Quick Facts About Jai's African Hair Braiding

Strengths:
1. Friendly staff: Despite the negative reviews, multiple comments mention that the staff was nice, friendly, and provided good customer service. This is an important strength as good customer service can have a significant impact on the overall experience for customers.
2. Fast service: One positive review mentioned that the braiding was done quickly, with the customer's hair being completed in less than 3 hours. Fast service can be a major strength for a hair braiding salon, as customers often prefer efficient and timely service.
3. Good quality braids: A few comments mentioned that the braids were neat, full, and looked good. This indicates that the salon has the capability to provide quality braiding services, which can attract customers who are looking for well-executed hairstyles.
4. Cultural atmosphere: One positive review mentioned that they loved the cultural atmosphere in the shop. This suggests that the salon has created an ambiance that celebrates and reflects the African hair braiding culture, which can be appealing to customers seeking an authentic experience.
Weaknesses:
1. Lack of communication: Several negative reviews mentioned issues with communication, such as not being informed about cash-only payment, not being informed about appointment delays, and not being informed about changes in the style. Poor communication can lead to customer dissatisfaction and can negatively impact the overall customer experience.
2. Inconsistent service: Multiple comments highlight issues with inconsistency in service, such as the inconsistency in the quality of braiding, inconsistency in customer treatment, and inconsistency in adherence to appointment times. Inconsistent service can lead to a lack of trust and reliability, which can deter customers from returning or recommending the salon.
3. Unprofessionalism: Some reviews mentioned unprofessional behavior, such as arguing with customers, demanding additional payment after increasing the price, and making false assumptions about children. Unprofessional behavior can create a negative environment for both customers and employees, and it can harm the reputation and credibility of the salon.
4. Cleanliness and ambiance: A few comments mentioned that the shop was dirty and had torn seats. The cleanliness and overall ambiance of a salon significantly contribute to the overall experience and can impact the perception of professionalism and attention to detail.
5. Limited availability of skilled braiders: One comment mentioned difficulty in finding good braiders in the area, with only one braider meeting the customer's expectations and being booked and busy. This suggests that the salon may not have a sufficient number of skilled braiders, which can limit their ability to cater to a diverse range of customers.
In conclusion, Jai's African Hair Braiding place has strengths in terms of friendly staff, fast service, good quality braids, and a cultural atmosphere. However, it faces weaknesses in communication, inconsistency in service, unprofessionalism, cleanliness, and limited availability of skilled braiders. It is essential for the salon to address these weaknesses and focus on improving the overall customer experience to attract and retain customers.

