Quick Facts About Marks Plaice
Marks Plaice is a fish and chip shop located close to Lincoln that seems to have a number of strengths and weaknesses based on the comments provided.
One of the main strengths of Marks Plaice is its food quality. Multiple comments mention that the haddock and chips are excellent, crispy, and full of flavor. The fish is described as being of high quality and the portion sizes are said to be good. This suggests that the shop prioritizes using fresh ingredients and cooking the food to a high standard. Another strength of Marks Plaice mentioned is the friendly staff. Customers appreciate the welcoming and polite service they receive, which enhances their dining experience.
The cleanliness of the store is also mentioned positively. Customers note that the shop is clean, reinforcing the idea that Marks Plaice values hygiene and provides a pleasant environment for customers. Additionally, the fact that both credit card and cash payments are accepted is seen as a positive aspect for convenience.
However, there are also some weaknesses mentioned by customers. One of the main criticisms is the high prices. Customers comment that the prices are a little on the high side, specifically mentioning that paying 7.5GBP for haddock and chips is expensive. This may deter some potential customers who are looking for more affordable options.
Another weakness highlighted is the slow service. One customer comments that it took a long time to get served due to the shop's popularity. This could be a turn-off for customers who are looking for quick and efficient service, especially if there is a queue outside the shop. The slow service could also be a contributing factor to the comment about small portion sizes, as customers may feel that they are not getting enough value for their money.
Lastly, there is mention of the shop being very popular, especially on Fridays. This could be seen as both a strength and a weakness. While popularity can be a sign of good quality, it can also mean longer wait times and crowded conditions, as mentioned by some customers.
In conclusion, Marks Plaice seems to have strengths in terms of food quality, friendly staff, and cleanliness. However, there are weaknesses related to high prices, slow service, and potential overcrowding during busy times. These factors should be taken into consideration when deciding whether to visit the establishment.

Just called In for fishcake and chips. Excellent. Pleasantly surprised to see that the new owners are the same lovely family that own the Brant Road chip shop.

When visiting Lincoln last week we fancied Fish and chips and by chance found Marks Plaice. Wonderful food and good portion size. Owners very polite and friendly.
Over priced, really small portions and the service is so slow it's painful. Usually a queue outside in the street, about 6 people deep waiting to get in. Fridays are even worse.
