Quick Facts About Puffins
Puffins place is a fish and chip shop located in Weston-super-Mare. The comments from customers provide valuable insights into the strengths and weaknesses of the establishment.
Strengths:
1. Quality of Food: Multiple comments praised the taste and quality of the food, specifically mentioning the fish and chips. Customers found the fish to be crispy and flavorful, and the chips were described as lovely. There were also positive comments about the meat pie and burgers.
2. Quick Service: One comment mentioned the quick service provided by the staff. This is a strength as it ensures that customers are not left waiting for extended periods, especially during busy times.
3. Value for Money: Several comments mentioned the reasonable prices at Puffins place. Customers felt that they received good value for their money, with one individual noting that the prices were cheaper than other places serving fish and chips.
4. Ideal Location: The restaurant's proximity to the seafront and the Grand Pier was seen as a positive aspect. It makes it a convenient choice for visitors to Weston-super-Mare, adding to its appeal.
5. Dog-Friendly: The fact that Puffins place is dog-friendly received positive feedback. This inclusion makes it appealing to customers who wish to dine with their furry companions.
Weaknesses:
1. Inaccurate Opening Times: One comment mentioned that the Google opening times were incorrect. This can be a source of frustration for potential customers who rely on accurate information to plan their visit. The comment suggests that Puffins should update its opening times on Google or extend its hours to match the listed times.
2. Defensive Owner: One customer pointed out that the owner of Puffins place responded defensively and unprofessionally to feedback. This lack of professionalism and maturity can create a negative impression of the establishment, potentially discouraging customers from visiting.
3. Inconsistent Food Quality: A two-star review highlighted the disappointment in the quality of the food during a particular visit. The curry sauce was described as bland, the fish was inedible, and the sausages were overly salty. In addition, the portion sizes were criticized, with the pie being deemed large enough to break a window. Inconsistency in food quality can deter repeat customers and harm the reputation of the establishment.
4. Lack of Customer Service: One comment mentioned the lack of customer service, specifically the refusal to refund the price difference between a sausage and a pie. Poor customer service experiences can leave a negative impression on patrons and discourage them from returning.
5. Limited Seating Options: One customer mentioned that during their visit, the restaurant was only offering takeaway due to Covid reasons. This limitation can inconvenience customers who prefer to dine in or who are hoping for a sit-down meal. It is worth noting that this weakness is specific to the circumstances during the pandemic and may not be a consistent issue.
In conclusion, Puffins place has several strengths, including the quality of their fish and chips, quick service, reasonable prices, ideal location, and the dog-friendly policy. However, there are also notable weaknesses, such as inaccurate opening times, defensive owner responses, inconsistent food quality, limited customer service, and limited seating options during the pandemic. Addressing these weaknesses, particularly in terms of customer service and food quality consistency, can help improve the overall customer experience and promote positive word-of-mouth.

Amazing! Went for birthday meal. Lovely fish, chips cooked great and white bait. Looks can be deceiving from the outside. Very quick service. Friendly and good value
Google states that it closes at 6pm
Arrived at 5.15pm and it had already closed.
Very misleading to people looking to visit, should change the times on google or stay open until the time it says.
Edit: If you look at Puffins owners comments to any and all feedback, they are extremely defensive, immature, and lacks any sort of professionalism - They sound more like a child having an tantrum than a business owner.
As an owner, you have the ability to amend google opening hours - People use opening hours information to attend, its not customers fault you're too thick to know how to suggest an edit on google.
May I suggest you spend less time insulting customers who leave you valid feedback and threatening them with legal teams, and more time learning the basics of professionalism and the very easy task of amending your opening times on google ????
Edit 2: Imagine turning up at this fish and chips and having to deal with such an unprofessional owner - If the owner is like this, can only imagine what the staff are like.
Pay slightly more, go to The Strange Catch or Number One, and support businesses who actually deserve it - Both of which know how to deal with customers, and don't throw tantrums on social media.
Opening times are wrong on Google, it says that it closed at 5 but was open later so could be losing them business. I had a small portion of fish and chips which was more than enough. Prices are cheaper than elsewhere. Best fish and chips I had in ages. Lovely and crispy. Staff were also really nice.
Two stars was purely for the customer service however the food quality on this occasion just wasn't thier. Curry sauce was bland and portion was minute.
Fish was inedible, they served a pie which could probably break a window.
How ever once asked to top up the curry sauce and exchanged the pie for a sausage but the sausage was like it had been sat in hot holding for a week and did not refund the difference between sausage and pie.
Portion of chips was also small
The restaurant was takeaway only when we visited for Covid reasons. It was a very tasty mini fish (cod) and chips, lovely pickled egg and mushy peas. I also ordered a normal size fish and chips for my other half and a large pot of mayo and had change out of £15, which was really well priced I thought for where it is. It’s right on the sea front outside the Grand Pier so it’s in the ideal location for a day trip to Weston. There was a long queue at lunchtime when we visited which is great for them, glad to see that they are doing well, just be prepared for that if you’re visiting. It’s worth the wait though, you’ll be pleasantly surprised. They also get a big tick from me for being dog friendly.
I had the cod and chips, with mushy peas and two slices of bread (chip butty just has to be done!!)... my friend had a meat pie which he thoroughly enjoyed. As you can see from the photo the portions are generous ... and waitresses service was good too. A most enjoyable meal.
Lovely chips but weren't keen on the sausages. They were really salty and not to our taste. Great can eat in for same cost.
I have never been a fan of fish so it may seem strange to leave a 5 star review for a fish and chip shop. But would you know it, Puffins of Weston-super-Mare happens to make THE best fast food burgers I have ever tasted in my entire 45 years!! Absolute genius in the burger department! Fresh, juicy and an absolute delight. From this day forth I will tell the legendary tale of the small chip shop and the big burgers in Weston-super-Mare. Ps family says fish was good too ????
