Quick Facts About Lilford Park
Lilford Park has several strengths that make it an attractive place to visit. Firstly, it is a great park for families with young children. It offers a wide range of activities for kids to enjoy, such as swings, a play park, and even a tube slide. This makes it an ideal spot to bring your kids for some outdoor fun and entertainment.
Additionally, Lilford Park has two little football pitches and a basketball net. This is a big advantage for those who enjoy playing sports and want to engage in some friendly competition. It provides opportunities for people of all ages to get active and enjoy some recreational activities, whether it be a casual game of football or shooting some hoops.
Another strength of Lilford Park is the presence of woodland areas that provide ample space for walking. This is particularly appealing for dog owners, as it offers a decent walk for them to take their furry friends. The park has taken steps to accommodate people who enjoy walking, as they have added designated walks for individuals who simply want to stroll through the woods. The woods add an element of tranquility and natural beauty to the park, making it an appealing destination for nature enthusiasts.
Furthermore, Lilford Park offers a range of other activities to cater to various interests. These include walking, cycling, open gym, and even a picnic area. The park provides plenty of opportunities for individuals to engage in different recreational pursuits, ensuring that there is something for everyone to enjoy. Whether you prefer a leisurely walk, an energetic bike ride, or a relaxing picnic in the open air, Lilford Park has it all.
One comment also notes that Lilford Park incorporates a flood management system for the town. This is a unique feature that adds interest and creates additional space within the park. It shows that the park is not only designed for recreational purposes but also serves a practical function in aiding the local community.
Another strength of Lilford Park is its location. It is conveniently situated near a major hospital and major retail outlets, making it easily accessible for visitors. The park offers free parking, which is a big advantage, especially for those who plan to visit after shopping. Its close proximity to these facilities makes it a convenient and appealing option for a day out or a leisurely stroll.
On the other hand, Lilford Park does have some weaknesses that could be improved upon. One comment mentions that the woodland walk can become muddy in winter, which can be off-putting for some visitors. This could potentially be addressed by adding pathways or improving the drainage system in order to ensure that the walk remains accessible and enjoyable year-round.
Additionally, the park has a small car park, which may not be sufficient during busier times or peak periods. Expanding the parking area or implementing a parking management system could help alleviate congestion and ensure that visitors have adequate parking space.
Overall, Lilford Park offers numerous strengths that make it an attractive destination for both families and individuals. Its range of activities, including the play park, football pitches, and woodland walks, provide ample opportunities for recreational pursuits. The park's convenient location and free parking also make it easily accessible for visitors. However, addressing the issues of muddy paths in the winter and potential parking limitations could further enhance the park's appeal and user experience.

Absolutely LOVE this park. Fun for the kids and adults too. Great green area and woodlands. I used to go here as a kid with my grandparents. It's just as magical as I remember. Even more so...
I have know Lilford Part , or as we knew it as children back in the day as Lileford Woods all my life and over the years has had many changes. Today the Children’s play areas are back complying with todays Health and safety and walks have been added for people who just like to walk with or without the dogs. It always good to have a walk through the woods summer or Winter time. I notice that Roly Poly hill has disappeared to make way for the guided bus way, but I still consider the Park and the woods one of Leigh’s best open outdoor gems.
It's a nice walk with loads of swings as well for kids.
A park with a difference: I’ve never experienced a park that incorporates a flood management system for the town. A feature that adds interest and space. The whole park has a feeling of wide open space amid the bustle of a major hospital and over the road from major retail. Easily visit after shopping, with free parking. A hidden gem. The kiddies park looks great and includes a tube slide. Plus a full selection of outdoor gym apparatus. Well worth a visit.
Lovely place to take the little ones with a big play park and plenty of places to have a picnic and then play hide and seek in the woods.
Would recommend.
Lovely tidy, well kept park with play areas, toilets and small car park. Woodland walk is nice but bit muddy in winter; fine if you're wearing wellies!
