It's a decent quality chip shop, but was served by a very rude man who gave me a tiny portion of chips and charged me full price for the left overs. Wont be back again sadly after that. In hard times you want to support people, so it's sad to have to write a negative review for your local chip shop. All he needed to do was be kind, and I wouldn't be here writing this review.

Good portion of fish and chips for OAP special.

Normally the food is amazing with large portion sizes. Lovely family run business who aways greet you with a smile. Not sure what happened tonight but food was really greasy and half my chips weren't cooked although looked well done! Awful! You need to teach your staff some manners too as the bigger lady (sorry not meant to sound rude!) comes accross arrogant and is really rude! Will try again in a few weeks, hopefully will be back to the normal lovey food

Food normally lovely and big portions but tonight, unfortunately, was awful! Chips looked overcooked but half of mine were raw and crunchy and the battered cod was wet and swimming in oil! Such a shame! Staff are lovely except for the larger lady that served me this evening was very rude and full of attitude?! Shame as everyone else in the shop are really kind and polite. Hopefully better next week when we come again.

Never having used this takeaway before, I was very impressed with the quality and value for money of the fish and chips. Meal for four cost less than £25. There was a wide variety of food options available in addition to the fish

Golden Fry has got to be one of the best fish and chip shops in Chelmsford. It's just a shame they don't deliver.

This is a very good typical chippy. Good portion size of chips the large size is good value food always cooked well hot and good quality. Service is prompt and you can even call ahead to cook anything if you are in a long queue usually long wait friday and at the weekend.