Best TL Reviews

The staff was very nice. This was my first time using this salon. My technician had heavy hands and the quality, neat appearance of my hair was no where near what I’m accustom to.
The work was Just overall sloppy, the hair braider was rude and argumentative about the style I wanted. Over priced for sloppy work. I asked for medium knotless box braids and I did not get what I asked for. Then the owner comes in half way through the service and asks if I can pay now and I said no. I will never use this business again. I recommend no one else does either. The shop was very dirty and the workers were so very rude. As you see in the picture the rows are uneven and the braids are all uneven when they were feeding the hair in. This is not MEDIUM. Knotless braids means you braid my hair first and then add the hair at the end. I have some braids knotless and the others are just a mess. I was charged $200 for this style. When I tell you the ladies x’s 2 who did my hair tried to pull my brain out through my scalp it was horrific I wanted to cry when I felt my head burn but instead I laughed because I knew they were taking their anger and frustration out on my head. The old me would have slapped them but I had to resist because I should of did my research on this place: The pulling from their braiding was a feeling that was so unbearable I couldn’t understand how you pulled my hair so tight and it still looks a mess. I am sad. African hair braiding shops used to be the best place to get authentic beautiful braid styles. Now they are about money and not quality of service
I read a comment about place which I found funny cause that location is the size of 2 jail cells , BUT its braiding hair so I feel like that's ok... there was 2 ladies there's and they were both nice , I can't knock that.. what got to me was ... 1. Cash. I called prior and was not told it was cash only , but I honestly think they just didn't want to give me another option, telling me zelle isn't working today , which I found comical... and I didn't see a sign that says cash only .. they told me to walk across the street to amscot... I know these small business sometimes prefer cash to keep it clean and simple , but tell your customers prior to services being rendered or at the very least , put a sign up.. and 2nd. This really isn't meant to throw a jab at them , but I can't seem to find a good braider here , there's only 1 and she is booked and busy and deep in tampa.. only braider I have come across that is what I am looking for ... granted , my child is tender headed .. but its the 2nd " African braiding " location I have been to and I feel like I get treated the same ... which is not good.. and ones of those situations to , you treat me different cause of my race but you can't even braid well ... I just don't understand why its hard to get 2 CLEAN braids .. the price was good and like I said , they were nice ... but going back again, not. I rather not deal with racial injustices for 2 low level braids .... and for some who see the picture may think " that looks great" .... but I have seen nice clean braids , I know it can be better . And like I said, this is the 2nd place like this , both locations unrelated... I think it's just my area at this point.
So, after seeing the reviews.. I am glad she Braided my hair decent. Because these reviews had me scared! I do agree they are VERY UNPROFESSIONAL.. they switch people doing My hair like 3 times. Had me waiting. Got there 11:30- and left at 5 and they saidill be done within 4 hours because of the style. They actually did what they want.. wanted longer and different style. But they lady convinced me to get traditional box braids because it will last longer which was indeed true , so I was okay. I wished they made it to my length though. It wasnt that short, just like my braids very long. They are tight! 1-10 ill say 8 ! Its nice and neat and they do braid fast they just talk tooo much and stops too much. I feel like the price was affordable! Everything expensive now a days. They was not rude to me AT ALL. Idk? Maybe one was nice bc she wanted something but the other two was okay. They was friendly enough. I probably wont go back here.. this will be my last resort! Braids are okay! Hair place is ew. Looks like they just started and been here for 10 years. Its not professional at all. I will not recommend this place. Braids was nice and they was friendly to me but its alot they need to fix
If I could rate this dirty shop a ZERO, I would! I made an appointment and confirmed it the night before....I arrived, and they were 45 minutes behind schedule! She used black gel to twist my son’s dreads, and charged 20.00 more than she stated in our text conversation. After showing her the text and having us wait 45 minutes, her unprofessional self STILL demanded to be paid 20.00 additional. His hair was clean, so no excuse for the extra cash.....she was clearly a rate of ZERO. Stay clear of this place, the shop is dirty, and the seats are ripped showing the inside stuffing of the chair!!
I love it and I will be back. I showed Zena(hopefully I didn’t spell it wrong) the hairstyle that I wanted and she perfected! She wasnt heavy handed nor rough with my hair. I love the cultural atmosphere in the shop as well. Thank you and I will be booking for my next braided style!!!!
By far the BEST customer service I have ever had when getting my hair done and doing anything. One, I called them last minute and they still opened an appointment for me on my way to this appointment my car broke and the owner helped me with transportation and booking another time to get my hair done. This lady drove out her way to help me and once I got my hair done it was super fast literally less than 3 hours (two people were in my head). When my hair was done I walked across the street to a store and while I was in the store it starting pouring. I was just gonna run for it but when I walked outside there was the lady that braided my hair honking to take me back to the shop. That paragraph was just about the customer service. My hair looks so good !! I have fine hair not the thick not that course but you would know that because my braids are very full and extremely neat! My edges are gripped and it doesn’t hurt. I highly recommend this place worth the money, nice atmosphere, good people!!
My mother and I wanted to see if this place could do my little sister’s hair and as soon as we walked in, a lady said “We can’t do her hair, she’s too young”, meaning that they’re not willing to braid a little girl’s hair just because they automatically assume that she’ll be “too much to handle” or “she won’t keep still” and my sister has had her hair braided before and was phenomenal. Why say this and yet, you show photos of kids hair that have been braided; this reminds me of the classic case of false advertisement. I would not recommend this place for children since they can’t handle it.
