atmosphere. This promotes a sense of community and encourages patrons to feel comfortable and relaxed.
However, there are some weaknesses that have been pointed out by customers. One common complaint is the large signs stating "NO PHONE'S or LAPTOPS. CASH ONLY." This policy may deter customers who prefer to use their phones or laptops while enjoying a drink or who prefer to use electronic payment methods. Some individuals also find the lack of music and fruit machines to be boring and limiting in terms of entertainment options.
Another weakness that has been noted is that the pub can sometimes be quiet, which may give off a lackluster atmosphere. While this isn't necessarily the pub's fault, it can affect the overall experience for some customers who prefer a livelier environment.
A few customers have mentioned that the prices at the Fountain Inn are higher than expected for a Sam Smiths pub. This might be seen as a weakness, as it can deter cost-conscious customers or those who compare pricing between different venues.
There have also been comments regarding the attitude of some staff members, particularly the landlord. Some customers have reported feeling unwelcome or that the staff are not engaging or attentive. Customer service is a crucial aspect of any establishment, and negative experiences with staff can undermine the overall impression of the pub.
Furthermore, there have been mentions of the possibility of the pub being converted into flats in the future. This could be seen as a weakness for those who value the pub's traditional atmosphere and fear the loss of a community gathering place.
In conclusion, the Fountain Inn has several strengths, including its beautiful interior, friendly host, good selection of Sam Smiths products, and welcoming atmosphere. However, weaknesses include the restrictions on technology, limited entertainment options, occasional quiet atmosphere, higher prices, mixed reviews of staff attitudes, and the potential for future conversion into flats. These factors should be considered when evaluating whether the Fountain Inn is the right choice for a quick drink or a night out.

Beautiful and atmospheric traditional pub. The interior is old English with a wonderful selection of local and regional trophies and shields on display throughout. Debbie, the host is welcoming and friendly with a smile for even passing trade. Would I recommend it for a quick drink or a night out? Definitely.
Superb pub in Queen Street pedestrian area. A Sam Smiths venue with very friendly managers and staff. Prices reasonable for a good choice of Sam Smiths products. Has private car park and near free public car parks. Wheelchair access might be from car park but stepped pedestrian entrance at front. Very cosy and welcoming, by staff and regular customers.
Nice Pub, Friendly Staff. Just such a Shame about the Large sign's stating, NO PHONE'S or LAPTOPS. CASH ONLY. No Music, No Fruit Machines , pretty Boring
Very quiet when I was there but not the pubs fault. Good old fashioned proper pub. Good selection of beers and good competitive pricing. Down to earth friendly bar staff, treat with respect and you will receive same.
Called in last Monday and found a great old fashioned kind of pub run by Sam Smiths with a wide range of drinks on offer. I chose sovereign my partner had taddy lager the price bit expensive compared to what Sam Smiths use to be.no music allowed or pictures to be taken.only entertainment was the pool table. It was empty when whe went in and the same when whe left. Wich was a shame I'm afraid Sam Smiths has gone a bit down hill .Nice pub and beer but the rest mm
Decent pub. Changed a bit since I used to go every week, 40 years ago. Like the no mobiles rule, makes for real conversation, not everybody with a blue face looking down at their phone.

Visited again 12/08/2020, met with the most boring pub in the area. Don't mind the technology ban, even appreciate it, but the place is dead, no atmosphere.
Landlord can barely be bothered to talk, not welcoming.
Prices are higher than expected in a Sams pub.
Expect this will be the next Morley pub to be converted into flats.
Very friendly pub ,good beer only entertainment is the pool table and one armed bandit but if your wanting to talk and not have to shout over music this is the place to go to.
