Quick Facts About Lee's Fish & Chips
Lee's Fish & Chips has received a mix of positive and negative comments, indicating both strengths and weaknesses. Let's analyze the comments to understand the strengths and weaknesses of the place.
Starting with the positives, several comments highlight the quality and taste of the food. One customer describes the fish and chips as "amazing" and mentions that they can tell it is all cooked from fresh. Another comment states that the fish and chips are the best for miles and are cooked to perfection. These comments indicate that Lee's Fish & Chips has a strength in providing delicious, well-cooked food.
Furthermore, customers appreciate the light, crispy batter on the fish and the good quality of the chips. This suggests that Lee's Fish & Chips has mastered the art of frying fish and chips to achieve the desired texture and taste. The comment about the mushy peas being nice also adds to the positive feedback on the food.
Additionally, the comment about the girls who serve being polite and friendly reflects well on the customer service provided by Lee's Fish & Chips. It shows that the staff are professional and create a pleasant dining experience for customers.
On the other hand, there are several criticisms and concerns mentioned in the comments. One recurring issue is the lack of variety on the menu. One customer mentions that there is not much on the menu, while another expresses disappointment that they only had cod and not other fish options. This indicates a weakness in terms of menu diversity, as customers may desire more options to choose from.
Another weakness highlighted by multiple comments is the inconsistency in the quality of the onion rings. Two customers complain about the messy presentation and lack of cleanliness in the packaging of the onion rings. This suggests a possible issue with quality control and attention to detail.
Furthermore, there are complaints about the opening times and availability of fish. Some customers express frustration at finding the place closed when they wanted to order, while others mention that fish is often unavailable due to prioritizing delivery drivers. This indicates a weakness in terms of operational efficiency and customer convenience.
One comment also raises a hygiene concern, as a long dark hair was found in the doner burger. This is a serious issue as it can significantly impact customer satisfaction and trust in the establishment. It suggests a need for stricter hygiene practices and better quality control.
Lastly, there is a negative comment about the kebab meat being of low quality. The customer describes it as the worst they have ever tasted and advises the shop to stop selling kebabs. This criticism indicates a weakness in the preparation and quality of certain menu items, which can negatively impact the overall reputation of the place.
In conclusion, Lee's Fish & Chips has strengths in providing delicious, well-cooked fish and chips with a light crispy batter and good quality chips. The staff also receive praise for their polite and friendly service. However, there are weaknesses in terms of menu diversity, inconsistent quality of certain items like onion rings and kebabs, operational efficiency with opening times and availability of fish, and hygiene concerns. Addressing these weaknesses can help enhance the overall customer experience at Lee's Fish & Chips.

Brilliant place! Minus the plaice... Actually they only had cod. Really tasty well cooked light crispy batter really good chips.
Just ordered from here and my god ordered 10 onion rings never in my life have I seen a mess in a bag really disappointed to be honest not sure if there going down hill as also noticed not much on menu please sort it out or let someone else buy it and sort the issue. So decided to risk it ordered again 02/04/22 my god onion rings exactly the same no surprise and there was a dark long hair in the doner burger absolutely disgusting never going to order from here again I wouldn’t even want anything for free it’s so bad money wasted again !!!!
Not open at times I want chips. Have never had any fish left when I have found it open. They prioritise delivery drivers, and you can be left waiting for a long time, with no apologies from the staff. Kids behind the counter seem disinterested.
Most importantly the chips are bad. They taste healthy - if I wanted healthy I really wouldn’t be going to a chip shop.
I had the most amazing cod and chips. You can tell it is all cooked from fresh. Would definitely recommend.
The best fish and chips. Simply put. I literally will dream about how good these are. Not oily at all, light and freshly fried, on top of juicy cod.
I’ve visited this chop shop a good few times over the years and have never before had a problem with my normal order of fish and chips but today I decided to try something different. Big mistake, I ordered the meat chips and salad for £7/£8 well 1st of all the meat looked like it needed a few more minutes on the skewer. Upon tasting I was left wondering if I was even eating meat? Worst doner I have tasted in my life. The salad was pickled & wilted as they had air tightly packed it in a sliver container along with the hot meat and chips. I honestly can’t believe they are selling kebab meat as foul as that in such a usually nice chip shop my advice is ditch the kebabs before it ends up being the demise of your business.
Best fish and chips for miles. Traditional english food cooked to perfection by english people. Well worth the drive every time. Wont go anywhere else, there is 4 fish and chip shops in Hertford but they are nowhere near the quality here. The girls who serve are very polite and friendly too.
My hubs and I went to Lees fish and chip shop after reading online that it was the best in Welwyn Garden City.
We went around 19.00 on a Friday- just before the queue hit! Its a very small place with minimal seating outside the takeaway (4 chairs and 1 table). We arrived just in time to get a seat, because 30 mins later the queue was out of the door.
We both had cod and chips - I had small and hubs had the large. Not much difference in terms of the size of the fish.
Food quality was good - crispy cod and fluffy chips (not oily or greasy). No complaints! Mushy peas were nice too.
Will come again, but will probably get it to take away instead.
Surprisingly they are one of the few places with Fanta Lemon ????. I was pleasantly surprised.
