Mariam African Hair Braiding place has received a mix of positive and negative comments, indicating both strengths and weaknesses in the overall experience. In order to provide a comprehensive analysis, we will break down the strengths and weaknesses based on the comments provided.
Strengths:
1. Accommodating last-minute appointments: One customer appreciated the fact that Mariam African Hair Braiding was able to accommodate their daughter's appointment at the last minute. This indicates that the salon has the flexibility to handle sudden requests and potentially prioritize customer needs.
2. Skill and quality of work: A few customers mentioned that the braids they received were done nicely and to their liking. This shows that the salon has skilled braiders who can produce good results, which is essential for customer satisfaction.
3. Long-standing customer relationships: One customer mentioned that they have been going to Mariam African Hair Braiding since middle school and consider them like family. This demonstrates that the salon has built long-standing relationships with their customers, which speaks to their ability to provide consistent and satisfactory service.
Weaknesses:
1. Tight braiding: Several customers complained about their hair being braided too tightly, to the point where it caused pain and led to hair breakage. This suggests that the braiders at Mariam African Hair Braiding may need to be more mindful of the tension they apply during the braiding process in order to prioritize customer comfort and hair health.
2. Cleanliness concerns: Multiple customers stated that they observed roaches crawling around the shop, indicating a lack of cleanliness. Additionally, one customer mentioned that the shop is a mess when you walk in. These comments highlight the need for improved cleanliness standards within the salon to enhance the overall customer experience.
3. Lack of professionalism: One customer mentioned that the salon does not have a professional atmosphere, and another customer mentioned that the staff was not the nicest. This suggests a need for Mariam African Hair Braiding to work on improving their professionalism and customer service. It is important for a salon to have a welcoming and professional environment to ensure customer satisfaction.
4. Pricing concerns: A customer mentioned that they paid $160 for braids that only lasted three weeks. Another customer expressed disappointment in paying $240 for passion twists that did not meet their expectations. These comments indicate that the pricing at Mariam African Hair Braiding may be on the higher side considering the durability or quality of the braids, which could potentially deter customers from returning.
In conclusion, Mariam African Hair Braiding has several strengths such as accommodating last-minute appointments, skill in braiding, and the building of long-standing customer relationships. However, there are also weaknesses that need to be addressed including issues with tight braiding, cleanliness concerns, lack of professionalism, and potential pricing discrepancies. Addressing these weaknesses would greatly improve the overall experience at Mariam African Hair Braiding and attract more satisfied customers.

They did a great job getting my daughter in last minute.
However, My daughters hair was braided super tight. … to the point where a whole braid came out along with her hair about a week later. If it was not braided so tightly, we would have potentially came back. Not anymore.
The shop could be a little more clean.. I seen roaches crawling around. Thankfully I did not sit on their couch.
Did not have a good experience. The place is a mess when you walk in and not a professional salon. I also let them know I did not want them to braid my hair tightly multiple times, but they still braided it very tight and my head hurts now. They also aren’t the nicest either… It took them so long to finish my hair and when it was finished, the ends were a mess. My natural hair was sticking out and everything. Do not recommend.
Worst service ever! Very rude ! Place is DIRTY ! Water leaking from ceiling. Left with hair not did because she tried to overcharge me multiple times . Was told I needed to leave my purse on counter before going to ATM next door to pay for the take down service
I've been going to her and she is very good she is nice and she is very good
Overall it was a good experience I got there around 10:30, and one lady started about 20 minutes later I got there really early lol. The braids were nice how I wanted them, but only lasted me 3 weeks for $160.
I was very detailed about what I wanted done to my head even sent a picture, my hair has not been up for more than a couple days and the braids are already starting to come out I paid a lot of money for something that won’t even stay up 240 for passion twist that don’t even look like passion twist I was there all day and specifically stated that I did not want my parts to be small and they came out small anyways I would not recommend anyone to go to her
Been going here since I was in middle school I love them they like family
My review is based on how my hair was done.
I have to say the end results was very nice & was happy.
As far as the atmosphere or how decent the place was? It was a day of services not like I was gonna be there longer than than I needed to be.
So I wanted to let others know my experience there during a day of getting my hair braided and it was a positive one????
